Do you use pre-made builds, or make your own?

I'd love to hear why as well! I know some people take pride in making their own, while others (like myself) use Deltia's builds as they're decent and straight-forward.

I watch his videos. I like Gilliam the rouge for in depth videos.
I also watch alcast and frengrush.

Seems like the game changes faster than I can mine for meta gear.
Meta gear for the most part is locked behind group play. I hope that changes but for now I just use crafted and over land sets.

Deltia is pretty much what got me into the game—he taught more people how play Elder Scrolls Online than any tutorial ever could. I used his builds for the first couple months I played the game—then I shifted onto whatever the meta build was/is. There are times where I try to optimize things for myself, try to make them better, but there's no reason to not follow what someone else has done if it makes you the most effective player you can be.

I found Deltia webpage to be quite helpful as a guide and a starting point. I use several streamers, depending on what I am looking for.

Any good build is doomed the second it is published.
If it's good thousands of people will start using. The when it starts killing people they will know exactly why and start complaining about it and within a year it's nerfed. People also make counters to popular OP builds. On top of all that, the cost of jewelery for these new fancy builds suddenly goes through the roof.

Far better to keep your build a secret and even wear a costume. Personally the only reason I'd publish a build was if I had a stockpile of the jewelery and wanted to sell it for a fortune.

I look at his builds, then I check out the foundry, then poke around on the forums here, get drunk, doodle some, have a weird dream, stare at some books and watch movies... then, build my own stuff but with a bit of everything thrown in? =)

I go to Tamriel Foundry and see what the current meta is, then make a build that is based off those that I find works for me. A lot of time "meta" builds are over complicated just to get an extra 5k DPS that isn't really needed to complete any content in game.

I use Alcasts. I have never had luck making my own builds and when I try to I go to PvP and get spanked almost instantly. Would love to use my own build but I just can't seem to build something good. Which sucks haha not sure what I need to do but for now Alcast is a pretty solid creator.

I am highly disappointed that Fengrush, Alcast,Kevin, someone... hasn't trolled this topic with a vote of either "I use Deltia's builds" or "my own" and make a tongue in cheek remark. But alas they are probably playing this new MMO called "real life" and not trolling the forums like the rest of us.

I look up gear sets and abilities and experiment to find what works for me. It was a while before I found the gear I was looking for and got used to my rotation, but in the end I settled on a flexible heal/tank front bar (switching as needed), splash damage second bar build.

    Never been a sheeple.

Nothing but props to Deltia though for bringing more people to the game, and for helping people catch on so they would keep playing. It's a shame that so many of the faces that used to promote this game and community have left. I completely understand though, it'd be tough to struggle though making content when you aren't enjoying it.

People are just wrong here, while deltia and alcast have amazing builds that does not mean they work for everyone, anyways people who are claiming deltias builds are bad are just wrong, they are just outdated. Also people need to get off their high horse, I think people are just jealous as how he makes his money, get over it, everyone is trying to do the same thing on this planet, and it was his right to quit, he does focus on other things then video games he has a life people.

I started with the builds from Deltia and I still have a couple of toons based on them. I prefer them mostly because he also mentions gear that can be crafted or bought. I don't have the patience or time to farm for BIS sets. I make changes to them so that I enjoy the gameplay, adding or removing skills, so they're not 100% his in the end, but I will still give credit where it is due. I still look at his site first, because it's so beginner friendly and I don't expect to get the best build ever because of that.

Lastly, I'll say that though I am not a fan of Deltia I don't appreciate people knocking him on the forums. Bad form.
He worked his proverbial and literal ass off to cover this game and has made a very convoluted and tbh weird combat and skill system available to newer players. Don't want to study for a degree in eso theorycrafting? Just watch Deltia.
Same goes for Sypher. His displays of PvP skills have spawned dreams and ambitions in many new players and you really can't measure the value of that.

Burying the templar was a joke. It was funny and was intended to be so. If you can't see that and don't find it funny, that's on you, no one else. As for his quitting ESO video, that was no rant. It was, if anything, somewhat regretful,. The man's life changed forever when his son was born, and he's clearly trying to make better life choices even if hard for him. To condemn him for that is really ugly stuff.

@ZOS_GinaBruno, whatever happened to no naming and shaming in these forums?

1: Deltia is a public figure, so open to scrutiny, hence no naming and shaming especially when the rant is still available despite Deltia trying to delete it.

2: I'm not the only one who found the mock funeral weird.

3: What does having a kid even have to do with the conversation

4: As long as these "all praise Deltia" threads happen, you can expect not everyone agreeing with you.

    1. @Deltia is not a public figure in the sense that you mean it, I believe. He does not use his real name, only a pseudonym (screen name). Someone above used his real name in a post and that should definitely be disallowed. For several years, I've been aware of Deltia and his ESO related work. I even subscribed to his YouTube and stream channels for awhile. But this is the first time I've ever seen his real name. @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_KaiSchober, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom...please look at this situation. Is this use of a person's real name on these forums appropriate?

    2. You might not be the only one, but that just means there is more than one humorless person in this world.

    3. It's not having a kid that is the point in this conversation. It is the fact that he is trying to make better life choices and should not be disrespected for that decision. This is a game, people. It is not the be-all and end-all of anything real except to the people who work for the companies involved in producing and promoting it. So when you get right down to it, what exactly had Deltia done to deserve the crap being thrown around here about him? He decided to no longer cover ESO in his channels and website? Puhleeeze...get back to me when ESO becomes more important in this world than just a video game.

    4. I don't expect anyone to agree with me. On the other hand, I don't expect to agree with everyone, either. But it appears that you expect me and others to agree with you. Otherwise you wouldn't have included your snarky point #4.

Honestly all I know about this guy is that he sometimes makes videos about ESO on Youtube, and I only know that from the forum.

I guess I'm old fashioned (or just old?) but I could never see the appeal of watching someone else play a game, especially one you own. Sure it's sometimes fun to do a bit of 'backseat gaming' round a friends house, but watching a pre-recorded video, or even a live stream is not the same. I'd rather have fun myself than watch someone else having fun on my behalf.
