All that bothers me about it, is that they for example said, that it will be compareable in size to Cyrodiil.
But it's really just a usual dlc area, yet they sell it for the same price as a new game.
They don't have to include it into ESO plus if it bothers them, but not selling it like it was a new game.

But I don't think it will be a flop despite that. If it has an interesting story and some interesting quests, then maybe it'll be good.

Guys this is another extremist thread. Morrowind is not going to "flop" it's just got too much going for it.

in terms of Content: (new dungeons, trials, BGs, story line, new land opened up in game, new class, etc etc etc) Morrowind is a huge bang for your buck. The backlash and knee jerk rejection of the new systems however warranted or not they are can be easily altered by ZOS development over time.

but until that is decided or determined needs to happen, there is literally an enormous amount of content coming in this chapter update.

you cant stop the train. ESO is one of a kind. It doesnt have any competition on console market or really PC in terms of fantasy orient mmorpg DX11 supported games go

The TES community that was still adamantly anti-ESO has even been hyped about VVardenfell. ESOrrowind could pretty much just be a map of Vvardenfell ripped directly from TES3 with some new paint all over it and nothing else, and it will still be held up as GOTY because that's just how Morrowind fans are.

Yes we would and it won't be anything close to that it will be a stripped down *** son of Morrowind like TG and DB.

I am still on the fence, and it's getting hard to justify supporting the directions ZOS is taking. Plus it feels like a bit of a cash grab. Why am paying a monthly subscription only to have to fork out more cash for this DLC. There has been a lot of impassioned arguments and criticism on these forums. Deltia is quitting. but
I get the impression that the PTS notes were just the straw that broke the camel's back. I think I will wait and see how things shake out before deciding whether or not to buy it.

The update is ***. Idk zos plans to learn from turning the game upside down, and shaking it. Now we have what, six weeks left? That doesn't make alot of room to revert alot of the changes, come up with a reliable means to analyze and pinpoint balance issues, and then correct any major bugs introduced by this 1 patch segment alone. And there is more to come.

From what I see, zenimax is not in a stable form of thinking/reason, we likely will not see a realistic approach to balancing changes. I think what will happen is the floor gets lowered alot due to these changes, alot more nitpicking for teams, and quite likelt we will see many more game changing bugs involved with the combat system for the next 6mo-3years.

Will it flop? Most likely. We will see, that's all we can do at this point. I don't see many people buying the expanions for a p2w no crown class thst will be nerfed in 3 months time due to 'p2w' forum outrage. Role players are the only winners in this update.

I am confused and have a dumb question having not followed too much of the details for Morrowind. Is it a DLC addition on ESO or a stand alone game? From what little I have read it seems to be stand alone. If it is stand alone, then I definitely will not participate. Not sure what I will do if it is actually a DLC addition to the main game.

I think they are deliberately confusing people by calling it an "expansion" but it's a DLC.

Just like they deliberatly confusd people with the patch notes? carefully phrasing things yo sound like a + when it's a big *** -. Or saying a certain skill is affected by ur max lvl but is a nerf at a certain resource ammount. <--- when adding cp points alone buffs your resources well beyond this point. So you literally cannot be a dps class with 600 assigned cp to get your max resources below this point. Except for argonian tanks, amd sorc class as a whole, all we have is a horrifying mess. The sugar coating like we're 6 years old and can't play is quite hateful move toward the community.

It's just like zenimax to patronize their player base like this. Gentlemen, I am triggered. Do not forget however, that when you apply cp, your resource pools get bigger, and you gain levels. THIS NERFS YOU, YOU CANNOT GET AROUND IT IN ANY WAY NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO The only workaround would be to not use cp points. Did I mention you get more cp with this patch?

Don't be fooled by this bs. With morrowind they actually are designing it so that you get weaker as you level. They are lying to you. They are patronizing your intelligence, openly, in the developer comments. They will not b able to balance this game like this, period. Infact, they probably don't even care. This patch is absolutely critical as it will be a content changing marker for what this company can get away with, or won't get away with. Put your foot down, or pull your wallet out.

