Crown Exclusives, Who will actually buy?

Haven't bought a crown exclusive in ages. Theyre overpriced and I can live without them. The overpriced Elk changed my attitude towards the crown store completely. It was the first time I wanted something but couldn't justify paying out that much money for it. It's looked awesome but I didn't fall for it ZOS hah.

I thought this was a really insightful comment, becaude it sums up what has been said in many threads since elk gate, and shows that the bad taste of unpalatable pricing lasts much longer than the items are on sale. I believe the excessive pricing of housing will turn some people off the game (I certainly play less), but I know some people are happy with the update too.

The elk mount was a prime example of ZoS's new direction with limited time to buy a far less impressive mount for double the crown cost. The epitome of lazines and sleezy business decisions

It had been my intention to get Earthtear Cavern as a guild hall, if the price were affordable, but now I'm not sure my guild even wants a guild hall. Certainly neither of them do it for me as houses.

My main reasons for buying crowns was to get the DLC. I basically bought them one by one, full price, though I haven't bought Dark Brotherhood or the Hist thing yet. I did buy a camel when I got to the desert - one just NEEDS a camel there.

I would really like to get a banker, but he's overpriced. If they offer a special deal on the merchant and banker, I would consider it.

Yup, they intentionally did this to squeeze the players wallets. They are just shameful at this point. I have been an ESO plus member since console launch and bought the dlc too. But this is the first time I've actually wanted to cancel my sub to stop supporting them. I liked the benefits but I only subbed because I supported their game and it's direction. Not much longer at this rate.

My personal protest is I don't buy from the crown store until I see zos make efforts in getting rid of bots, cheaters, exploiters, until then my wallet stays shut, and there are a few things in the store I might like to have but don't need them to play the game.

This was another issue that affects my decision. But I heard GM's were coming around to take names and hopefully mass ban them all

I don't see the point in buying any of these when there are plenty of nice houses available for in game gold.

    15,000 and 20,000 crowns?

    That can't be serious, right?

I'm not joking. The manors were 11000 unfurnished -15000 furnished. And these exclusives are 3 times the size of those manors. If it's 15000 crowns I'll be surprised.

They will only be crown bought so of course they're gonna to nickel and dime people for it.

I like the elk mount being less flashy but recognize I am in the minority with that.

But yes, it's part of a trend where they are asking us to pay more for less value overall.

I'm happy with my gold sink houses and not interested in the crown only manors, but expect those who are will spend more money than most of them would like to. People call it ZO$ for a reason.

No matter how nice exclusive homes are there is just no way I could ever justify paying that much for something that has no functionality or purpose than looking pretty. With that amount of money I could instead buy two or more fully functional games that would give me hours and hours of game play.

ZOS shot itself in the foot with not releasing these manors together with the standard ones. Now most people know there is no reason to spend such a ridiculous amount of money on something which is totally useless while others, who somehow like decorating/furnishing, already purchased other manors and I doubt they will spend the next XXk crowns for another manor.

    These were my thoughts exactly.

I wouldn't mind the cost if they added more things to do with housing, or reduced the rng grindfest.

But alas if it were so we wouldn't be here right now.

I hate name dropping but I feel this is a critical issue that should at least be acknowledged as being looked into.

As others have stated, if there is something that I really want, and can get easier by purchasing with crowns rather than gold due to real life work and time-constraints... then I'll buy with crowns.

That being said, I do think 15k crowns for an unfurnished place is too expensive. I do not currently have a home and I do not plan on ever getting one until they add some proper storage to the place. All of the 2000+ items brought into the game is cool and all, but I'd like to see more diversity with what you can actually do within a home. Until then I'll be in Deshaan taking care of my crafting, and using real mobs to train my skill rotations.

Way too much money for something so useless to me. But I know GMs want to get ahold of these as a sort of guild hall and I think that's nice. But ZOS can do better for guilds.

I do have a large amount of crowns from when I subbed, and I might spend some of it on the island if it's under 20k. I wouldn't of course go out of my way to buy crowns just to get the ridiculously priced cs exclusives (yeah we don't know the price yet but it's pretty much guaranteed to be over 15k unfortunately), but since I already have the crowns which I'm not really going to spend on anything, why not...

I don't buy crowns, but I do sub intermittently when I expect to play regularly. I don't anticipate buying one of the crown exclusive homes, but if at some point I had accumulated enough crowns from subbing and actually wanted one of the homes, I wouldn't hesitate. In fact, I love crowns-for-subbing. It allows me to budget an affordable amount for whimsy purchases, which I can then buy without thinking "I just spent $150 for pixels." I suppose the sub is pixels, too, but it's easier to gauge "I think I'll get $15 enjoyment from playing ESO this month" than it is to gauge "I think this in-game item will give me $50 worth of pleasure."

I did not vote because I am waiting to see what the price is. I would like the cave, but if it's 15,000 crowns, I'd have to really think about it. I'd probably save crowns for the next 6 months and see if I still want it then.

I am currently grinding gold to buy the manor I like.

I would not buy either of the 2 Crown Exclusive Homes.

I might have considered buying the Island (with accumulated Crowns) had the style of the Homestesd been more to my liking.

A huff and a puff and those shaks could be blown down!

N.B. Even a tremmour from that Volcano could do the trick. o:)

I considered this as well, but it's more of the how do I justify all my sub months on something that offers nothing for the value of crowns I'm spending.

As someone who can afford it, and often will purchase limited offer items, I draw the line with the increasingly expensive items. I'm not a mount collector or non-combat pet person, nor do the crates excite me. As a traditionally inclined decorator in previous games, the most I've ever paid for a home that was 'prestigious' was $15 and you couldn't get them any other way.

Watching the prices nearly double and go downright insane in the pricing has left a sour taste in my mouth, leaving me more $$ in my bank account, honestly. So, no thank you. I will save my money as I wait for another game with housing to come out, with a reasonable microstore. Since there will be others, and microstores are the new fad, if I am going to spend my money, I want my money's worth.

I liked both, especially the island, but I don't really see the point? If I could set one up as an official guild hall I might consider it... But as things stand now there's not really a point?

I am having tons of fun with the smaller places. I love the 11k apartment in Skywatch, it has become my unexpected favorite, and it's plenty big for me.

Our guild has a hall, and the officer who volunteered to purchase it (and then bought a second manor for himself) is wishing he had only purchased the first one. And that's with the guild donating all the decorations.

It's fun and all to have some artistic expression in the game... But that's all it is. Arts and crafting. And I can only pick one for people to visit when I am not home, but there are two I want to decorate, so nobody will see the other I guess?

I want to buy the cavern, but until the current housing system is altered, it's just a solid NO for me and 90% of the community if not higher than that. Forum gamers are generally better funded, the average gamer that do not use the forums typically have lower budgets/play time for this
game. So if ZoS wants to build profit, they sure aren't going to with this current plan of business Or even if they do turn a profit it'll be far less than simply adding useful additions and have thousands of more players buying them at current prices.

I was going to vote until I saw the rant explaining the purpose of the poll. Now I feel like had I voted I'd be providing false data because whilst I would much prefer it if housing had more functionality that has absolutely nothing to do with my reason for not buying a notable home, crown store exclusive or otherwise. I simply don't like them as much as the smaller homes and they don't suit my characters.

Even on the PTS I struggled to fill the space and make it look nice (NOT because of the item limit, simply because I couldn't decide what to do with the space except put in yet another seating area/bed'room'/study etc. and that felt a bit boring).

I much prefer the smaller houses and I think I can do a lot more with a variety of those than I could with 1 big one.
