All temper rates were clearly buffed with housing drop.

Hold your mats for a couple more months and see how things go.

    Cheers!

6.5 seems like a distant dream now. Currently trying to sell them for 5.8 in our guild store, and having a hard time doing it.

OP this is a GOOD THING

It means the game is VERY healthy...

    More players = flooded market

Most experienced players already golded out their gear so there is less demand and more supply.

I support this in fact I would go as far as say we need to have the rare Sharpened items prices inflate and the improvement mats deflate to a level of almost free:

    TA - 5k
    DW - 3k
    R - 1k
    K - 1k

Then more players will be GOOD because better quality gear = more dmg or survivability and that can only be good for us all

Bring in more housing-type gold sinks or bring increased bank space slots for exorbitant amounts.

Except its not because more players but because more bits.

@Dulwen I get that this is a good thing for the players and moved my sales over to motifs . They are the second best seller for me and still doing very well . I'm also selling furniture , food and potions so I am still doing well in the market . The housing gold sink is gigantic and the purchasing power of gold is way up so I may start grinding gold to offset some of the dependence on trading and buy up things I need in the future .

I am having so much trouble selling tempering alloy at all unless marked below the major market prices . I do not understand if I am selling in a good location with the price even at 7k gold each , why these things will NOT sell forever . I run around and see there are tons of these available at the same price I am listing . Enough to make gold weapons for years !

Are the customers just not buying tempering alloy at all right now ? Why are alot of the vendors so over stocked with them ? What IS the value of gold black smithing mats really ? I see some people with the same problem selling then for 5.5 and 6k now . Has these gold mats really tanked this much ?

This is typical shortly before a major expansion. We don't know if the gear level will be raised in Morrowind, if it is people will be even more pissed if they just 100ks upgrading all their gear sets to gold only to be farming new items/sets now.

I could also see us getting an appearance slot type of system in Morrowind. If we do then Motiffs are going to skyrocket shortly after launch to people wanting to really customize their look. So again people aren't wanting to blow all their money on upgrading gear right now. I mean they've gotten by the last probabyl 5-6 months in what they have what's another 2 months to have the gold to buy whatever you want.

Alloys are simply settling down in price. I remember about a year and a half ago, alloys were about 5K each. Prices fluctuate.
    • Much more ore harvesting for regulus.
    • More people farming writs to get Master Writs. Master Writs that require alloys are quite rare, and all those regular writs are dropping alloys and surveys for ore that can be refined to yield alloys.
    • The gear hasn't changed, so there is no additional demand to balance out the increase in supply.
    • Bots are a red herring. Bots farm hide scraps, not alloys--the ease of farming wax is why wax costs less than alloys despite the higher demand for wax.
    • Housing in general is a gold sink and is a bit deflationary.

Still ~55k per item x 7 - for a set of heavy and couple of weapons.

    385k not expensive enough?

While I too enjoy a bargain and am happy for players being able to max sets out , Traders are always happier when profits are large lol . My post is not about complaining for players getting a good deal but more looking for insight into what's happening in the market to make future decisions . I hope you understand I see the good side of this as well as I am not a shrewd businessman but more a profiteering salesman looking for direction .

I'm selling lots of gold tempers generally 5-10% below the lowest sale price now, I'm not even bothering trying to post it somewhere on the mid-low range of price anymore since the temper market is tanking so quickly. People have less and less use for gold these days as there's no new sets to improve and furniture mat farmers are flooding the market with them.

I imagine there's going to be a blip of a price lift when Morrowind comes out, but not enough to raise it to these levels again. I could be wrong, maybe the new overland Morrowind equipment sets will be the best thing since sliced bread and everyone will want them, but I kinda doubt that. There's no new equipment available now and no equipment level rise in the next many months, I'm treating every gold material I get like a hot potato and chucking it at the market immediately.

As for making future market decisions, take a look at mastic and other purple craft pieces. When the cost of heartwood dips further and more people have purple blueprints to make fancy furniture, I bet the mastic price might go up, especially with Morrowind's release, and I'm not just saying that because I have 3 tons of mastic in the bag.... <.< Housing made the market very weird, other things to watch right now are flour, rakiepa, bervez juice, some weapon/armor trait pieces.

The price is tanking because of the Hew's bane event just like it did after the Wrothgar event. All the double nodes produces double the amount of alloys and now the price drops.

Not just tempering alloy not selling. Almost everything at the moment. Sales appear to have gone from one extreme to the other. Mind you, did sell 75k worth of alloy, through a C.O.D. last week.

Wow, surprised you trusted a Cod, usually all of them are scams now. I'm trying to sell my stack of 150 Alloys at 6.8 each, but not budging at all and on a vendor with hardly any alloy on it.

How can you get scamed with a cod? Cant you see what it is before you confirm the deal? First time i heard that, if anything i think is the safest way to trade for a small fee.

It really is scamming cause the other person has the right to not accept the CoD so therefore your out of the CoD fee if it was big and also 3 days of non getting it back

If new sets are coming to Morrowind, then alloy prices will increase again.

Me personally, the best thing I've done since playing this game is to completely ignore the so-called "economy" and so-called "market". The whole guild system for selling is terrible (but that's another topic).

People will sit on the email and it won't get returned to you for up to 30 days - that's the "scam".

It's actually 3 days now, I thought it was 30 but I guess people complained to much since launch I could see why now, cause about 90% of CoD's turn out to be scams.

Prices have gone down because homestead has done exactly what it's meant to a syphoned huge amounts of gold out of the system, as a result the prices drop and the remaining gold effectively becomes more valuable, basic economics really :)

Housing has definitely caused a huge amount of deflation, it would be nice if we could get figures on how much gold is in game circulating on each platform. Some high level economic data would be cool, also BoE all items rather than BoP and we'd have a crazy awesome economy on our hands, this is a separate point though.

    Who sells Gold Tempers? j/k

I have never sold a Gold Temper myself. I have over 300 Alloys and Dreugh Waxes, and 150 or so Rosins. And they were all "free" in the sense that they were farmed. To pay for those would just have me wearing Purple Armor.

C.O.D is if anything a possible "scam" if that's what you want to call it for the seller. It has no repercussions for the buyer at all. Very safe to buy C.O.D. but risky to sell it.

It may also be the shift toward light armor for mDKs. For a while there, most mDKs were wearing heavy armor- now you've got them flooding back to BSW and Desert Rose (or any other two light armor sets). You may want to invest in selling some Dreugh Wax (for light armor sets) or Rosin (for all those BSW/Silks of the Sun staves).
