I dislike that idea a lot, sorry man. Merciless resolve / relentless focus is an awkward to use skill and I feel having to recast it is a dps loss. Sorc doesn't need to go down the same gimp road as mag blade did.
No way in no. Crystal Frags is one of the only good ways a MagSorc can deal damage consistently (more or less being a random chance), but I absolutely hate the Grim Focus mechanic.
I don't know if you're actually experiencing a bug but you do know that the Instant Cast proc is on a timer right? Once it procs and is ready to cast it only lasts a few seconds.

I know alot of people have this issue of hard casting frags when thought to be insta cast. Regardless i have a suggestion to fix this, so just like Grim focus/relentless focus aka Spectral Bow when you cast the ability after 4 light attacks the ability changes pictures on your bar to tell you that you can cast spectral bow. That being said Crystal Frags should be changed into doing the same thing as Grim Focus in terms of chaging pictures that is, not the 4 light attack feature. I only compare it to Grim Focus because that is one of the few abilities i know that changes pictures when its ready to cast. All im saying is that when you get the insta cast that it changes pictures on your bar to indicate the insta cast is ready instead of only relying on your hands to glow purple.
Alot of people misread thinking that i meant to change Frags into grim focus but I only meant to say that they should change the visual queue for insta cast on Frags from hands glowing to changing pictures on your bar.

I think his idea is the only aspect that would be like the NB skill would be how it procs. If it were 4 light/heavy attacks to proc it then we'd know when we can use it and it would lead to a higher usage of frags.
We don't use the proc the instant it's available as it is. We don't react that fast. So the 35% proc chance ends up having less than a 20% usage.
However it would probably be OP for Sorcs.

No, the OP actually just wants the icon on the skill bar to change once it's proc'd. No change to the skill itself, just another way to know it has proc'd, a notification of sorts.

It already lights up and is all bright and shiny while it's active. I don't see how changing the picture would be any better.

2 words: Buff Timers
So you know when your ability is ready to insta cast.
Crystal Frags always gives me strange graphic glitches hands glow purple even tho I end up hard casting etc...
Come on Zos bring thus to console already should have been in the game from release.

Agreed. Not sure if console is different, but on PC the icon already lights up and makes a noise.
Iirc this was before I put on buff tracker add-ons.

Anywho, I'd be for it. Same way the DK's whip skill icon changes when power lash is procced.
Sometimes, in fights with lots of shiny effects, it can be easy to miss the glowing hands.
