HELP ! Gold extortion from trade guilds

Hello,

Maybe you're not aware of a practice becoming always more serious about the trading guilds: they prey on mostly new players, asking for gold one week after joiningnthe guild.
If you cannot pay, go farm mats they say, even giving tips where to farm and how, just to fill their pockets with more gold, gold that they will sell for real money on other websites - just make a simple internet research and you will find a lot of websites selling ESO gold, mostly from guild owners, using 3rd party accounts just to fool the GM's when (and if) banning them.

Read trading guilds rules and you will see how they are asking directly for gold from players. Then trace the gold from such guilds and you will see that it ends on the gold selling ESO illegal websites.

Lately, most trading guilds I've been accepted in, asked gold from me (no less than 5k / week) to be a member. The nicer guilds are also accepting to trade a certain weekly amount, from 15k to 30k gold / week, all with the excuse that they need to bid on the guild vendor.

Actually it is almost impossible to find a trading guild with an actual vendor, that isn't asking for gold to be member.

So, ultimately being a member of a trading guild is becoming a stress. I play for fun and to relax, not to stress myself that the guild I'm in will kick me out because I didn't meet my sales quota or I forgot paying the "protection" tax.

Solution to this ?
1. Create an unified player store / vendor / auction house, where everybody could sell items, like in ALL OTHERS MMO's. This will reduce also the fraud commited with your gold.
2. Sell gold yourself, like other MMO's. Eliminate the illegal competition.
3. Change the way guild vendors are assigned to trading guilds. Make it random as location and ask a fixed price for a vendor. If there are too many requests, assign vendors based on guild members number - more members, more chance to get a vendor in a week. This way a guild will be forced to be honest and offer quality time and events, so the members will stay in.

I cannot even begin to tell how bad this looks for you ZOS, allowing your players being extort by other players. It's like you agree bullying us. It looks really bad, I'm telling you.
I was always a paying customer, I bought all DLC, I'm also an ESO+ payer, always paying 6 months in advance, because I like the game and I want to support you to develop it better. But please, do something to fix the major faults in this game. The guilds system IS a system malfunctioning in your game.

The people extorting money from others and actually the real gold sellers will dislike this post and I expect bad comments below - you could actually check the accounts of such persons for illegal activities and gold appeared or misteriously dissapeared in large amounts.

In the mean time I will never join an extortion trade guild and I will just spam zone chat to sell things. I advise other honest players to do the same.

Thank you.

Bye

OP there are guilds out there which don't ask for money.

PC EU Pact Veteran Trade for example has no fees only the requirement to meet sales targets, which is only fair to ask for seeing as that's the reason you're there. They hold a Craglorn trader 90% of the time and have good footfall for sales.

Some guild do require fees to help pay for vendors, vendors range from 20k (outline ones no one wants) to the hundreds of thousands to millions (main cities) depending on servers and demand.

If you don't want to pay fees don't join a guild which has them. There are plenty which offer in house or smaller merchant (or as said above some larger merchants) for you to have access to.

I do believe you're adding a lot of hyperbole and drama to something which isn't as much of an issue as you're making it out to be.

...extorting money? How exactly are you expecting them to pay for guild traders if paying a gold fee OR meeting a sales quota is too much stress for you, directly from the GM's pocket? Afaik the top/one of the top pc na guilds has 400k a week sales quota/15k gold fee...because they literally pay MILLIONS for their trader.

The (pretty large and known, with permanent trader in Mournhold) trade guild I'm in now doesn't really have a listed requirement but if you aren't selling/donating, you will get kicked. Because the trader they have isn't cheap either.

Why do you need a trading guild if you aren't even selling for 5k gold a week? I mean there's nothing wrong with not selling. I haven't been doing it for years, mostly giving stuff away for free and just joined a trade guild recently because I needed gold for some stuff and had SotH motifs to sell. But if you don't sell, why bother with a trade guild at all? Just join a social guild or something, you can also always sell stuff to guildies by using the banker to access it. No stress, everyone's happy.

    Really?

I don't really care what they're doing with the gold as the guild I'm in always has a top tier trader and keeps up with everyone's dues without issue.

5k,8k,10k a week? That's so easy to get and I get that back after 1 sold stack of ancestor silk that takes an hour to farm and that's probably doing it the hard way.

Sell enough weekly and you will not be forced to donate gold i.e. giving away your gold for nothing. If you don't sell much it's no need to stay in best trading guild, risking someone will demand gold because they must use it to overbid other guilds in constant fight for best trader place. Recently I joined Harrods and sold for 200k gold in first day. I don't care about rank in trading guild, all that matters is to quickly sell all goods in good prices. Gold is what matters. I'll probably be kicked in next week but I don't care, I can always return and start over. These guilds recruit and kick constantly, so don't donate if your sales are low, once you are kicked you are free of "extortions", just gather items and once you are ready - join some guild again and sell :).
