you really do make my head hurt. why is stupidity like this around. no there is no way to block loot spy and you may ask why that is because the current API and for a majority of the game allows it and that cannot be changed/blocked by an addon. if you have such a big problem with it dont do group content simple fix

do you come from a planet where people check what you have in your bag?

anyway... i don't have any problem saying "No", i've been saying that to everyone who knows my loot :) ...i was just trying to find out if anyone knew an addon or some way to prevent the loot broadcast.

if players can use an addon to see the other players loot, why wouldn't another player have the right to search for a way to prevent that? what's so wrong about it?

Okay let's walk through this. It's a really complex strategy, but once you master it you can apply it to any situation wherein one person requests of you something you wish not to do.

    "No."

It's your loot, if someone is looking for something you have and you WANT it for any reason, say NO.
If someone is looking for something you have and you DON'T WANT it for any reason, consider saying YES. Offer it for free, for gold, for whatever you want. It's yours, after all.

If someone continues to bother you? No. Block, leave group, kick them from group, ignore them on that topic or totally. It's not complex, sorry I lied.

Edit: Alternatively, they will never see what you loot if you don't loot it. Leave it on the ground.

that would be a good strategy when playing with loot spies :P ...but i like to have my auto-loot active and even if i don't want the loot i can always give it to someone who needs it and didn't spy my loot :D

but my question is answer already. looks like the only way to prevent the GroupLootNotifier is to continue using the Mute List.

    thanks to all ;)

People on console acting like its amazing they dont have this....

I have given away a lot of loot i didnt need because of it, players farming for days and "poof" it ends up with me.
Got a lot of weapons, rings, armor i was looking for while the player looting it wasn't even aware/didn't need it.

It makes farming while pugging possible and MUCH more efficient, quicker and fun.

Only a handfull of special snowflakes are bothered by it, while the majority of players enjoy it.

i agree with you in every way, and i prefer to deal with any addon let down than not to.

but it would be nice anyway if the "special snowflakes", like me, could have an addon to decide when to or not to broadcast the loot. what's so wrong about it? i'm able to set that i'm offline when i'm online, and that's useful many times. why can't or shouldn't i be able to set up my loot broadcast? i still don't understand why you all feel so bad about it.

Say "sorry I need it for my alt."

    Problem solved.

If I need it I say this. Easy.

If I don't need it I'm happy to give away, as long as the player is polite.
If they are rude or annoying, ignore them or 'accidentally' bind it to your character.

Personally I've never had this problem. If I say I need the item people just say OK and move on.

Its tough to say no to beggars, especially those that feel that they carried the group, therefore deserve that mundus trait BSW that dropped.

It doesn't bother me personally but I can see how it could be annoying to others . I enjoy trading and interacting with other players and it leads to making of new friends sometimes . If someone is rude about loot then we do have the ignore button but no one so far has been rude in asking for me .

for some inexplicable and weird reason a lot of players are still using addons to see the group loot, and for those who play frequently on group events this is really annoying since we have to constantly deal with intrusive beggars. the only solution i found until now is an addon to mute the players, but i was looking for a better way, a way to prevent the group to see what am i looting. is there any way to do that?

I tell them to make me an offer. They can be nosey with some crap addon, but they'd better willing to pay-up if they want my ***.

As far as I'm concerned, if the devs wanted other players to see what drops I got, they would have included it in the default ui.

Dont worry im sure it is coming. They are very quick about adding quality of life improvements. Buff/debuff trackers, improved auction ui, improved guild tools...

Id imagine around year 15 you should probably get this fuctionality.

I don't feel bad about special snowflakes wanting to block this feature (instead of simply typing "I need it, sorry").
My reply was to everyone that loves to jump in ALL posts about addons to say "hurr durr, in consoles we dont have to deal with this" while in fact they are losing a whooooole world of cool features and quality of life (ingame) advancements because of addons.

I usually swap dungeon loot if someone is looking for a piece...but I usually offer it freely in group chat for that purpose. To my mind the polite way of farming in a group is to announce beforehand, 'I'm looking for pieces from set X' and if your groupmates are willing to part with said pieces, they will offer. If not--it was never yours in the first place, if you're going to be a pest about it you deserve to be put on ignore.

Using addons which this integrated, do not rly care what others loot. But its handy what they are looted, because you know if that dungeon give,s you good stuff. If anyone ask me for a type of armor i give it. If i need something asking it in chat, most ppl are great and give it.

I personally like those spy addons. They allow me to not bother with linking stuff in chat and when someone needs something I loot, they still see it and can ask me. Btw. people offered me up to 1.5m for items I looted (precise moondancer lightning) so it can be a nice way to make money if you're lucky with rng.

I just give a quick reply if I am not willing to trade, if I am I will try and sell/trade, if they are rude or persistent I will just ignore (manually not block) them.

I don't like that there is an add-on which bypasses a system ZOS chose (not showing group loot) but as they're unwilling to fix it this is the devil we must deal with.

Just tell them that you don't want to trade (you can claim that you need it for research or for an alt, they won't know if it is true). Or offer to sell the items (unless you need them. If that is the case just say so). Then you have a chance to make some extra gold.

If neither of those work just put that player on ignore.

I link every single item I'm not going to use in chat as well. But it's honestly a lot easier when my friends already know what I looted.

I don't get upset when they get all giddy that I looted that Uber-Amazebawls +1 Vorpal sword they've been looking for...I'm happy for them having the opportunity to have it.

Dungeoning is a group activity. The loot being shareable, even though its bind-on-pickup, makes it more of an equitable and fun group activity. This is not an intrusion...it's an intended mechanic.

Why even show other players what I have looted to begin with? It's really none of their business. If you just HAVE to know what I looted, ask like a big boy. It really isn't that hard.

Too many hypocritical edgelords jumping on this guy for a simple question. How you want the game to be isn't any more valid than what he wants.

Do you really want to link every item in chat if you don't have to?
This makes it easier...as long as you're not just being selfish.

I guess the question really comes down to this:
What's more important the 1 purple temper that you might get, the 51 gold from vendoring that item, or helping someone get the gear they need?

If you answered either of the first two, then you're just selfish.
