I thought this was a really insightful comment, becaude it sums up what has been said in many threads since elk gate, and shows that the bad taste of unpalatable pricing lasts much longer than the items are on sale. I believe the excessive pricing of housing will turn some people off the game (I certainly play less), but I know some people are happy with the update too.

My main reasons for buying crowns was to get the DLC. I basically bought them one by one, full price, though I haven't bought Dark Brotherhood or the Hist thing yet. I did buy a camel when I got to the desert - one just NEEDS a camel there.
I would really like to get a banker, but he's overpriced. If they offer a special deal on the merchant and banker, I would consider it.

That can't be serious, right?

The elk mount was a prime example of ZoS's new direction with limited time to buy a far less impressive mount for double the crown cost. The epitome if lazines and sleezy business decisions
ZOS shot itself in the foot with not releasing these manors together with the standard ones. Now most people know there is no reason to spend such a ridiculous amount of money on something which is totally useless while others, who somehow like decorating/furnishing, already purchased other manors and I doubt they will spend the next XXk crowns for another manor.
I don't buy crowns, but I do sub intermittently when I expect to play regularly. I don't anticipate buying one of the crown exclusive homes, but if at some point I had accumulated enough crowns from subbing and actually wanted one of the homes, I wouldn't hesitate. In fact, I love crowns-for-subbing. It allows me to budget an affordable amount for whimsy purchases, which I can then buy without thinking "I just spent $150 for pixels." I suppose the sub is pixels, too, but it's easier to gauge "I think I'll get $15 enjoyment from playing ESO this month" than it is to gauge "I think this in-game item will give me $50 worth of pleasure."
I would not buy either of the 2 Crown Exclusive Homes.
I might have considered buying the Island (with accumulated Crowns) had the style of the Homestesd been more to my liking.
A huff and a puff and those shaks could be blown down!
N.B. Even a tremmour from that Volcano could do the trick.

XD I thought the same thing about the island house, a strong gust would be enough to topple
it over. Let alone the volcano tremors lol

I honestly don't know, a lot depends on affordability and even then I don't know whether I like the cave or island better, can't decide.
