Decided to try out PC ESO finally to see what it's like. (update)

Playing ESO on Xbox for two years now, decided a while ago to buy a copy on Steam when it was dirt cheap just so I had it for that mysterious, (just in case) reason, but never bothered installing it cause you can't transfer accounts. But tonight I just decided to get it done and get my feet wet in the shallow end, to see what the PC version is like. Brand new account, new character, absolutely NOTHING to my name there...should be fun right? Now if only these 59GBs could download faster.

Anything you PC Vet guys can tell me so I know going in?

Keyboard and mouse is awesome.

The look of the UI is worse.

90% of all the problems you had with the games UI or information on console can be fixed with add-ons on PC. (look up Minion / ESO UI for how to download/install them).

You'll see more bots/hacks/cheats if you know what you're looking for.

That's commitment. I would have done this the first year, but not anymore. I'm not spending all that time again to accrue five maxed characters and 750 cp again. Nope. Not for just graphics and UI options.
Good for you OP. You've got the stomach to do it. Are you eventually planning to just stop altogether on Xbox or what?

Moved from Xbox to PC 4 months ago and it is impossible to come back.

The biggest relief for me was, when I used siege for the first time...

The only real thing I miss - to save videos on PC you have to run "replay" thing on "game experience" thingy. Wish there was an easier in resources program as I really wanted to save my 1vs6 fight that happened three times and it was cool...

I play on PC/NA.

I use an Xbox controller with the superior gamepad UI that ZOS saw fit to implement.

The only time I switch back to keyboard and mouse is to bank, craft, and visit traders, because most of the vital addons don't work with the Gamepad UI.

But combat is a different story. There's nothing quite like using an Xbox controller to run dungeons, farm Skyreach, solo bosses, or do pvp. It feels so much smoother with a controller and the haptic feedback is more immersive. This coming from a guy who played WoW competitively for seven years using K&M. I will never go bac to straight keyboard & mouse.

It takes zero time at all to level five characters to 50 if you get a good grind going. A few days maybe. A couple afternoons with the holiday exp bonus.

CP is hard to get maxed, but cp is irrelevant to participate in everything but trials and a couple vet dungeons...and only trials if you make some good dungeon-going friends. No-cp PvP is fun as hell if you're into pvping.

Yeah and that's something I have no wish to do. I work full time and have no time to make a couple day grind out of something I already did. All for enhanced graphics and UI benefits. PS4 is my ESO home. One thing I didn't mention at all, is the people I play with. They've made the journey enjoyable for me. That in itself is irreplaceable. And to rework trust with guilds all over again, make the millions I've already done, all the quests, VMA runs, maxed out crafting, high pvp ranks, gear farming, skyshard farming, six maxed out mounts, having to rebuy all unique mounts again etc.. isn't just a few days. It's the whole two year process all over again.

Now if Zeni allowed us to transfer, then yeah, I'd do it in a heart beat because I know I could convince a good portion of those players to it also.

But Kudos to OP for doing it.

Noticed something immediately. PC version doesn't have the any race any alliance addon, I can't make a Pact Kitty character.

I guess I have to make a random character, get in game, then get the addon through the crown store? Or I guess I could just make a Nord or something..

The any race/alliance is a pre-order bonus. You need to buy either the adventurers pack from the Crown Store or pick up an old pre-order code.

Good luck! I don't have a console but I made a character on EU recently(I generally play NA). I'm still playing NA of course but I'm checking the ping(much better for me) /community(seems nice, seems nice on NA to me too) /pvp(haven't had much chance to see it yet) /stuff and just enjoying a fresh start to the game on EU. It's actually somewhat fun to start all over again from scratch wioth no cp or crafting or anything

I hate grinding so I'm actualloy questing slowly, reading all of their dialogues and whatnot. I still have my knowledge about the game so I'm pretty op for a lowbie hehe. Found some really nice people to craft me stuff and moving on.

One thing that really surprised me is how crazy easy it is to level even without grinding at all, let alone now with xp boosts. I'm already level 42 and I've literally only done ONE zone(Auridon), well also the starting island, some main quest/guilds' quests and a few random dungeons. No grinding whatsoever.

The PC version is AWESOME.

The sounds! The textures! The engine even looks like it renders differently, and even the UI looks a ton better for the most part! I can't believe this, I'm almost upset. If I could get my Xbox controller to work with the game, then it'd be absolutely perfect! 70 - 100 frames in the wilderness, 50 - 80 frames in Bleakrock, the whole thing just looks and sounds SO much better, it's maddening. Yet I'm still so invested into the Console version, even with Morrowind preordered there so I'm never going to leave it and I'm not the kind of person to juggle two separate game accounts. I'm SO JEALOUS of you guys.

Why. Why did I have to buy ESO on console two years ago.

@ArchMikem : You can use your xbox controller. You can use a wilreless or wired controller, then enable it in game settings. I would recommend the addon "Advanced Disable Controller UI" so you can use the PC interface but the controls for combat.

Hey OP can I make an AWESOME suggestion?

Since you're use to the console interface you can stick with it, np!

what I would like to suggest is get your pc connected to your TV via HDMI ( make sure the distance isn't more than 2m ) since you will have a hard time reading chat otherwise and play PC on a TV.

I have been doing it since 2012 and I have to say ( after my home invasion about 3 weeks ago when they stole my tv ) I am now playing on a pc monitor (24") and it's just NOT the same.

PC graphics on a TV is the future mate.

Plug in the controller before launching the game
Then u can play with a controller in gamepad mode.

It's the console UI basically

You'll need an Xbox adapter for Windows (or you can just buy an official X-box controller designed for Windows). You then just plug it into a USB port. It's very simple.

If wireless then google "Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows" Its about $17 from Amazon. If it is wired then just plug it into the USB slot and Windows ill load the driver automatically.

Purchase an Xbox one Bluetooth controller (the newest ones) or purchase the Xbox one wireless dongle for $29-$39)

Do not buy the Xbox 360 version...trust me. If using win10, just get the new hardware

So...after deciding to dig around in my Xbox video output settings, i discovered that i may have been playing ESO at 720p this entire time.

1080p AND change to 32bit if your tv can.
That'll make a HUGE difference but not as much as pc

I started out on PC, moved to Xbox, and then back to PC after a few weeks. The best part about PC is the FPS. On Xbox, ESO runs at like 23 FPS at it's highest when you're just moving around Wayrest. On my new PC I'm closer to 100 in that area.

I never knew there was such a thing... the major reason I wouldn't use the Gamepad UI was because of the awful menu interface, as the PC interface is so much faster with kb/mouse. So I currently use Xpadder for keymapping of my PS4 controller and have a kb/mouse handy for menu interface. I'll have to check into this ADCU addon.

Aahh, if I recall correctly you weren't too convinced of the graphical improvements to be had on PC in that PS4 Pro thread. Glad you tried it so you can see for yourself.

And you haven't even tried any addons yet? Oh my...

Well that will definitely be noticeable if true, but PC's shading, shadows and textures are still sharper and better overall than the console versions. There are several side by side comparisons out there.

Also ESO on console is locked at 30 fps to maintain the 1080p. On PC, the sky is the limit for your FPS.
