I literally do not understand how guild vendors work

FlapjackSerious
Guild vendors are nothing but a PITA in my experience so far. You look up what you want on TTC, spend 45 minutes porting around the world from vendor to vendor, find that the first two pages of TTC listings have sold out, give up on ever having the thing you were trying to buy, log out and watch South Park instead.

How do people use guild vendors so that the experience doesn't make you want to bite your computer in half?

Use the filters to faster check if the trader has what you want. Try Mournhold, Rawl'kha, Wayrest, Belkarth and Elden Root when you're looking for trading.

If I want a common in demand item, I go to the trade hubs. Generally if it's a meta item or crafting material it's in Craglorn (PC EU hub) or one of the faction capitals.

If I want a more obscure items I use the TTC website and list by most recently updated.

I've also spent 8 years on EVE Online so am kind of used to a trade and regional based market (granted it was better implemented there).

Yep. Spent years in SWG, which originally didn't have a galaxy-wide private vendor search. In SWG I *got* it; I understood the limits, design intentions, and how to navigate the trade system.

    Here I just give up.

Awesome guild store, master merchant, ttc, and being part of trade guilds will help but i personally like the trade system. More rpg themed imo then going to one hub that has it all.

I think the biggest issue here is the system idea works (I am against a global market) but the implementation wasn't great.

    1. You need to have a system which lets players search where an item is (not price info) so they can go and buy it.
This removes the pain of running around checking every store for an item, but also rewards time investment in market trading still (those who take the time to check for low to sell high).

    2. The UI and search needs a MASSIVE overhaul for both buyers and sellers.
We shouldn't need to have add-ons on PC just to be able to use the search feature well.

Those two changes would do a great deal in helping people enjoy the system more.

On the specifics of your issue OP, as said above if you're on PC get AwesomeGuildStore and MasterMerchant, for better UI and price tracking (respectively).

When you're using TCC website check the listed times, anything more than a day ago if it's an in demand item is likely gone. Try going to vendors in Outlaw Refuges, DLC zones or outline stores (the single NPC's not in each zones main settlement) as these are less used and more likely the item will be there.

Otherwise, just try to push through the pain and remember to tell ZOS their breaking your balls. (only South Park line I could think of).

Well perhaps ESO isn't the game for you. If that makes you rage, grinding for the right drops of gear must make you climb the walls.

Really? I mean it's not perfect but the difference between the options that gives vs the core UI huge.

The fact ZOS hasn't just ripped it off and thrown it into the game as a core UI yet is actually pretty shocking.

accept the fact that you will not get a good price on something unless you get super lucky and that you were next to the trader when someone listed their deal. sort ttc by most recent listing rather then by price and start with median prices. farm for as many things as possible yourself, becasue trading in this game is a pointless timesink and you are often as likely to spend the same amount of time farming something as you are making gold and then looking to buy it.

tip for using awesome guild store. it doesn't consolidate your items on a single page. rather it hides items that don't fit your parameters, so you still have to go through multiple pages, you just don't need to scroll through individual items as much, just hit next page, until you either get to the page that has items you want, or hit the last page, which means that particular store doesn't have what you want.

P.S. every time I see people recommend master merchant to a casual buyer i immediately know that they are full of caca and are the very people who benefit the most from this mess of an exclusionary system. master merchant only works properly IF you are pare of multiple VERY active trading guilds that have traders in high traffic locations. it takes a minimum of several weeks before its data becomes useful. why? becasue it ONLY works via data you collect from the guilds YOU are personaly in. TTC has issues, main being the fact that website lags a bit when it comes to updating listings and lags a LOT when it comes to removing listings that have been sold. but.. at least it has a larger pool of vendors whose data it collects. master merchant is only useful if you yourself are medium to heavy trader.

This is an excellent tip. I hadn't realized it myself until YESTERDAY. So many trips around the world, not even knowing I was ignoring 2nd and 3rd pages...

How is your first line item even relevant in light of TTC?

ZoS implemented a system to prevent market monopolies and consortia. They failed miserably due to player ingenuity. This game has more collusion than I have ever seen with an AH and 6 to 8 guilds control the market. However, ZoS maintains it is a success without reservation. How? Your guess is as good as mine.

Really. It was so counter-intuitive and just bloody awful I could not get it to do anything useful. I'm serious, I terminated that crap with extreme prejudice. If ZoS stole it tomorrow that would be the day I quit this game because I could not live with an interface that awful.

not the best overview (IMO), but its the only one I found in like 5 minute search https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e23IEs_ozms

honestly, I found it to be pretty intuitive myself, but this may be a personal thing. like... a lot of people find apple products intuitive and I was ready to smash my tablet at one point.. if it weren't so damn expensive (at the time I got it, android didn't have the apps I needed it for, yet, but I digress)

Personally i like the system (the idea of it) but they need to finish the implementation of it.

Relying on "add-ons" is extremely lazy development, how hard can it be to add a search function or even just sort on alphabet would be better then on time left.

I tried to find a dark brotherhood motif i needed for a master writ and got nauseous from the endless scrolling to the point where i actually had to turn of my ps4 and recover lol.
