So they give the elite players/streamers an even bigger headstart on the rest of the ESO community...sounds fair.

Wouldn't a better strategy be to give those who already purchased the expansion access to the closed beta cause they've already bought it than to hand pick a select few players?

While it might mean less eyes on the ground so to speak and perhaps less testing done I think it might prevent those un-disclosed exploits people discover but fail to mention for their own and their buddies gain which I'm sure some hunt for rather than testing the game for QC purposes.

Think I've logged into PTS for about 10 minutes over the last couple of years, so I guess that's me out lol

I actually appreciate that not everything will be spoiled before Morrowind's released.
But I really want to know all new sets and styles beforehand. I hope that will be part of the patch notes.

I do want the new trial to not be a broken, buggy mess like maw was at release.

BUT isn't it also in zos' best interest to have the trial take as long as possible to complete? As it will be likely a yr+ before we see another one, and a month+ of testing is gonna give people a massive headstart.

Here is my issue with a closed beta, from the point of a PVE trial player. VMOL was a complete and total disaster at launch. That is the nicest way I can put it. If you are on xbox, it's still a complete and total disaster. We need serious testing of the new trial before it hits live. The only way you will accomplish that is to let raid groups in their entirety have access to it.

I wish it wasnt the case, but there is two much salt on most servers among the top tier groups. I dont see 2-3 people (who get picked for the beta) from 5 different guilds on the same server magically getting together to test this trial like it needs testing. If they want to keep the quest and story line closed form a spoiler standpoint, fine. I am not too worried about some quest bug going live. What I am worried about is this trial being released anywhere near the state of VMOL.

It might be self serving, but I would give anyone with a VMOL HM completion access to the new trial at a minimum. That would ensure that you have 4-5 groups on each server putting the trial through its paces. I would also do the same thing with battlegrounds to ensure you have high end PVPers (of which I am not one) testing those as well. No need to give everyone access to everything. Sypher and Fengrush arent going to give the new trial the testing it needs, and the same can be said about guilds like Hodor in regards to battlegrounds.

I'd guess that closer to launch they will do a proper open beta.

No need to ask for confirmation when the post is pretty clear: "With that said, participation in previous PTS cycles is a major factor when choosing invitees for this and future ZOS beta events. If you're chosen to help us test, you will receive an email and be invited to a private forum area where you can discuss your experiences with other players and provide feedback".

Hmmm... that seems like a hard way to go to pick people for the closed beta. A lot of people don't enjoy the work of doing closed betas.

Also seems like a BIG pool of people to go with anyone that plays ESO, just sayin'

You dont. They will send out invitations to people, with preference going to those that have participated in the PTS and betas before.

They are doing that to make sure they get people they know have provided objective feedback and aren't just participating to play before everyone else.

This is a good route to go, there will much less QQ on the forums about certain abilities being OP or trash while getting positive feedback to improve them. Also hopefully Morrowind will release with much less bugs than with DLC's in the past.

    Is there an application process?

    Or

    Is this select only.

It's interesting because I play and post on a PS4 account.

I purchased and test on a PC account on a Alienware alpha that is all I use it for and I do not post on the forums under that account.

So my test account would not show up on the forums and my forum account would not show up on test.

Yet another reason console accounts should be somehow granted PC test access I know they have a database at ZOS.

Being a participant in a previous PTS or beta does not make anyone elitist.

As stated in the article, it's invite only based in past PTS and beta participation. They will send invites out via email.

I was also a beta participant but that was when the game just began. Now, the chance for those people is far more greater than those who casually play this game like me.

Given that there's an NDA, streamers are probably not the players they're looking for.

I used PTS for a few of the iterations, but I mainly looked for obvious flaws. There were a lot of people who went really deep into testing, and I won't be upset if only they get picked. They put in a lot of time and effort.

Agreed, some players have logged way more PTS time than me on their PTS odometer.

That said, I would be ecstatic to get picked and give feedback ...

Been there, done that. I expect, if you're someone who previously tested content on the PTS and submitted detailed feedback, and possibly if you do so on live as well, you are more likely to get an invite.
