I wish we could also have a store in our home (that others could visit).

I mean, we would have access to the guild store for guilds you are in, but this is an interesting idea

This would be great help and I would actually purchase them. As is, they are of little worth to me, especially at the exorbitant price tag for them.
If they got fixed, it would also take much strain off town overpopulation and lag.

This is a good point. People say they don't want towns to become "ghost towns", but in reality plenty of people would still be going to them for several reasons. But if there could be some stress relief as far as instance lag due to overpopulation, this is just another positive outcome of this change.

I would buy the merchant if they upgraded her.

Or if they lowered the price. B)

But as it is, I won't be getting her. Not worth the price to me.

From what I have heard, this is the case.

While I would love to have different "skins" on the assistants, the hype for that is nothing compared to that of getting full featured assistants in the home!

Imo housing is just an expensive fad with no real useful features.

I may have read that having the work stations allows you to craft set pieces, is this correct? If so this is the only real useful feature for me, but at the price of about 10k crowns.

Nothing else really serves any useful functions. Its just an easy pay day for ZOS because people who waste money on this stuff (like myself) are more than happy to throw money at them lmao

Now' im not complaining, as such, but for the price we pay, gold and crowns, there should be a whole lot more available to us for the money we pay. And when the hell are they going to listen to their player base and give us storage in our houses.

I think people are concerned that we won't have a reason to go to town if they implement these changes to assistants while they are placed in your home. I think this is just plain not on case, at all.

    Pledges.

    Stablemasters.

Mages, Fighters, and Undaunted daily quests.

    Guild traders.

    Writs.

    Dueling.

    Looking for group.

There are plenty or reasons we would still be going to towns. I don't want to see Homestead turn into WoW's Garrison either. The difference here is that I think ESO has enough features that are only available in towns to keep them from becoming "ghost towns". Another point to be made is that in the future ZOS could implement more reasons on top of the already existing ones to promote traveling to towns for certain things.

But, to not offer Merchant repair, Banker guild bank/stores, Smuggler laundering, while in the home is seriously hurting the games housing feature in a very significant way.

Many people are not even going to get involved in a house because of this one simple issue. Assistants do not offer full services while in you home. This is bad for everyone.

At 5k crowns per pop for assistants, I guarantee ZOS sees a HUGE influx of sales for these services in homes. Literally almost all people who previously did not want to purchase them will change their minds and buy them on the spot the moment they offer full features - Even just for in the home ONLY.

Make the right decision ZOS! You are only hurting everyones housing experience, and especially your own wallet by not doing this!

If they offered guild bank access, merchand repairs and smuggler fence, that would be 3 less reasons to go to town. Dueling, can be set up at anyone with a manor, one more reason. Lfg can be done anywhere. Now even with all that I think they should offer those services. As a matter of fact I think the smugglers 35% should be removed.

Now I don't find these assistants to be worthless, except maybe the smuggler. I like being able to sell off excess junk when farming, I also like being able to deposit into my bank things after running trials and dungeons, without the hassle of going to town. But their functionality could definitely be better.

Considering the lag and stuff that's the whole point. Reduce the need of thousands of ppl in town or hundreds for the sake of better server experiences.

I knew they weren't perfect but I wanted to set the assistants up my house. I saw 5000 crowns each. Went to see what 10,000 crowns cost and almost crapped myself. These guys should run dungeons for me at that cost, much less being substandard bankers and merchants.

Let me finally sort out the guild bank in peace, without the constant duelling and spell spamming around me.
Or the banker moving away from me!

I would make much more use of housing if this change were made. Therefore, I would be much more interested in decorating my houses nicely.

Putting full-function bankers and merchants in houses is perhaps the single easiest thing ZoS could do to significantly improve housing.

Ditto the fence. After all, as Robert Frost didn't quite say -- good fences make good housemates.

I just got the merchant and banker for convience and completionists sake (gotta have everything not greyed out). They need to have the guild bank and the merchant needs to be able to repair. I'd much rather pop my merchant to repair my gear or my banker to sell stuff on the store after a battle rather than schlep all the way to town. Most of the time, the only quest I have in my journal is my crafting (first thing I do when I log on) and Caldwells silver (I haven't done 100 percent of DC yet. Every icon needs to be white :) ) I don't want to have to go back to town just to repair and such if I'm not done for the day. When I'm done I go to town so I can do my writs right away next time I log in.

To me having these functions should be common sense. As for the smuggler? Let her go to Cyrodiil. Then and ONLY THEN should she be allowed to charge a percentage because war is dangerous

We need to be careful that we don't go the WoW garrison way, where it basically sucked people away from the cities, leaving them as ghost towns.. I'm sure we all don't want that.

This is true, but I believe stablemasters, guild traders, quests, pledges etc will still filter people through the towns.

don't worry there will also be people dueling in CITY THE WHOLE TIME AND MAKING LAG !!!

Towns won't become empty. That's not how the server works. Currently all the hotpots such as Wayrest and RawlKha are instanced due to overcrowding. The megaserver manages these instances as people come and go from cities. This puts strain on server. If towns were to be become slightly quieter it would reduce lag and we wouldn't even notice the change just fewer instances. And realistically it's not gonna have that big an impact on people visiting towns cos at 5500 crowns not everyone can buy them both. Plus there will still be other reasons to come to town. So I think the arguments against increasing assistant function are weak

I'm not really a fan of adding too much functionality to homes. Garrisons in WoW are a lot like what you guys seem to be describing, and they killed population levels in WoW's major cities. When they released garrisons WoW had a much larger population than ESO currently does, and the major cities still emptied out. I suspect at current population levels it would be even worse in ESO. One change here or there like increasing the functionality of the assistants may not spell immediate doom, but it is a slippery slope and before you know it we've arrived at homes acting as miniature towns just like garrisons did. Some things should just always stay exclusive to towns, and houses should be houses.

The only thing I really want from the assistants is that they come in different races (1 male and 1 female for each race)

I don't really want the assistants to be as good as the bankers/vendors in cities.

Totally agree with this. People don't want to see the towns empty - and this change would not do that. It only means more money for ZOS, better economy because players will actually want to get involved in housing, and happier customers all around.

If they make this change, along with fixing collision with player placed items for dueling arenas (separate issue, plenty of posts on that argument), They would see a much happier housing community.

Besides, with the inevitable HUGE influx of new players coming and standing around in the towns, wouldn't any stress relief of the servers be a welcomed change?

Do this, Zos. No reason not to. Tagging again to show that the people still want this, nay, NEED THIS!

Oh and btw, with the merchant you can buy repair kits, so its kinda the same thing-ish.

I saw the datamine of a "Improved Banker" and a "Improved Merchant" and got super excited. But then I saw/read (Not sure if a thread or a ESO Live, too lazy to go back and find it..lol), that the "Improvement" means a better appearance, a.k.a. fancier cloths. So bummed. But if we all keep at it we can HOPE, SOON, they will add those functions!
