a little bit of both for the pug undaunted dailies...definitely try hard to do the tank job (taunt, aggro, buff, debuff).. but, challenging at times coordinating with strangers and everyone kinda doing their own thing...

Chudan and Hist Bark are awesome. Those are two major tank buffs that are always active and don't take up your bar slots.

To everyone saying that you have to run Ebon, you have to use warhorn and you have to provide group support please L2P.. Those are good but you dont need to have it to clear content..

Content in ESO is so easy unless you are pushing for scores only DPS matters.. Even them only DPS matters..

Always remember your tanking priorities (they are in order):

1. Don't Die
2. Hold Aggro
3. Position Boss
4. Handle Mechanics
5. Provide group benefit

If you're wearing all group support sets (e.g. powerful assault/alkosh) you're going to be squishier than a plague doctor/hist bark set. This means that if you don't dodge velidreth's heavy attack you'll die, and the group will likely wipe. What "selfish" sets do is give you (and your healer) 1 or 2 mistakes. Again, (1) is much more important than (5), and if you're dead you've also messed up 2-4... With a 'selfish' build you can eat that heavy attack, bar swap at the wrong time or run out of magic and be fine. If you find yourself always running with full resources and doing the mechanics in your sleep you should definitely move to a more supportive set.

Notice I also mentioned healer. The more support sets you run, then more you'll be relying on a good healer. An indirect benefit of a selfish set is it will allow your healer to make a mistake too... if they forget to spam healing springs during the warrior's channeled attack you can still live. If they run out of magic and can't BoL, you'll be okay.

A dead tank often wipes the group, while support sets just help the DPS kill things faster. I'd much rather run with a tank that doesn't die and we take 3 minutes to kill the boss, than having a tank wipe multiple times, but finally burn the boss in 2:45.

Once again we find ourselves pointlessly debating between competing and completing. This "selfish" tank build (which is a stupid label, to be frank) with minimal support aren't taking top spots on leaderboards. It's by and far common knowledge at this point that min/maxing is unnecessary merely to complete content. There are plenty of groups who have beaten all of the vet trials and done hardmodes without catering to the most elitist setups. And guess what? That's totally okay.

Do what you wanna do. The more a tank strives to be efficient and boost their group, the better the group performs, the faster clears become, the fewer deaths occur, and the higher the scores. You can't argue with empirical results, but you can play how you want to play. All tanks who truly want to be competitive ultimately make these sacrifices for the benefit of their group, because the most experienced tanks know how to strip their build down to the most lightweight and efficient build as possible specifically for the purpose of filling in the gaps with tons of group support. That's the meta. There will always be a meta. Either you want to be that good, or you want to just play your way. If you wanna do something else, then just do it. There's nothing stopping you and your group from beating a trial the way you want to beat it, and the rest is irrelevant. Quit arguing with people who do it more efficiently and effectively, because they don't care and neither should you. Just do you.

And those of you acting superior and talking down to people for playing perfectly acceptable, albeit different, builds are creating pointless drama with people that don't care about you or your progression. Do you know why? Because this is a video game, and in the grand scheme of things, your scores are totally irrelevant. Everyone gets something different out of ESO, and your group's scores are for your group to enjoy, and for others who are like-minded to compete against. That's a perfectly acceptable reason to play the game, and it's perfectly acceptable to enjoy and be a part of that. That's what you want to get out of ESO and you have every right to get what you want out of a video game for which you are paying. Everyone else is just trying to play and have fun, so you do you, and let everyone else play with their own builds. The fact that your build is more efficient or effective, that your group is better at it, doesn't matter to anyone but you and the people you're up against, which is a very, very small percentage of the population.

Why not? Hell we cleared vMoL with a speed run with the main tank drunk with 15 shots of fireball.. The objective of playing a game is to have fun I believe..

EDIT: Sorry just got confirmed it was 17 shots..

Actually we did the two chains and fang focused achievements while I was hammered. I don't remember it, but at least I recorded the run.

I find generally in life that when poll options are given it's quite handy to preface those options with a question or proposition.

This is ridiculous, another try to name&shame good people as selfish just because they play fair but not the way as OP's way. Like "ebon armory ofcourse, war horn" was the only solution for tanking. Grow up.

I'm thinking about a fish tank build but haven't found the proper sets for that yet...

Also, warhorn is a PvP skill. Those of us who are PvE only don't have it!
