I must hail from a different planet, because where I come from people say "No" when they feel disinclined to entertain a request.

I have given away a lot of loot i didnt need because of it, players farming for days and "poof" it ends up with me.
Got a lot of weapons, rings, armor i was looking for while the player looting it wasn't even aware/didn't need it.
It makes farming while pugging possible and MUCH more efficient, quicker and fun.
Only a handfull of special snowflakes are bothered by it, while the majority of players enjoy it.
Say "sorry I need it for my alt."
Problem solved.
for some inexplicable and weird reason a lot of players are still using addons to see the group loot, and for those who play frequently on group events this is really annoying since we have to constantly deal with intrusive beggars. the only solution i found until now is an addon to mute the players, but i was looking for a better way, a way to prevent the group to see what am i looting. is there any way to do that?

i agree with you in every way, and i prefer to deal with any addon let down than not to.
but it would be nice anyway if the "special snowflakes", like me, could have an addon to decide when to or not to broadcast the loot. what's so wrong about it? i'm able to set that i'm offline when i'm online, and that's useful many times. why can't or shouldn't i be able to set up my loot broadcast? i still don't understand why you all feel so bad about it.

The whole point of that info being exposed to the group is to help folks get the gear they're trying to farm.
If you need it, keep it, if not don't be selfish and those out that are helping you.
You guys must be all salemen's wet dream. If you're having a hard time saying no in a chat in a game I can't even imagine your struggle in a shopping mall.

To my mind the polite way of farming in a group is to announce beforehand, 'I'm looking for pieces from set X' and if your groupmates are willing to part with said pieces, they will offer. If not--it was never yours in the first place, if you're going to be a pest about it you deserve to be put on ignore.

I see it different, I post what I dont need to share in chat, I dont need intrusion into my loot, and have to either ignore the person, or say no, while feeling guilty having something I finally wanted.

The problems stem when you do say no, and people continue to pester or start to throw abuse because you won't give them when they feel entitled to own.

Too many hypocritical edgelords jumping on this guy for a simple question. How you want the game to be isn't any more valid than what he wants.
