Well, if you care about high dps, you should use potions, if you don't care, just take the skill that looks nicer ;)

Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

On the templar i use this skill just to boost my max mag, or i could put ritual of retribution, but then rotation will probably be a bit over the top. Or maybe not. Should try, infact i just thought about this.

Depends. I personally don't like a huge difference in my health on each bar. So if it makes a big difference on health between bars then I go degeneration over structured. However, some builds like my nb I might run 2 or 3 shadow abilities on the front bar and having structured on my back bar helps to even out the health difference from having so many shadow on front bar.

Depends if you want a little more resource regen or a little bit more health on one of your bars.

Edit: They're both viable, neither one is a game changer by any means.

    Structured Entropy for me.

As a 'brittle' little damage-dealer and healer the extra health is nice (8%). Major Sorcery generally is great too (and the mages guild passives). This allows for the most part dropped potions to be used rather than my own made Tri-pots. Saving significant gold. I keep my tri-pots for when I actually need them (e.g. the group is struggling where every little improvement helps), but 9 times out of 10 they're not needed.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Then you should edit your OP to clarify that, if you want people to take pvp into specific consideration when voting/replying.

EDIT: To be on topic, I take structured Entropy because believe it or not, I actually haven't gotten the undaunted passives yet, so I use it to make up for the lack of bonuses to health they would otherwise provide

yeah this is why i go rattle cage for templars and potions for DK. i hate single buff skills- totally impractical in pvp when ur going from target to target, maybe in a duel- but i always go a skill that casts on myself - once - for 20 seconds - over those like entropy.

But that's what all of the high tier'ed PvP guys are using. Now if you want to go against the grain that's fine. However you'll be gimping yourself even more, in a already gimped match up.

With pots, rattlecage, and all of the DKs now running around. There is really no legitimate spot for either skill on my bars. However Degeneration is better in Cyrodiil imo. I haven't used structured entropy since 2014 I think.

I've been experimenting with Degeneration, and I have some questions.

The spell is a single-target spell. In the spell description, it says, "Also grants you Major Sorcery, increasing your Spell Damage by 20%".

--> Is that a flat 20% damage bonus against all targets for the duration of the spell? (a buff for the spellcaster)
--> Or is it a 20% damage bonus only against the affected target? (a debuff on the target)

It sounds like it's the first one, but I'm missing something, because the casting cost for Degeneration is a third of that for Power Surge, and it does damage in addition to the healing... and yet it's getting no love here.

--> Also, is it cumulative with Power Surge, for a total 40% bonus to damage?

It seems like the people on this thread who like the spell use it for solo play, and I see why the healing is less essential if you're in a group. But even in a group I'd rather have Degeneration on my back bar rather than Power Surge. It lasts half as long, but at a third the cost it still makes sense to use it - same bonus, cheaper, does damage, gives heals... what's not to love?

Neither, it gives you a 20% bonus to your spell damage stat. On most builds that's about an 8% increase in damage.

More specifically it gives you the named buff 'Major Sorcery' which will not stack with other sources of Major Sorcery. So it won't stack with Power Surge.

Dont let people fool you in saying things like "its useless since there is spell power pots."

Well let me ask you this do spell power pots give stamina back?

What if the player is using it in pvp and would like to use tri pots so he can sustain his stamina for break free ?

People just hate on abilities that have been around for a while because they want something new. Structure entropy is great but you need to slot it on both bars for good usage. Degeneration is better for pvp dps toons especially if you use a staff and weave around.

Both good especially since some classes dont have easy access to brutality and sorcery ( nightblade weak sap essence and templars dont got nothing. )
