It's dead, was stood in grahtwood for 15 minutes waiting on someone to start something like a trial etc and 2 people in those 15 minutes asked to do pledges.

The population in capital cities has dropped significantly over the past few months and could well be a result of housing offering players shelter.

Would be interesting to see the figures but I doubt that will happ

Well, it's a bad idea to PuG pledges, more so trials. I've had the misfortune of having to farm some Sanctuary jewelry and the 3 runs I had in veteran Banished Cells I have reminded me why PuGs suck badly: 25K group DPS on most bosses (I was tanking and pulling 30-45% of the group DPS) and a couple of wipes at the boss because people don't know how to block or shield and stand in the fire as if they are invulnerable. So probably more people have realized how and randoms are on average, be them from the toll or the zone chat, and joined guilds to do group activities.

ESO has very little competition. Particularly on console. It isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

ESO will have to deal with Sea of Theives, Destiny 2, BDO console release and Tera console release eventually. Population is guaranteed to fall on the console side of things. Probably somewhere more in line with the pc population.

While I think events like the end of the latest gen and console players typically being slow to upgrade is going to contribute. More than anything I just don't think ZOS can spit out enough quality content to keep players invested in the face of upcoming titles.

Ya know, it's pretty darn sad to see games dying... I was just over on DCUO trying to run their 'event' and I'm trying to do the bounty mission and I'm shouting in chat for help... and NO ONE answers... I was the sole person in the entire event. This after they combined PC/PS servers a year ago. Sure it may be a weekday, but even in ESO a weekday is pretty populated and you never find ZERO people... and an 'event' should draw even more people to it.

ESO will not die this is the reason why, When a MMO dies it's because it does not generate content or not enough content to keep the players in tune in the game itself.

1-6 months after update 14, eso is pretty dead now only lives when hordes of casual farmers arrives for eso events , no proper guild mechanics , no live support , no ah or meaningful economy system - if you dont farm you will get nothing, no reason to be a crafter, dlc are worse and worse since orsinium dlc which was great, thiefguild killed pvp, dark brotherhood was fine but 2 dungeon dlc ? lol where is the rest of it :D and now coming eso 2.0? nah just morrowind and more crown crates,
dungeons are empty there is no people to find for fast hardmode run, trials are empty after farmser got their achievements and the rest plays eso just because they play with friends (like me) not because the contents is awesome this is year 2017 and eso with each update feels more like sims next dlc instead like proper mmo expansion

If they don't fix lag and the rng system and add more non combat time passers like that quote: horse racing we never got or spell crafting etc...

I dont see much lasting now add a new class every major dlc and i see a longer life especially if they can add most of the orginal es series archetypes to start as.

    Ex:
    necromancer
warrior(i mean real warrior with all skills being stam with a few magicka morphs)
Battle mage: different layout than pet sorcs different elements.

Well, we may be in for some very dry seasons. If Morrowind is what they consider an expansion and we're only getting one a year, that 30 hours has a lot of time to fill. If its still around when ES6 comes out, that will empty the servers on all platforms. There's got to be an actual expansion that expands the map and gives us new abilities somehow. The game just won't survive with their current plan. I already forgot what the fourth thing. There's an expansion, a "dlc", dungeons and that's all I remember.

And changing the game every four to six months isn't going to help.

Just like other lore based long term role playing games that had it's based ideas from D&D pen and paper days "EQ, WoW" It has a fan cults following..... As long as it keeps bringing out new content, lore based story quests, and feed the apitites of it's fan boys/girls the game can fesably last forever.

ZoS knows it needs new blood now and then so doing free to play introductory weekends and showing off sparkly new content at gamers conventions like E3 will spawn new players, and keep old players satisfied.

Biggest challenge to survivability for MMO's is keeping up with new games that come out with up to date graphics, and the ever changing expectations of the gaming world.

Example; My husband and I Alpha and Beta tested and then played WoW for years, but the graphics got outdated,... Yes the ever lasting new content and questing was still there, but once ESO came out with beautiful graphics and game play that matched WoW's we jumped ship for the next best thing. Same thing for us with Meridian 59, Ultima, & EQ. We have progressively changed games based on better graphics, new quests, different play styles, and experiences.

As long as ESO can keep up with the graphics of new games, and keep expanding new story quests, and throw in new classes and races every couple of years or so it should last forever...

Most people don't hang out in zone chat, or even have it enabled. Especially if they're doing pledges and such (they're going to do that with friends and guildies, not PUGs).

Even in the most remote areas in Tamriel I still run into people, and of course the major hubs are always loaded. And then there's Cyrodil which is a whole other ball of wax.

This game is not dead. Far from it. Claiming it's dead just because you can't find a PUG for pledges is like claiming rock climbing is dead because you can't find people who will free-climb Yosemite with you at the trail head.

It will probably remain relevant on PC for quite some time.

However, I don't see it lasting very long on console due to their horrendous optimization. There's just not much else to play MMO wise on console as of now. I expect that to change within the next couple years.

After that, I expect a lot of people to jump ship. Myself included.

BDO coming to console probably next year, Tera online coming towards the end of the year. I think tamerial will be a very quiet place indeed...

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

If they don't fix PvP before the next major update, I am sure the remaining of the PvP community will leave. We need skill-based competitive PvP.

Then you are playing the wrong type of game.

MMORPG is the very worst platform for skill based competitive PvP.

Because MMORPG combat is about Gear and Build, and NOT Skill.
