I've tried a lot of builds from different people, there's really not a better way to get jump started. In the end none of them really felt right, and I end up using elements from different places but mostly because there are just certain sets you need to use if you want to do well. I will say though that I'm using a pretty hard hitting build from fengrush on my stam sorc (obviously) that I do really like. Skill sets and lineup are my own though and I always mess around with cp points, because I can't do the same stuff they he and others can and because I rely more on simple but hard hitting builds because of lag playing from SE Asia. So I tend to put a lot of cp points in might and also light and heavy attack damage as well to get a boost in case my ani cancel doesn't really follow through.

If you really want to learn about combat mechanics in order to work on your own builds (the meta is there, yes, but in my opinion it's better to know how the game works combat wise to know how to build what works better for you) i really suggest you to have a look on Gilliamtherogue channel.

Very good and insightful content there for sure!

    Cheers.

Most of Deltias stuff came from Gilliam anyways

Yep, I'm by no means a noob but I don't do vet raids any more just because I can't be bothered with the attitude people have. I play how I want, its not a hybrid or anything crazy. It ammues me when people try to insult players as *rp-er* because they don't use a meta build. They fail to realise they too are RP-ing in a game world, just they take it deadly seriously, that's quite tragic.

I simply play how I like, I do perfectly fine in everything, I do not raid with jerks, I stick to PvP mostly and have fun, its a game and I have fun ^^

I always make and finetune my own build but maybe thats because im tanking and this field still leaves a lot of space for build personalisation.

Nevertheless I find it hilarious when 2 days ago some certain very vocal tank makes up a build and declares a specific set to be "BIS" for tanks in Morrowind and same day i see players storming traders and zone chats trying to buy out that set.

Step 1. Be a vocal and popular person in eso with a base of followers
Step 2. Target a niche set and buy it out
Step 3. Publish "hey look new BIS, must have for X patch" article
Step 4. Release the items to traders
    Step 5. ???
    Step 6. Profit

This is why ill always be careful at what "build producers" suggest especially if it includes tradeable gear. Ive already seen people do tricks like suggest to wear X while they themselves do not use it at all.

on my side, i get to use his or Alcast builds when i started a new toon with a class for the first time, just to get to know the class and role, then at one point when i get to know it, i start playing around with CPs, skill bar allocation etc.. so i end up creating my own build. But that'S how i was in all MMO, i love creating my own stuff. I still say build sometimes are suited for your own play style and your likes....

For exemple, when i tried most of their build for my Magika Sorc, no way i was able to get close to the result they do, ok i do not own any vMA staff, nor Golden moondancers jewly, only BSW Sharp Staff and blue IA jewls... so i read a bit about passives since i was out of the game for 2 years, some changess etc.. so i ended up with some of my own CP distribution, some of my skill bar etc and then because of some of the bassive readout, i ended up switching inferno and lightning staves (even though everyone mostly go online with either 2 inferno or lighting on front and inferno on back, how could i even dare doing that :P) from front and back bar and decided to change the enchant on them... the result was surprising, as with my play style for semeple, with those found on net build, i was only getting 25k on dummy, at the end i was getting 31k, all that no ultimate, no potions, no elemental drain or no ones buffs besides mine... But again, i love testing out stuff, i don'T get headache math stuff, i simply put on gear try out stuff, fool around with CPs with diff test, etc.. just doing that with my new toons alone it's a fun, allows me to get to know my toon and not become a copy cat, of course at the end it ends up to look like others, because we get to understand the best skills each classes has... but i love fooling around bashing on my dummy for tests in beetween some farming, mats gathering, pledges or trials repetitive runs. :)

so somtimes yep, coming up with your own stuff is good, and makes you proud of it. But yeah to start with as you get to know the toon, it's helpful a bit..

I'm sorry to tell you that deltia b**** quit, no I mean still plays but doesn't play? Left? Kinda left? I have no idea and just don't care but he says he's not making content and is playing starwars now so with the new dlc coming very soon all his builds will be out of date [snip]

I've looked at builds as suggestions or tips on what I can change about my own setup. Where to put CP or what other set to go with the one I already use. I don't copy the entire thing, especially with all the Best in Slot end game builds that are nothing but armor and weapons found only in Veteran Trials which I NEVER touch.

I never liked deltia's builds for my playstyle. I usually look up @Thelon, and then settle on @Waffennacht because it's more reasonable for me :p, though both their insights help a lot to make choices! Slightly modified depending on missing equip. Played pet sorc in all its variations since I started playing, even leveled up as such.

Deltia (or any other streamers) builds were useful when I started out. For anyone that is starting out, I would recommend using his starting/leveling builds. After that, most streamers (not just Deltia) focus just on one aspect, be it trials, pve, whatever. Fengrush Stam Sorc was about the best build to use in any environment.

However you know your playstyle best. Besides that, most builds are very similar, so the minor tweaks to the play style is something you would know.

Just kind of a reminder. With the revamp of the skill and champion point systems next week, anyone using old builds will be highly disappointed. Especially if its a streamer who no longer plays the game.

I don't make carbon copies, but they all have great content and give good insights into their play.

It is good for the likes of these type of guys to put out clips on how-to, playthroughs and guides. Someone should, and these guys came up to the bat. Kudos to them. I personally don't use any, but definitely useful for any new players who is smart and not lazy enough to google or search instead of expecting all things to be answered for them on the in-game text chat. Also, if you play this game long enough, you'll know all the different set available and perks from 5-piece to know enough to put together something or two quite viable.. and for PvE, you don't need Maelstrom, trial gears or whatever peeps are claiming to be BIS to have an effective build or have fun in this game. Heck, I've beaten down giants, trolls, mammoths, rolled through world boss, dungeon (non-vet, of course) and dolmen with my bare fists. Ha ha

Thanks to the patch notes, I've only known Deltia from his famous breakdown. Previous to this, I had no clue who he was. Never watched any of his videos. I don't watch videos for builds. Game mechanics, sure, but a set build I leave to me.

As it should be. If I understand the game enough, builds should simply follow the mechanics and my game style.

The stupidity of everyone rushing to make the same build, a problem of every game ever, will never go away.

I don't PvP or do PvE competitively, and have no interest in checking out anyone else's build let along following it.

Half the fun of any MMO is exploring the gameworld without addons showing you where everything is - and the other half is developing your characters in the various ways that fit with how you want to play the game rather than how others tell you the game must be played.
