Congrats OP! Getting in shape is addictive.
I, personally, hate to exercise but I practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Some of the best overall exercise you can get.

If anyone hates working out, try BJJ.

We started a biggest loser campaign at my job on January 13th, and today was the first weigh in. I'm happy to report that I'm down 44 lbs and am at my lowest weight in 10 years.

While eating better had a lot to do with it, I also cut 1 hour a day out of my ESO play time. Instead of logging in from 7 to 10, I cut it down to 8 to 10 using the extra hour to walk about 10,000 steps a night.

As many of us know, playing MMOs is not exactly the healthiest activity. I recommend to virtually all of you to get a bit more exercise every day. You'll feel better, you'll look better and to be honest, you'll probably play better in the long run.

Good luck to all of you. Here's to being down 100 come December.

I'm looking at some point getting one of those Varidesks, or something like them. Just stand while playing.

Awesome, keep up the great work buddy!

Having graduated college myself and starting a full time job, I also dedicate a few hours a night at the gym. It doesn't allow any time to play during the week, but I try to get playtime on the weekends.

Just remember that in the end this is just game. Your overall health and well being are far more important. Put in the hard work and it will pay dividends!

Two years ago I ran my first marathon with some friends, and then I met ESO. :( I don't run anymore but my miniature schnauzer makes me walk a mile every day.

I started running a mile every time I lagged out, but the bones in my legs gave out.

I was maintaining a 5 pound a week pace for the first 7 weeks, but I had 2 business trips screw that up for me. When I'm at home, I've had no issue dropping just under a pound per day. I have a weird metabolism that lets me lose and gain weight rapidly. If I screwed around today, I could easily put on 5 pounds on accident.

The entire planet uses metric. Americans will have to catch up one day.

Good job on your weight loss! Making time for exercise can be tough, but it's worth it!

That makes a lot more sense. I was thinking if I lost that much I'd be dead, but I was thinking 44kg, not 44lbs! (Losing 20kg would still be a bit much...then I might look like my sister and no one wants that.)

Either way congrats OP on your achievement so far. Although from what you said about your metabolism the tricky part could be keeping the weight off.

If only i could... I used to be an ex-heavy weight lifter. I had muscles and figure to die for, that was back in the day before my genetical conditions broke through. In fact, it's the gym that showed me that there was something wrong.
And here I am, 12 years later, housebound with numerous oxygen tanks behind me while sitting, medication so strong it would poison an elephant, with stretch-marks still on my body where my muscles used to be. It has done nothing for my self esteem.

Luckily i am not overweight, just have a bit of a belly, but that is down more due to my health condition and strong medication.
But i can't really eat much, the meds reduce my appetite greatly.

Wish i was fit enough to exercise again, wish i could even walk 50 meters without pain, i would give anything, even my monstrous gaming PC with ESO and my account with it in exchange. Sadly, gaming is the only thing that keeps me distracted enough to get through my day.

Heh, my wife is disabled too and plays ESO with me, so we kindda prop each other up.

I'm the same way. I lose quickly and gain quickly. Travel kills me and one thing that slows me down is generally I need to take a day/evening off every few days where I can eat what I want and drink beer. If I ignore it too long I can go on a binge and have to fight my way back.

Walking can be very relaxing though.

I walk about 40 minutes to and from work every day and I really value that time, it gives me a chance to wake up properly in the morning and think about what I've got to do that day, and to relax after work. Sometimes that's simply walking home, sometimes it's listening to angry music whilst mentally ranting to myself about whatever idiot thing was driving me up the wall that day, sometimes it's taking a detour to get away from everyone and get some peace and quiet for a bit.

Some people seem to think I'm crazy for doing it, but I've noticed that's mainly people who drive everywhere...and then pay to go to the gym so they can "get their steps in" on a treadmill.

100% this. Zoning out for an hour with just my thoughts and some music has actually been a pleasant experience. I would have eaten my hat if you told me 3 months ago that I would have ever thought that.
