So I have been playing this game for about a week and a half and already had 3 times maintenance...
I think this is way too much! Instead of making crappy updates maybe they can first test things out on the test server, patch that stuff and after a month or so upload the update to the real servers. Then a week or two after the real update they can patch the issues that appear on the real server and then focus on the next real update.
It is so annoying that there is so much maintenance... create a good patch or test it first on test servers on don't make updates at all... it is as simple as that... Take an example of other mmorpgs like WoW... Seriously I love this game but the company behind it sucks. Sometimes I wish Blizzard would buy this game, atleast then we would have a normal update and maintenance routine and some good customer service (which also sucks atm... 2-3 days to fix a problem that already popped up a few years ago and not even letting the players know how things are going is just crazy..)
Sorry if it seems like I am whining atm but this really is a big issue. I really hope this will change so that players can just play the game like they should instead of having 2-3 times maintenance in a week...
What do you guys think about this?
Just wondering if you were on the PTS to help test, and if you were did you find all the problems.
Most people are at work or would have classes during the EU times.
I don't get it.
I play MMo since 1999 and T4c and it's the first time i get mad about maintenance.
In Europe i can't play on Monday (my day off) because they don't care it's in the middle of the day. Same for the hotfix, the last was about something like 6+ hours.
It's way too much.
If you're unemployed use the downtime to do some job search (this is what I did when between jobs and playing ESO).
If you're a student with no classes, do some study work.
If you're working from home, do some job work.
If you're none of the above, feel lucky you have so much free time in your life.
No I am not new to mmorpg games -_-
I am just saying that they should take an example of blizzard... Those servers are pretty much never offline...
If they can do hotfixes and stuff without the players even noticing it then why can't ZOS do this as well?
Just saying...

Because this is not Blizzard and this game engine and design engine is way different then wow or hots, or d3, or sc, or ow, and hs. And the game files, pluss the hardwear set up is also way different then what Blizzard uses. Please rember, not every mmo works in that way what Blizzard use. And also source codes are different to, the schedule are not the same. they have a technical reasion why they cannot do the maintances as other companies do.
For Example BW with the SWTOR they do they maintances in every tuesday in the middle of the day 14:00-06:00 PM EU time. that time period is the most traficked one.
So trust me that fustration what the palyers experiance from them is way worst then your compliments
Pluss sometimes they just doing almost 16 hour maintances, in the middle of the week. And tehy dont even apologies. they say in the anoucnemts the maintance is only takes 4 hour but eventualy it mostly ends up with 8, 10, 16, and 24 hour. BEcause tehy are lame as F...
And that game is also an mmo, and it dosent requier that long ass maintance. within 3 hour everything will be fine. (if they know how to do it ofc and not trying to mess up the whole game) wich is always happens with SWTOR.
One patch cames out to fix something, and old bug came back and F..up the whole game, because the engine is soooo unstabel they know that cos teh forums are flooded with them soooZOS is obviusly doing a waaay beter job then SWTOR and so on.
Who knows generally if they hotfix something the severs don't ,,,ahh I remember there generally isn't a download my bad lol

BREAKING NEWS: THIS WEEK’S MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Game Start End Comments
World of Warcraft 31/05/2017, 05:00 - 31/05/2017, 06:00 Rolling Restarts
All times are in CEST.
Please follow @BlizzardCSEU_EN on Twitter for further updates.
As t you saying that nobody notices it, i take it you don't go on their forums then, because i've seen it turn into a front page of "is the server down, whys the game down, fedd the hamsters" in the past.
I am in the Pacific timezone and I get screwed out of a day a week. The maintenance cuts right into my playtime.(sorry Pacific timezone)
While I understand the need for maintenance, the timing is incredibly frustrating.
Personally I think the maintenance takes place at the worst time possible !!
If these geniuses at ZOS would just MOVE it back a couple hours. As I have proposed previously. Things would be much better, having a couple additional hours would make a big difference
Xbox One: North American and European megaservers for maintenance – May 31, 10:00 UTC (6:00AM EDT)
PlayStation®4: North American and European megaservers for maintenance – May 31, 10:00 UTC (6:00AM EDT)
Why can't it be at 6:00 AM like it is for console players. That is a more optimal time to be doing this. The most optimal time (for all time zones) somewhere around 7:00 or 8:00 AM EDT, IMHO.
So what we have here..
A player who is playing less than two weeks is telling us things like:
- " the company behind it sucks"
- "Instead of making crappy updates"
Seems totally legit.
Lets assume ZOS would test this "small crappy things" on the PTS. Who is going to test it and waste his time to go there and test this all small things? You?
C'mon.
You linked to a thread page with 3 replies from Gina, followed by a reply on each of the next three pages and them announcing they'd deployed a fix for that issue and you say they're not communicating. As I said, just because they're the same genre doesn't meant they made the same way at all.Never noticed the WoW servers being down for a hotfix and I played i A LOT.
And I know ESO and WoW are different but they are both mmorpgs.
That's like asking why a Mazda M3 can't beat a Mclaren F1's time on a track day, they're both cars right?
There is a whole list of reasons why ESO is not WoW and ZOS is not Blizzard. If Blizzard and WoW is so perfect why are you here again? Because you love ESO right? Sadly part of ESO is the downtimes, because that's how this game is.
So you either take WoW and Blizzard and their no downtimes but not the game you want to actually play, or you take ESO and ZOS and accept that it's not the perfect package but you love it any way.
Not saying they are made the same way. They shouldn't be but atleast ZOS can learn from other mmorpgs.
And to show you guys what I mean with the bad customer support and ZOS barely communicating:

You know how many threads on here don't get a single answer? You could have at least linked one of them!
The thread page I linked was about a problem (which they apprently also had a few years ago). Took them 2-3 days to fix the problem (which is strange if they already had the same problem once). Gina ONLY replied 3 times... Didn't see anything on ESO twitter about the problem or any good updates about how the fixing of the problem was going. So I think that this is one of the best examples out there to show how bad the communication is and how bad ZOS is at solving a problem asap (again think about the fact that they had the same problem before... if it was something new then I would understand...)
A lot of people also complain on there about ZOS and their bad communication. Also about that it was something typical for ZOS to have small fixes and updates which don't even fix real issues and those small updates mostly bring up even more problems (read the replies on the thread yourself to see who said it if you want to know).
So yeah I do think that is the perfect example...

If that thread is your eveidence of bad communication dear Azura you're in for a shock with their regular communication.
I've had this debate (with ZOS employees as well) and after actually realising some things their communication isn't really any worse than others. I mean what do you want, tweets and facebooks updates like this.
Please. Show me an account run by developers where they live tweet every single little update in a bug fix over three days. I have only ever seen forums thread posts from community managers or devs for this, normally with a central locked thread by the devs updated with news, or a player made thread they chose as "the thread" with updates exactly like Gina did there.
If there isn't news to update what can they say just post every hour "still fixing it..." or as Gina posted on the forums before actually leave the forums and do some work.
