I got a beta invite for my ps4 account I am also very active player on pc. So what is the point of inviting people to the beta if they can't participate? ? I'm downloading the pts I suppose for nothing now. Smh

Hey guys, apologies for the confusion. We unintentionally sent some emails for beta to some console players. Beta and the PTS is, and remains, only on PC/Mac. Some of you may have received access to the closed beta forum section; this has been resolved, and you no longer have access since this is strictly for beta feedback.

Again, apologies for the mix-up here.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_JasonI

    Pretty angry here.

Fortunately (for me), I did not purchase a 2nd copy of ESO in order to participate in the Beta; but I think it's competely understandable that some console players did.

There was no way for them to know for sure that this was a mistake, because it took over 24 hours for anyone from ZOS to respond to the numerous threads and questions (both here and in the Beta forum) about what was going on. There was no way that ZOS didn't notice that many threads about this topic.

Some of us (myself included) did contact Support. But they, apparently, did not know this was a mistake either.

I do my best not to pile on here in the forums, because I know you all already take a lot of crap from some users. Some of it is likely unjustified, but--unfortunately--some of it is.

In this case, the way this situation has been handled (once it finally was responded to) was some *** poor customer service. That is the part that makes me angry.

And that is the part that makes me need to take a break.

It's probably VERY important to note that the eso account and the forum account are separate things. Mine are different usernames. And my gamertag is a third username.

I now have all 3 linked in my eso account - my console gamertag, the pc platform game, and the test server game. It shows 500 crowns on my pc game, and I know I've got 19,000 crowns on my eso+ gamertag console account.

I can log into the test server, and make use of the max level templates, and test all the base game change content. I can't do any of the expansion content.

If console people who bought the pc game want to get on the public test server, THEY STILL CAN.

    ---
HERE IS HOW I ADDED THE PC TEST SERVER TO MY CONSOLE-BASED ACCOUNT.
    ---

First, go to your MASTER ESO ACCOUNT http://account.elderscrollsonline.com/ and log in there. It's different than the forum, and you haven't needed to use it at all since the first day you installed the console game, so you probably want to click the forgotten username link. I wasted an hour resetting the password several times before considering that I was getting the username wrong - WTF I felt like such a dumb arse.
After you work out that username and login, go ahead and install the pc game, and log in to that using your newly rediscovered master account info. Do not try to log in to the test server first, the login throws an error for some reason if you haven't logged in to the normal PC server first.
It will prompt you to link the account. Go ahead.
After all that, the base game test area is open to you. Expansion is not.
ESO Subscriptions on console do not carry over to the pc game.

Pretty sure everyone here who had received a Beta invite already knew that. Expect that the PC version of the game isn't free, and some people who have been invited to Beta have actually bought the PC version for the BETA testing not just PTS testing.

Well a number of people are commenting about not being able to pts, when they still can do so.

Burgererer was wondering how console people could have possibly gotten the idea we could participate, when it was spelled out in the email.

So there's a bunch of people commenting here that do not seem to realize that eso account is separate from forum is separate from gamertag. Example: just look back to the threads on buying a crown pack and how they separate between the pc-na and pc-eu servers and you'll see that even you so-called 'master race' people do not understand what you are yammering about sometimes.

So I'm trying to help. Shoot me.

They thaught they were going to see and experience Morrowind beta on the PTS 6 weeks before it's released. They got an invite, so they bought the game so they could play it. Now their invites have been revoked. Totally sucks.

Btw, linking your account will do nothing for you. It would be like logging in on a different server you have no toons on. Nothing there. The PTS has templates though, so you can experience max level toons.

It was like $12. A guildie got it for $7.

    It's hardly costly.
Edit: well, it's hardly costly if you shopped around.

It was a fudge up on ZOS and they've admitted their mistake.

As much as I'm disappointment I won't be able to participate in the Closed Beta, I'm moving on.

So should those still bitter about it.

This is a bad ***-up. A very bad ***-up ZOS needs to make things right for the console players who got these emails.
    Burgererer wrote: »
@LilySix They've already apologized twice, what more can they do? Give them free crowns, eso+, pay for their PC copies, etc. for the customers' bad decision over an accident?
Stop trying to shift the blame to the players who did something very reasonable (and something suggested by ZOS CS) in the expectation that ZOS wouldn't have *** up so badly. At a bare minimum, yes ZOS needs to refund those players who bought PC copies to link their console accounts to in order to get beta access. Ideally they should provide some crowns and/or ESO+ time to their console accounts as well as a "sorry we *** up so badly" gesture.
    Burgererer wrote: »
I don't understand what people expect to hear from ZOS.

And lying about a price/withholding information is extremely different than accidently sending out an email to the wrong group of people.
How about accidentally posting the wrong price or accidentally leaving off a piece of information? Is that different than accidentally sending out an email to people it shouldn't have gone to?

You could just as easily say that the emails that went out were lying to the console players about being invited to the beta. Either situation can just as easily be framed as an accident by the company or as a lie by the company. And the fact is that it doesn't matter which it is. Whether it's an accident or a lie, the company that *** up needs to make things right.

This is seriously bad business ethics. Retracting access to the PTS YOUR COMPANY "accidentally" provided AFTER people went out to purchase the game AGAIN in order to help test without offering ANYTHING to compensate for their lost money/time. If I go to a restaurant and they mess up my order I'd get offered free desert or a coupon to make up for it. All that was offered here was a "sorry our bad" and that's it.

How do you make a mistake like this and wait days to address it? Instead of letting these people help test things you just hit the undo button.

You punished customers for a mistake you made. Simple as that. That's like as an airline company, dragging someone off a plane after they paid for their ticket and then not giving them a refund or a new flight. It's like an insurance company canceling your policy with no refund after you paid for it because they miscalculated your risk factor.

If this wasn't the video game business, and it was a company more in the public eye ZOS would have serious consequences from pulling such a stunt.

Hey guys! Just to follow up from yesterday, if you play on console but also have a PC account to play on the PTS and received a closed beta invite, just shoot a ticket over to Support and they'll get you straightened out. We don't want to lock you out of testing and giving feedback. :) Thanks, and apologies for the mix up!

Who is the person who was able to figure out the beta invite mistakes and fix them? Could you promote this person to the Cyrodill PVP Programming team, perhaps they could offer insight to that broken area of the game.

Do we need to send that ticket from pc, or console? Being that the invite was tied to console related account. Or is there a way we can resolve this through email?

But you don't buy another account.

You buy the PC version, and link it to your existing account. At least, that's how I understand it works.

Ah, that makes sense. They should reinstate beta access for the players who have done this then.

Not to mention the people who communicated with zos support which told them how to do it all without mentioning they really wasn't going to have access or that they would lose access.

I was actually pretty happy when we got our invites, was like "finally we can get in on some of the testing and maybe it's one step closer to us getting our own pts to help fix some of the problems console players seem to consistently run into". Guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. Also, hey DJ. @DjMuscleboy02

Are we not talking about the availability of console players to test changes in the game we play? The fact that it was a "mistake" in the first place was a slap in the face. Every major update on xbox has come with game breaking issues, we would like to get ahead of those and just enjoy the game. We have people who want to participate in testing, who want to help out but we have no outlets.

This was more a jab at the still broken since homestead launch pve on console. And yes I do think there should be a pts on console, but I also understand that with the way Microsoft and Sony operate it's not a realistic possibility.
