When I first started I didn't knew how this MMO business worked, and I thought my character would stay in the world when I logged off... so I was worried on where I should "park" before logging off and the first days of early week I looked for all sort of hidden places to park :D

My first time healing: one of my guildies dragged me as healer into Banished Cells and I was on my Templar when she was at L14 or L16, don't remember exactly...

I didn't have any restoration staff abilities available nor many class ones... the only think I could use at that time was the awful Healing Ritual!

That was one of the worst dungeon runs I remember having... the tank was pissed off (he was not a guildie :P) because I couldn't keep up with the heals and I was dying all the time to Rilis' heavy attacks :D

In the end we were able to beat Rilis and the torture ended... needless to say it was one of the more stressful dungeon runs I had :) Luckily, I was able to improve and heal many more dungeons afterwards! But I stopped running dungeons for awhile after that one! :#

I started to level crafts from the beginning so was able to craft my own gear from early on. Sadly I understood nothing of the set- and trait system. So I always just made myself non-set armor pieces with impenetrable trait (for PvE) - and the reasoning for that was that diamonds were the prettiest trait gem...

This went on until I reached vet levels and I learned about set bonuses and how traits actually work.

I made a breton nightblade and focused on stamina sword and board.

It's funny. Whenever starting an mmo, I have an amazing knack to pick the most gimp builds.

For the first few weeks after the launch I used heavy armor for my magicka sorc, because hey, more armor points!

My first ESO toon was nord magicka nightblade with medium armor, bow and daggers, I put attribute points into magicka, health and stamina cause I thought everything will be useful :joy:

Apologies for all these people who were doing dungeons with me in that time :joy:

I have so many to share. I have also been playing for a year (actually I started to play with the release of the Dark Brotherhood). Now I guess I could answer pretty much any question about the game, however this is how I started:

    1. I used to play WoW and the class system / leveling works different there. I made my NB and I thought I had to choose a sub class, I had no idea you could level up all the skills at once/mixed. So I got to level 50 with my siphoning at 50 and everything else at 0  Fun fact: I was actually a stamina NB. Sweet old Noob times.

    2. It took me way too much time to realise you can lock items to avoid destroying them by accident. I don't even want to admit how many good gear pieces I have deconstructed by accident.

    3. Like I said, I used to play WoW so I thought you could only level up 2 professions. I remember having a real hard time deciding which professions to level up xD I ended up choosing provisioning and alchemy as those were the ones I had in WoW. When I discovered you could level them all I could not believe how much time I wasted.

    4. Public dungeons and world bosses were a nightmare (note that before one tamriel you could solo a world boss if you had high level). I am a completionist and I simply could not bear having something not white on the map. I will never forget the first time I got into Vile Manse. I thought I would never be able to pass the first trash mobs haha. I actually used invisibility potions to avoid them, just to get to a boss that I could not kill. Now I could do this dungeon with my eyes closed.

    5. I had no clue you could install add ons. That made the game more interesting as you can imagine how happy I was when I found a skyshard or a lorebook. I did true exploration when first started playing. However after installing the add on, the amount of stuff I missed was insane

    Just to name a few.

By the way all these noob moments were possible because I decided not to join a guild until I discovered how the game worked by myself and play a bit Skyrim-style, enjoying the questing and stories. I actually first joined my pve social guild once I got to cp160 because I wanted to start doing dungeons. If I would have joined a guild before and actually ASK people, most of them could have been avoided hahahah

Coming from Skyrim/Oblivion/etc, I started my first character as a stealth Nightblade archer (PvE). :|

    Same here.. xD

I actually had fun questing solo with that playstyle, though.

I still do this occasionally, and cuss myself out when I do, I think it's muscle memory taking over. But I did it frequently when I started playing. I'm standing at a wayshrine, and pull up the map through M, not by selecting the wayshrine, cause it's often quicker & easier than finding some of the wayshrines' hotspots, especially when mounted. I find where I wanna go, and I select it & go thru the confirmation popup. As soon as it goes into the hand-waving animation, I know that I'm unnecessarily paying for the trip, because I'm standing at the wayshrine, and I forgot which way I opened the map.

Rolldodge when it's doing the animation: it cancels it and saves you the money ;)

Not knowing there was set gear until I was like level 20. It was like an epiphany out of dumb & dumber.
You learn quicker than me, my first character could not complete the main story line at level 49 because I still had no idea what I was doing.

He was a Breton Stamina Nightblade, using 2 handed and bow, with nothing but looted armour and weaopns ranging from level 40 to 48 with no 2 pieces from the same set. I simply upgraded my armour whenever I found a piece that offered more protection than the piece I had on, never improving any of it because I knew nothing about crafting.

We all have them. I've been playing since a month after release and just deconstructed a Necro lightening sharp (again) because I rush.

Not knowing how Blade of Woe worked at first. I figured accepting the assassin quest meant it happened automatically when you killed people. Took far too long to realize the bit where you stealth up then hit X when appropriate.

ETA: Not realizing you could eat Anniversary cake more than once. Kept wondering why people were happy about a one-time 2 hour XP boost.

The Intricate trait used to read "Increase inspiration gained from extraction by 9%"

I thought that meant wearing pieces of it would increase crafting XP from deconing other items. I would be sure to wear this intricate hat I found every time I would unload bags and decon.

When I started playing eso I realized that there were set items that are better than generic dropped items and you could craft them. But always when I crafted new and shiny gear set for my fabulous looking altmer stamina templar who used 2h sword and restoration staff, all items were from same set because I didn't realize that you could wear more than 1 set at same time even tho they clearly say that you need only 5 items for last passive..

That reminds me I once withdrew all items out of the big guild bank and sold them all to NPC for a large amount of gold for a horse and bag upgrades, I thought those items are free for me to take as there's no restrictions, lol, got kicked out the next day, so sorry for that guild, such a noob.. my first ever mmo guild.

Also sold all purple and gold mats to NPCs, as I thought I only ever need dropped gears and never need to craft... :expressionless:
