it is well known that ESO has the most vile community from all online gamings
but this..... this surpass the worst nightmares
the ones who posted those things in chat should be imediatly
banned 4ever
banned ip and hwid
named and shamed
this should not be allowed, this is why when i am playing eso my main chat window is CMX window, as i cant stand the evilness and stupidity that poors from main chat window onto my screen
That depends. If someone is just saying naughty words then yes it's on the other user to mute/block.dwemer_paleologist wrote: »i don't want to play eso if it is being monitored, i have played mmo's where it was monitored and people were banned on a minute to minute basis, it was horrible.
if you don't like what some one is saying in zone chat, or whisper, or common chat, or guild chat then just block that person.

Unfortunately you can't fix stupid. Thoughts and prayers from the USA.
Thank goodness I disabled zone chat on the day I installed the game at PC launch, and at the same time resolved never to set foot in Cyrodiil.
Best wishes and sympathies from south of the M4 to all affected by this heinous crime. Anyone making light of it or celebrating it should be reported.

Do you play on EU or NA? If you're on NA, I think we'd make great in-game friends, despite the UK time difference.

i can live with trash talk in chat, have done since it was released on console, that sort of thing does not bother me 1 little bit, but supporting and praising a terror act does, no matter where the attack was, never mind its my home city.
Mancs are united at this time, more than ever, we wont be broken, ever, as in the line of the famous Gallagher brothers, we wont and DONT look back in anger.
thank you

If it was on console then you should also report it to MS or Sony as appropriate, the offenders might find themselves perma-banned from more than just ESO...

As a mancunian born and bred i found it very difficult to have to read these comments from so called gamers, when what they are is nothing short of scumbag terrorists themselves, i know one player whos has screenshotted the text and forwarded this to the anti terror squad in the UK, i hope they are met with a massive knock on the door.
you should fix up and police your chat.

It's don't think Zos has the resources to monitor zone chat constantly though we all are able to take SS and report behavior to Zos.

I'm pretty sure ZOS being too cheap to hire appropriate staff numbers will not wash as an excuse when the authorities start to investigate game chat as a platform that allows the promotion of international terrorism.
All The Best
This is such an idiotic statement. .

I am sorry you had to read that garbage, and especially at such a wounding time.
That said - I'm wholly against policing people speaking in general. I think no matter how vile the message or words - they should be allowed to be spoken as long as they are not direct threats. Those words being respected on the other hand, not as much. Just because somebody should have the right to talk - does not mean we have to accept what they're saying as correct or even as welcome speech - it is okay to look down on these people and to say they deserve shame - but my line gets drawn at saying they should not speak their mind, no matter how awful.
I see racism all the time in text chat and want to start throwing fire at these clowns - but the reality is that my anger will only feed their stupidity. I am more of a corrector, instead of policing people, I would try to show the error in their ways through conversation - but in the majority of cases, even that only feeds the stupidity.
The sad reality is that these people see threads like this - and it actually encourages them more. I think being an M rated game and an online one - EsO should be seen much akin to how the rest of the internet is - a cesspool of filth that we have to wade through to enjoy our stay.
Policing the text chat would just be a burden on ZOS, and at the end of the day - these trolls would just find another avenue to express said thoughts.

Why do you still have zone chat on? There is nothing worth seeing there.

If Skype can keep records of your chat history, I'm fairly certain ZOS has some way of keeping a history of every zone chat in each server that's timestamped.

I'm sorry you had to go through this and I guess just "ignoring it" is easier said than done. When there were attacks in France and in Belgium we did not hear such things on /zone. Perhaps it's the price to pay to use english, the language (more or less) mastered by everyone.
Anyway, all I wanted to say is that I'm sorry you had to hear/read that, and keep heads up, the overwhelming majority of us are in this together, with you and your city and everyone.
it's not the language, it's some of the gits that play this game....
