ESO Live Today - Some really good changes :o

Next PTS patch sounds fantastic right now!

The very good changes: (there are more but this is what they revealed today)

Nightblade
- Grim Focus will require 5 light attacks to proc, but no longer requires you to recast the ability when the proc is fired to maintain Grim Focus (multiple procs per Grim Focus cast)

Sorcerers
- Volatile Familiar will get nerfed DPS-wise (they are way too strong right now)

Dragonknight
- Some stuff will get reduced in cost

Warden
- Magicka Warden DPS is currently atrociously low. They are getting buffed to be on par (will be quite huge if actually done!) ..... they might not be on PTS unfortunately but will arrive in Early Access May 22nd for sure.

Stamina DPS
- Blade Cloak from the Dual Wield skill line now grants 25% resistance to AoE damage (up from 20%) and trial boss AoE skills that once were considered non-AoEs have been fixed. Nice Stamina survivability buff

The controversial/probably good changes:
- Light attacks deal more damage
- Heavy attacks deal less damage but restore more resources
- Quicker Destruction staff/Bow heavy attacks
Both now have a very clear purpose where Heavy Attacks provide good sustain while light attacks boost DPS more.

There are plenty of other changes being made in terms of balance as well. Sounds from these changes alone though that ZOS is listening to feedback. Of course more should be done, but in general these were some great changes made to balance PvE! :)

You forgot to mention Heavy attack speed of Bow and Destruction staff are being reduced. They also said buffs to Warden will be on the LIVE server with Early Access, they will not be on the next PTS patch, same with nerfs to Volatile Familiar... on Live not PTS.

The light and heavy attack change is nice

But what about armour types, I thought I heard Rich say they are getting adjusted? @ZOS_RichLambert Can you elaborate on that please, you answered really vague on the cost / regeneration numbers per item type, at least I thought you said that

Fixing it right now. I'm really hyped. This was practically all they needed to do.
I only hope that my Magicka Sorcerer can finally get nerfed enough so others are worth taking in Vet trials. I want to main a Mag Warden which is trash atm but being made viable.

You can imagine my hype

Interesting... they just said starting a new character you are FORCED to play the new tutorial, no choice, and then if you travel to original zones, you are then met with a hooded figure... presumably then you are FORCED to play the Wailing Prison all over again. ::eyeroll:: So much for what they said originally that you would be able to choose whether or not you wanted a new character to start in Morrowind or original alliance location.

Yep but they will likely no longer be insanely OP which they currently are. As a Magicka Sorcerer DPS since launch and someone who has completed vMoL HM many times, I can tell you very easily that Volatile Familiar+Daedric Prey is way too strong.

That's funny, last night I was thinking a buff to blade cloak was needed to help get stam DPS to be accepted in trials, though we're kidding ourselves if we think this alone will do it. They are still outclassed by magicka in terms of AoE DPS by a pretty wide margin and even with the buff to blade cloak, it will still pale in comparison to harness magicka. It's a start though.

It's nice to see they are buffing Warden, although I would like to see more DPS from the Winter side... making one morph tankish and the other DPS... giving players more options.

Cool, i just missed it when they talked about it. I have a Mag Sorc too, i honestly dont like using pets, never have in a MMO but i use VF cause like you said, it is really strong lol.

    No what he said was

Question: What about armor changes, light armor, medium amour heavy armor I know we made changes previously

Answer: We made a lot of changes and really the big one was more on the sustain side we definitely want to evaluate those especially with the light and heavy attacks see how those work and then just continue to monitor and evaluate

But it's just vague, I can't tell if they made changes to the upcoming PTS or if there will be no changes.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_RichLambert Some clarification please, pushing 7 armor type builds would be so nice.

In a way it kinda sucks because I just created a new Sorc utilizing a VF/DP build... although I'll be creating a new Warden on the 22nd, so I may just have to leave my Sorc where he's at and play my other characters for awhile.

IMO I don't think it was vague at all... he said they've made changes and are waiting to see how they play out; I didn't gather from what he said that they added any more to the next PTS or Live.

If you didn't gather if it was changes on the next cycle from what it currently is or if he meant they made changes for the base PTS that means it's vague ;)

I think the buff to heavy attack resource sustain will push the PvP meta more toward heavy armor again because of the Rapid Mending passive which increases resources restored from heavy attacks by 25%. They already had to nerf this from 50% to 25% because it restored too much resources. Now it has been indirectly buffed again.

Also pretty upset about Wrobel basically telling magblades to go fly a kite when asked about why they took away stam restore from siphoning attacks leaving us as the only class incapable of converting magicka to stam in some way.

It's interesting that they seem to already have a whole host of things going into the LIVE update and not making them available for people to test on PTS.

They probably will. I looked in depth at the skill lines and how to buff Mag Warden DPS. There is no way to do this in a balanced way without involving Winter's Embrace more.

Wrobel did say that at one point Winter's Embrace was much more DPS-focused. I'm sure they will go back to that at least slightly. My guess would be a buff to all of their cold DPS as well as maybe a new morph to use.

I have my own ideas on how they could buff Mag Warden DPS a lot without affecting PvE in my thread here. Would not be too surprised if some of the ideas I had were implemented. I say this because it would be very difficult to go about it any other way without nerfing them in other ways or causing other balance issues. Regardless these are just my thoughts.
