ofSunhold✭✭✭✭✭I'd like to see Morrowind, and I'll stick for that. Presumably that's why they timed it this way.
But I switched servers to play BG with a specific group of people, one of whom was gone almost immediately (nothing to do with the game) and one has quit already, demoralized over the whole direction of this change. Expecting to lose another, he's just throwing himself on the PTS right now trying to make it work, but less and less happy about it.
So there's three of the seven of us, leaving just enough for Battlegrounds with no alternate team composition. Not excited about that. Also not happy about the general direction the game is going.
I know there's always some amount of freak-out when a patch drops. They make so many changes at once, of course there is - and these are just the intended changes, there are always a bunch of "oops, wait what now?" when the update goes live that aren't fun either.
This one is different, and I hope for the game's sake They are noticing that as much as I am.Classes that don't need any class ability nerfs: Nightblades, Dragonknights, Sorcs, Templars, Wardens.2 -

✭✭✭✭I dislike the balancing as much as anyone, but it is way too early to be quitting for people that are quitting over the PTS. I want to see what the next two iterations look like. I think Templar are up the creek without a paddle(reverting the Templar changes would go against their direction entirely), but I can see them walking back some of the other changes. You may have misunderstood my comment about not spending money as an effect on the beta and it's not. It's a statement that Im done working hard to maximize my character to the best of my ability only to have the devs nerf everything about it to supplement a new class they dont have the imagination to make good on it's own.
And the issue arises when they take an MMO and try to make a balance between questing and PvP. Unless you have 2 formats(and yes, there are games that do) to accommodate both SEPARATELY, you will fail every time. Fighting against NPCs is never going to require the same thing as PvP. You have to have an additional load out, gear, stats, skills, etc. ... for PvP and NPC. PERIOD. NO ONE has successfully merged the 2.
So... as you can see, Im not one of those (expletives deleted) that is out to homogenize the games. Im out to make the better. Not by what I can do. But by what the game SHOULD be able to do. What an MMO is SUPPOSED to be. And it's NOT supposed to cater to everyone. It's supposed to be hard. Fine example is Tic Tac Toe. You dont play that any more because it's too easy. So before you decide to go all wackadoodle on some one, ask some questions first. Find out their motivations first.
This is my leisure time activity. I spend anywhere from 2-14 hours a day on the game. I want to complete the achievements. If my focus meshes with some one else's we join up. If not, I remain solo til it does. That's the beauty of ES. There is always some one grinding. So you can always jump into that. There is always some one PVPing and you can jump into that. There is always some one doing something that can overlap what you are after.
This game is great. Destroying what I worked for isnt. And if I can get that message across in a beta... Im going to. But Im not going to screw it up. At least not on purpose. But I soon won't care anymore about getting the most kills in pvp anymore. I used to want to get on and snag as many kills as humanly possible, but now, nah. People are zerging hard taking maps with a "small group" of 15 people who are Templars wearing cheese builds.

I may have overreacted a little too. I'll admit. But don't be surprised. All I see on the forums lately is neverending negativity, hate, flame-wars etc. People just going insane over patch notes majority haven't even properly tested. That's what drives me so hostile.

✭✭✭✭I've pretty much stopped playing. Haven't bothered signing in for a few days now. I've lost all joy of playing this game after reading through the PTS patch notes and knowing what's coming.
That's where I'm at. When the patch notes positively dumpstered the class identity of 6 of 8 of your max level characters and a 7th wasn't and still isn't all that viable, there is no joy in Mudville.
Someone posted a few days ago that ESO was a game where you start every pvp night excited and end every night in frustration. Broken skills, broken sets, game bugs, insane class imbalance... Well, I've taken breaks before and come back. I'm not calling it quits entirely until I see how this patch shakes out. It's a B2P game so you never fully leave, you just take a break and then return when you realise (a) that the game you went to isn't a panacea and (b) the thing you were annoyed by didn't turn out to be anything like as bad as you were led by others to believe it would be. The sort of upset we're seeing here currently about the changes coming with Morrowind is no different to the upset we saw about all the previous changes - not least the crown crates when people were leaving on moral principles only to return - and the game has continued to grow all the while.0 -

People don't even have any solid evidence nor reliable testing data and they're already throwing everything away.
I've heard from beta testers who hated the patch notes... They're actually having loads of fun over there. Guess why? Because they didn't just give up like little crybabies and found a way.
This is how every major MMO works anyway. You get new stuff/gear/skills/rebalance every quarter or so.

It's not the game burning people out, its people burning themselves out.
I don't think that is true for everyone. The point I burn out is after I have repeated the same content so many different times. Or if I am chasing that carrot but never feel like I am making any progress at reaching it.
Games can definitely burn people out in the 2 scenarios listed above.
I don't play all day every day, not even every day. But I have been burned out with eso multiple times throughout the life of the game. Not because I played all day every day, but because of stretches of time where there is no additional content. Or through repeated nerfs where I feel like I am getting weaker instead of stronger.

This game has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, that potential is being squashed by the genre and business environment that surrounds it. Just like Doom had too many clones for you to remember/care about, the MMORP-Not-So-Sandbox-G imitation is enough demonstration to indicate that the development team is unwilling to take real risks with gameplay, and instead is choosing the failed route of copying, and trying to hook as many gambling addicts as they can to keep something sub-par going.
Unless something amazing happens, like an end to rng loot, vet dungeon score runs, SOME carrot on a stick to care about since gear will cease to be the carrot, class dissolution other than the story npc reactions(LIKE ALL THE OTHER TES GAMES), end to CP/Vet levels, and a real focus on improving the core gameplay system (animation canceling is not skill when the majority macros)... well
Guess I'll log on once in a great while to rp with my wife around the server... until it crashes.
Seriously, if I wanted a grind game, Path of Exile did it way better AND the progression was consistent. Loot in ESO reminds me of World of Warcraft, but just about every piece you need is legendary.
Oh, and don't bother mooing at me; if you're content with sub-par entertainment, performing less than your full potential because RNG-ZOS didn't bless you, or just trolling... then chew your grass, cow. This is a one-and-done post.6 -
