You know, I thought that having an alt would give me additional storage slots. After all, people call them "mules". But this guy has his own needs: light armor, crafting mats, etc., and has only made matters worse.

This economy is like any other. You have a lot of people that are broke, you have a growing number of millionaires, and a few people with so much gold it's insane. Bill gates is a millionaire 85,000 times over, just as an example. I dont know of any actual billionairres in eso, but it honestly wouldnt surpise me if there were people getting close. There are certainly people in the 9 figure range.
Rumor is there were grand overloads that made close to 100 million just on selling scrolls on patch day. I saw one with almost 40 million in sales the first week of patch, and that's just from one trader. I know he was selling them in zone and guildchat as well, so god only knows what someone like that is worth.

Yeah they really gave another name for "Free Money" during that bug, I still consider that whoever made gold in game off that considered to be exploiting since it was taking advantage of a bug.

It's either going to be 2^32 (4 billion), 2^31 (2 billion), or essentially infinite (2^64 or 2^63).
I hope that the first person to hit 2^32-1 gold doesn't earn one more gold and see his bank account roll over to 0.
If you do writs and get a master writ for many vouchers, I'd recommend selling it. I got one for 101 vouchers and managed to sell it for 750k, and I probably could've gotten even more.
Wow. You must play on PC. When Homestead dropped on XBOX, the prices were immediately "only" about 4K per voucher. I think that the fact that the market on PC had already softened after a few weeks and that XBOX players knew it would settle down closer to 2K per voucher meant that even right out of the gate, people were unwilling to pay a lot more than that. It's possible today to buy them for 2-2.5K if you find a very motivated seller, but they still sell for close to 4K a lot of the time.

Full disclaimer, I bought a scroll for a million gold. Here is the problem. It was like that on the PTS, and there were a handful of other Cyrodiil achievements that could be sold as well. There was no way to know it was an exploit for the first few hours it went live. By that evening, they had said they were going to patch it. Considering these things were selling like hot takes the second the patch dropped, can you really blame a grand overlord for taking advantage of it? Now once they said they were going to fix it, it is arguble that any scrolls purchased after that were in fact an exploit, but how do you know which was which. Furthermore, if you were a GO that bought 100 of these with the intent to sell, and then 5 hours later they say they are removing it, why should you be left holding the bag?
I do agree that it was a bit obscene as it was a huge transfer of wealth to a few people, but I am not sure I agree that it was an exploit.
What? When homestead first dropped I was selling for 10k per voucher on the 30 to 50 voucher writs. On xbox na. They are still about 2 to 4k per.

But, lets talk about gold. First, you can play this game to play the economy, a perfectly valid thing to do. Have fun with that, you will amass lots of gold through time and effort. But, what are you going to do with it? I am willing to bet you have not maxed out your bank bag spaces or your character bag spaces or your horse riding skills? And probably not on multiple characters. That alone is the biggest gold sink in the game, horses and bags. I did not break 100K for the entire first year because I was upgrading bags and horses on multiple characters. It is only in the last 18 to 24 months or so that I went from 1M to 7M.
andreasranasen wrote: »Yes, you wonder where it all went when you have 8 Alts, or more now, and have maxed out the bags and horse training on all of them.
^THIS! I would have been a millionaire many times over if it hadn't been spent on upgrading alts... including buying gear, upgrading gear, etc. I still have nightmares about the cost of Agility/Willpower jewelry pieces when they first came out!

Ive got a max bank and 12 characters with maxed bags and horses. The most I ever spent on anything was 250K for a jewelry from the golden vendor because I didnt have enough AP at the time. The most I ever had before housing was 2 million. Ive been selling everything I can farm and hoarding gold for one of the manors and Im just over 3 million now.

Its depending on the data type used for storing the gold number.dramsb14_ESO wrote: »s7732425ub17_ESO wrote: »dramsb14_ESO wrote: »Holy crap! What is the gold cap in this game per toon, and per bank?

Sounds like the cap is definitely somewhere in the billions for sure.