    Yes,

It will make a lot of money, because the name/brand sells itself.
    Typical with all MMORPGs,
They don't make expansions good enough, and purposely leave stuff out, for future things to sell
Morrowind will be a flop because it doesnt have spell crafting, no acrobatics, no levitation, the dunmer doesnt look right (ever since Oblivion, they have been making dark elves differently), there will be no eerie feeling like you experience in the original Morrowind, there is no war with the houses (you join all of them, even if there is a war, it doesnt feel like a war, just like how it is right now with DC, EP, AD... there isnt anything going on, even though developers think something is going on).

So it will make money, sure, its a big company, they launch anything it makes money.
Will this expansion be anything spectator?
Nope, just the same as a World of Warcraft expansion.
Typical, new zones, new monster, new skills.
There wont be any Morrowind feeling to it.

Just look at Thieves Guild as an example.
Just another average DLC/expansion. 6 out 10 rating... ESO pays critics... it will be 8.8 out of 10. Just like the other companies that pay critics.

    Just so you know ratings.
6/10 is average for high school passing
    7/10 is average for undergrad
    8/10 is average for grad
    9/10 is average for doctoral
    10/10 that's innovative.

A review for a game you haven't played is complete nonsense. And considering ESO has a score of 71 on metacritic from launch, your are just spouting ideological propaganda.

Thieves Guild was quite comparable to TG in single player games. And the zone was definitely not typical. It was an expansive city in 3 dimensions with all the catwalks.

I would guess that Morrowind won't be spectacular because DLC is almost never spectacular. It is just more content for a game you already know. Sometimes you hit a home run with the story like Lair of the Shadowbroker. It was also great fun to have TES introduce its first companion with depth in Dawnguard. Sometimes you can fix a broken game as with Diablo 3. Strategy games like Civ 5 can make an excellent game an all-time great game. But almost always, the big impact is from initially playing the game and DLC is just new stories and a few new mechanics. There won't be a fundamental change in Morrowind. CP already exists. One Tamriel was already released. Morrowind is just more of the same, but hopefully with a great narrative.

After you seen content the developer puts out... Its the same kind of quality again and again.
You don't have to play the actual new content to know what... The developer is going to put in an expansion.

    You want to mention games?
Look at WWE11, WWE12, WWE 13, WWE14, WWE.... All them games a JOKE. You dont even need to play ANY of the new ones. WWE been slacking since 2007. Which reinforces my point. Its predictable to tell what the quality of new content is going to be.

ESO has already forced exlcusions on itself, which pretty much makes it even more predictable how the new content is going to be. You cannot be innovative with restrictions on yourself. 1. cannot fly (levitate) 2. cannot make multiple npcs AND pcs attack each other (fury) 2. cannot make spells (spellcrafting) 3. cannot jump super high (acrobatics) 4. cannot run the speed of lightning (boots of blinding speed/ athletics) 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10....

    Restriction after restriction after restriction
Great Countries are those that are free of restrictions
Great Games are those that are free of restrictions

ESO??? Full of restrictions... Cannot kill that NPC, too important. Cannot get launched into enemy AvA keep.
Ladders into keeps??? RESTRITCTED 100% RESTRICTION labeled.

    Restriction Restriction Restriction.

Can it be done??? YES! But we restrict that. Thats ESO policy, to restrict your fun.

You seem bitter. Do you need a hug?

He didn't sound bitter, actually he makes some good points. Why can't you lean a ladder against a keep nobody has looked at in 12hrs. Also zeni indeed balances by restrictions, rather than offing diversitt, and options, their approach is often 'well you can't do this anymore'. Rather than offer us incentives to come out of our box and create alternative metas they just keep making the box smallers while the weaker players get pushed out, and the stronger players selfishly guard whatever is left against the next update.

    Tl;dr

Balance = offering players players enough choices that they 'choose' their builds rather than be forced into them.

What we have now is, the best builds get destroyed and we're forced to find the next best. We need a 'what's best for me at this time/event'. 'Wear this or else', isn't very balamced.

    1. Yes, it is a cash grab.
    2. You sub for crafting bags. If that isn't why you sub, you shouldn't be subbing.
    3. PTS notes are fine. I doubt the changes now will have as much impact as adding CP had. For some reason people freak out over "nerfs" when nerfs and buffs are the same thing so long as you keep overall power equal. Crappy parts of update still have plenty of time to be rebalanced.
    4. I don't like homogenization of classes. Unfortunately, there are quite a few people who want their favorite class to be the best at things other classes were designed for.

