Would you have pre-ordered Morrowind had you known about the upcoming nerfs?

I don't pre order. It allows companies to get away with too much ***.
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

Every MMORPG I have played over the last 20 years has constantly chased the elusive "class balance". I don't like it, but it comes with the territory.

It's probably the one thing that has the potential to drive me away from the genre at some point. Sometimes I think I'm becoming too much of a curmudgeon to have to change my play style so often.

Everytime I feel like I L2P, they change the rules! :p

That said, I still find ESO to be a great experience overall, will once again adapt to the changes, and have no plans to leave anytime soon.

Sammme. There's some good titles out, zos can't balance ***. I'll hang onto my money and decide for myself zos has earned it at a later date. If not I'll just play battlefield until I feel like comming back. Maybe 3rd quarter.

I have played MMO's for years and always adapted to changes and nerfs. I don't play ESO because of my sustain and epic deeps, I play because I enjoy the setting, content and community.

    Exactly.

Adapting to change is a key skill in an MMO, and this change is a significant one. It isn't the first time they have done this, and it won't be the last.

They have not killed the game with changes like this, despite many predictions. The game is more popular today than it was back the last time they "killed the game". Gamers are nothing, if not passionate, about their drama.

The good players will adapt to the changes and thrive. The excellent players will do more than thrive and people will call for additional nerfs.

Besides, every change in the game is called a nerf. The term is used too much, and is often misused.

Oh my god...more sky is falling crap. As a Templar myself I say get over it and adapt. This game was already super easy in most aspects so embrace the challenge. Hell I changed over from years of magplar play since it was so easy in pve. I also play a healing dk so I think leveling the healing so other classes can have a chance for main healer is great (and yes I saw their changes to shields major mending)

Ill still be getting Morrowind but I wont be participating in anything like PvP, Trials or Dungeons for the forseeable future. I dont have a problem changing my builds to suite the meta. But I have a problem with them stripping a sense of powerfulness from the upper echelons of the game (which includes more than just the most elite of gamers) so that their Battlegrounds can look more enticing. And thats what this really comes down to. Players are blaming Carebears and Casuals but ZOS isnt doing this for either of them. Theyre doing it because they want Battlegrounds to inheritly behave differently than Cyrodiil. They want it to be short and fast paced so they need to eliminate the ability to prolong fights. And you do that by removing the built in resource management that comes from spending enough time in the game to earn it.

Did not pre-order yet. Waiting to see how resource nerfs really affect gameplay. Resource nerfs are really DPS nerfs in a game where we have 3 years worth of PvE content where maximum DPS is the #1 priority at all times in all PvE content. Did your PUG fail to complete pledge? Almost certainly because of lack of DPS. Did your really good guild, but not super duper elite guild, not clear VMOL? Almost certainly because of lack of DPS. Struggling to clear VMA even after many attempts and knowing the mechanics? Almost certainly because of lack of DPS.

You cannot make a game with PvE content where DPS is the be all and end all of everything, nerf DPS via resource management changes, and not make a pass through all PvE content to adjust for this new meta. Completion rates of all content will plummet and, ironically, it will be felt hardest on "casual content" like pledges and normal Trials and World Bosses and other puggable content. Which will lead to inevitable nerfs to content and we are right back where we started.

ZOS need to just accept that older PvE content will become easier as time passes, treat that as a natural aspect of MMO gaming, and concentrate on newer, more difficult content. Wasting time nerfing players trying to make Trials from years ago just as difficult as when they first came out? And attempting to do that every 3 months? It is a losing battle. Especially as more and more content comes out. Just disable CP in all PvP, let the older PvE content become easier as we gain more CP, and come out with new PvE content that is geared toward the CP cap when that content released.

Letting older content become easier as time passes is a great way to give "new" content to existing players without actually needing to create new content. Truly new content, like Halls of Fabrication, should absolutely be the domain of only the best players. But there is no need to have broad, immense nerfs to all players so that content from years ago returns to being the domain of only the best players. Best players have already cleared VMA 1000 times. I doubt any are looking forward to resource-starved runs that take longer and have lower scores. And I doubt players who are just starting to get the ropes of VMA and feeling excited that they may clear it, will like being knocked backward to the point where it is out of their league again.

There is already a collective groan in my guild when VSO is weekly. It can be hard to find 12 to do it because it is so tedious. Because it is so long, even with our maxed out DPS builds that depend on Worm Cult, Orbs, Elemental Drain, synergies, etc., to keep magicka builds sustained. If we start to need to sacrifice DPS for sustain, making VSO even longer, I see more guild members not wanting to run it. Same goes for VDSA, another piece of content that is not really super difficult, but everything has a billion health and it is tedious and takes forever. Making that take even longer? It just becomes more content that even top players will likely stop doing.

Yeah, you can "nerf DPS via resource management" without adjusting PVE content to compensate. Actually, changing both could very well make both of the changes unnecessary.

The main point I see with what ZOS is doing is that incremental changes they have made over the last few updates, basically since Update 6, have made the combat in the game too easy. This change will make the game harder and require more skill on the part of the player during combat, rather than the skill of the person creating the build.

This is different in ESO, when compared to other MMO games. ZOS is creating a uniform world, which is different from what a lot of MMO games like to do. That means that there should never be older PVE content that is just easier, after time. They have to try to maintain difficulty across all content as they introduce new content, and make balance changes. In the end, the mechanics and effects might get dated, and familiarity with how the content works will improve, but the difficulty should remain the same.

Of course, the challenge here is to not swing the pendulum the other direction. The goal has to be to re-center the combat "pillars" such that the content is not impossible to complete, while eliminating the "easy mode" that has been incrementally added to the game.
