I'll admit, I haven't been playing this game for as long as some have. I started back when Thieves Guild just came out, and Maw of Lorkhaj was all the rage. And I really got into the game because it reminded me so much of Skyrim. It seems lately, though, that ZoS has been struggling to maintain its live server with all the updates and patches, and lately, I have seen their performance drop. It has come to a point where it needs to be addressed.
Below are a few of the examples I found offhandedly exploring beloved Tamriel.
1) ZoS struggling to place furniture: I understand wholly how difficult it can be setting items down. Putting a quill into an ink well was horrifically difficult my first time around. And yet, in Overworld, I am able to find
torches hovering midair, trees needing neither roots nor to be planted into soil, and
alchemy ingredients just hanging out mid-air. Now, some of you might cry, "Magic!" But although there is magic around, clearly it is not being used upon any of these items. (If you would like to see them for yourself, please visit either Wayrest in Stormhaven or the Secluded Nirncrux Mine in Craglorn.)
2) On the note of furnishings, what is up with the Dark Brotherhood Achievement Hourglass?
Have any of you seen this thing? It's nearly taller than my Daggerfall outlook, which made it impossible to place it anywhere within OR without. Who has a chain that long on an hourglass? It is supposed to give me a link to the Divines above? Should I climb the chain to meet Akatosh?
3) Difficulty using NPC merchants/bankers: Some of this is actually disruptive to gameplay. I have had issues of NPCs suddenly
disappearing into the floor to do so. This left me without a banker in the IC Sewers because I'm not allowed to use my Crown Store purchased banker in Cyrodiil or IC. And although that's perfectly fine, it isn't okay if I can also not use any other banker because they decide to go on lunch break in the middle of war. And I've had similar issues with
guild merchants, which can make it quite difficult to take purchasing items seriously when you're staring down at the NPC, trying to figure out which angle is required to speak to her.
4)
Butterflies getting Spell Power Cure is on the top of my list for "immersion breaking moments" in this game. I don't know why something you pluck for Butterfly Wings and Insect Parts can become empowered, but I doubt it's harming the wind anymore than it previously was, and it's taking this buff away from my allies, who need it to help me kill Overworld bosses.
5) Finally, and the greatest sin of all,
The Revelers. ZoS, have you set up so many repetitive holiday events now that you've forgotten to clean up your parties? Because I must admit, this is the biggest fauxpas for me. Revelers, in the middle of April, almost May, still waiting for us to come entertain them. I mean, this isn't Christmas in July. They need to go.
Seriously, ZoS, before you start looking about Morrowind, look to the live servers. There are plenty of issues that still remain that desperately need your attention before the expansion hits!