All the drama really doesn't matter to me. I will play the story at some point because it is more TES content..

I disagree 100 % with the statement nerfs and buffs are the same thing as long as they keep the power balanced between the classes.

Let's put it this way, we have a strong character like the ones we have now, that with the correct group setup you can sustain and do good damage at the same time, rotations are fun, figuring out which group setups and gear setups work better is fun, and you feel powerful, as you should because this is a game, why would you immerse yourself in a game if your character looks, and is weak as ***?

Then there are nerfs, so let's say that you nerf every single aspect of the game, damage goes through the drain, sustain also, and the fun of the game goes through the drain as well, because now you are forced to run regen setups, and use heavy attack builds to do some decent damage* before you weren't forced to do this, this update won't solve the diversity problem we have in this game, to do that they would have to make new sets, and buff abilities accordingly so they deal about the same damage.

So even though it's true that nerfs and buffs can archive the same result (balance) for me it's pretty clear which one is the winner, and if all those buffs are leading to power creep? Just buff the bosses accordingly, or even better create a new dungeon mode for very experienced players.

Of course if something is completely and utterly op then it should be nerfed, but i personally don't think that sustain was op, you couldn't sustain for more then 1 min if you didn't have any sort of buff, and even if you used ele drain, you would get at max 1 and a half min of sustain.

*(now of course this is an opinion, but i challenge you to find anyone who would prefer to spam heavy attack all day long then having an actual rotation).

And lastly, an mmo should have some kind of progression, you and your character should never become weaker as time passes (you might adjust some aspects, but in the end your overall damage output shouldn't be less then before).

The only time i would allow for a reduction in numbers would be in a situation like what happened after wow mists of pandaria, when characters would have started to hit for billions of damage in a single hit, but let's be real, eso is far from that, and probably never will hit those numbers. an even then i still don;t think that it was such an important matter. Just reduce the font size, or just squish the number a bit, so instead of covering you screen with an enormous number, like 1000000000 just reduce it to 1000 mil or 1 bil, or even better, let player customize that aspect, if they wanna see the full number, let them see the full number, an so on.

Say I have a character with 10000 health and 1000 health regen. ZOS decides to multiple all stats by 10, including mob/boss stats. I am now buffed to 100000/10000 due to x10 buff!

Or say they decide to buff health and damage x2, but do not touch regen. Now my health and damage are x2. Nice buff!

Or say they decide to nerf regex by 50% while keeping health and damage the same. Now my health regen is 1/2. Lame nerf. Oh wait, this is 100% the exact same thing as the buff from the previous example. Nerf=buff.

You also beg the question. It is still to be determined if we are less powerful or more powerful post patch. Many have provided arguments for DPS being higher based on patch notes. The magnitude of numbers don't matter. This is obviously true in Cyrodiil, where everyone is on the same scale. They also don't matter in PvE. They only matter in how they compare to mob and boss stats. Power isn't in numbers. It is in how successful you are at killing things and not being killed. If post changes, people can't complete content anymore, there was a relative decrease in power. It could be because mobs were "buffed" or players were "nerfed", but they are all the same thing.

Spamming heavy attacks is neither nerf nor buff. It is just poor design. Removing effects likewise makes combat less interesting. But power should not be conflated with interesting combat mechanics. I agree with complaints that replacing managing active effects is must more interesting and skillful combat than spamming heavy attacks. The more resources people have, the more effort they have to put into keeping up offensive and defensive effects. So less regen can mean less interesting combat, even if it isn't a nerf if DPS ends up higher. I have a hard time accepting statements claiming that imbalances should be addressed through buffs and not nerfs. Keep in mind that PvE enemies would also be boosted to match increased numbers.

Did you see the video of somebody soloing a Trials boss? Yeah these are good balance changes. You should not be able to solo a Trial boss with any class no matter what.

Maybe if in like 5 years if they raise the item level to like 500. Then sure you should be over powered enough to do it, but at this point that should not be doable. That shows just how over powered classes are due to the CP system and the sustainablity.

Morrowind isnt anything special. They have f'd up the game mechanics that much combined with new armor sets that people will be grinding for armor sets for the next 3 months. Gee wilikers that sounds like fun

    It's the end.

    I'm so sad :'(

I enjoyed this game for so much time and now I'm forced to leave because I'm a solo PvPr :'(
