This bothers me, because Vulkhel Guard is where I wanted my crafter to live, but I don't really want him to be stuck in the smallest home in the entire game. I'd be happy to buy something but the only option is that inn room. I was planning to move him up to Skywatch until I found out you can't even pick up crafting writs there. (I know you have to drop them off in set places, mostly on the mainland, but if he could at least pick up and complete the crafting writs in his home city it'd be ok.)
Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I suspect I'm going to have to expand his back-story so he gets bored with his retirement on Auridon and moves somewhere a bit more exciting.
meanwhile (g I will say one thing. apartment in skywatch? is a hell of a deal for 11k you pay for it. ceilings are high enough to add a second floor with no issues whatsoever.
Woah, that's the first time I've heard anyone mention Barbed Hook, and in a positive way, even. I've definitely got to check out this insane ceiling....
I don't think the AD free room is all that bad. I lived with just that one home for a little while before I gathered more furnishing plans and took the plunge and decided to purchase a bigger one. I find the little room to be rather sweetI put a second level in mine for a bedroom, so that I was able to add more furniture beneath it.

First home is Hundings but first fully furnished in Rost Lion.
My Rosy Lion at Eso+ item cap - fully crafted it myself or got achievement stuff with gold or just looted/stole it

Hey guys,
I thought a lot about writing this or not...
but I am real sad about it so I'm gonna do it.
I made a char from each alliance to get all the free starter homes and furnished all of them, beside the AD one, which my only actually played char is from.
It is just not possible to fit a bed in, nicely, and not even close to a desk, bed, dresser, nightstand... all things that fit in perfectly fine in the other starting homes.
I would LOVE to use the Auridon home!! But in the small and weird shape its just not possible, I think that needs to be changed!
Let me know your thoughts.

If it's not worth the cost, don't buy it. "Unfair"? Unfair to whom? Does it disadvantage someone? I understand Op's argument and agree AD is the worst of all small hotel rooms. Using the word "unfair" is a bit absurd.

Buy what? He's talking about the free starter house each alliance gets, with AD being noticeably smaller.
You clearly did not read his argument but scrolled way to the bottom to spout your nonsense.

If it's free, then it's even less "unfair". Your starter is free, but the two other starters cost a measly 3-6k gold (can't remember). I do not have to read his whole argument to know he's whining about something effectively worth less than 10k gold and nobody even cares about.

Still wrong.
All 3 alliances have free starter homes.
Try again.

So, you're trying to tell me that on my main character, who is AD, I wasn't required to pay gold for the EP and DC starter hotel rooms when I went to buy them on the same character? Do you often accuse others of "not reading and spouting nonsense", yet doing the very same thing you accuse others of doing?
[snip]
So what if the house is free or not, if the other 2 starter houses, which are also free, are noticeably larger than the one in AD(which they are) then of course ppl are gonna complain. Choosing a different alliance than the other shouldn't automatically net you with a larger house. That's a design flaw imo.
I personally don't give a *** about housing but getting annoyed at all the unjustified hate OP is getting.
Thanks a lot!
I was really shocked by all this hate.

Go do the other faction quests and get their free inn rooms, or better yet - go buy yourself a nice house and decorate the crap out of it!
What kind of logic is that? Of course free things can be unfair...
No they can't.
If it's free it's something for nothing, more than you had before.
Is getting something for nothing unfair?
If you see it like that, then it was not free, I bought the game, I spent my time for the quest and for all that input it is not fair.

That looks a lot like my first apartment back when I was in college thirty years ago.
Nice.
P.S. Did you have to buy that stuff or did you make it? Like the boards and stones, etc.? Well, and the furniture?

I crafted all of it (which is why everything is pretty random in terms of style) apart from the plank and stones for the stairs and level, they were 100 gold each at a merchant
Oh, actually, the 'hiding place' and the light and baner were achievement items also, as were the sweetrolls, all from hews bane
And despite the overall negative tone of my post above, your design is absolutely a superb architectural answer to a horrid interior design layout....many Kudos!!!
