The current assistants are useless to me, especially the banker. I don't remember the last time I used my personal bank, but I visit a town banker multiple times a day to manage my guild store inventories.

It costs $80 USD to buy the two assistants which ensures that only a tiny minority of players will buy them. Also, people will still need to visit towns to access guild stores.

For 5k crowns the Banker should be able to repair, never mind the Merchant.

I think people are concerned that we won't have a reason to go to town if they implement these changes to assistants while they are placed in your home. I think this is just plain not on case, at all.

    Pledges.

    Stablemasters.

Mages, Fighters, and Undaunted daily quests.

    Guild traders.

    Writs.

    Dueling.

    Looking for group.

There are plenty or reasons we would still be going to towns. I don't want to see Homestead turn into WoW's Garrison either. The difference here is that I think ESO has enough features that are only available in towns to keep them from becoming "ghost towns". Another point to be made is that in the future ZOS could implement more reasons on top of the already existing ones to promote traveling to towns for certain things.

But, to not offer Merchant repair, Banker guild bank/stores, Smuggler laundering, while in the home is seriously hurting the games housing feature in a very significant way.

Many people are not even going to get involved in a house because of this one simple issue. Assistants do not offer full services while in you home. This is bad for everyone.

At 5k crowns per pop for assistants, I guarantee ZOS sees a HUGE influx of sales for these services in homes. Literally almost all people who previously did not want to purchase them will change their minds and buy them on the spot the moment they offer full features - Even just for in the home ONLY.

Make the right decision ZOS! You are only hurting everyones housing experience, and especially your own wallet by not doing this!

Yeah... I was always wondering... "Pirharri the smuggler" has 35% fee on every item fenced.. With maks limit of 140 fences per day it makes her kind of a... useless ?

If they offered guild bank access, merchand repairs and smuggler fence, that would be 3 less reasons to go to town. Dueling, can be set up at anyone with a manor, one more reason. Lfg can be done anywhere. Now even with all that I think they should offer those services. As a matter of fact I think the smugglers 35% should be removed.

Now I don't find these assistants to be worthless, except maybe the smuggler. I like being able to sell off excess junk when farming, I also like being able to deposit into my bank things after running trials and dungeons, without the hassle of going to town. But their functionality could definitely be better.

Do you have a furnished home with your assistants in it? after setting everything up - do you find yourself running to town after dungeon runs, rather than going to your home? Because now that my house is complete, there is no reason to go there, ever again. Without the ability to repair at the VERY least in your home, no one will ever use them as, you know, a home.

Keeping these features from existing in the home assures that they will remain at best a novelty and never have any real use, other than someones dueling arena or something of that nature. This also creates an entire demographic of player who will never even begin to get involved with housing, because there is no point to do so.

I would love to see my assistants get some extra utility, even if only at home.
That said, it would also be nice if my master craftsman could simply repair his own armor from a crafting station, either at home or in the over world....

    I agree OP.

HOWEVER if you decide to do this ZOS, please add more assistants & I don't mean more as in for different purposes only...

I mean give us a choice of WHO is our banker, fence ect.

I am a man of means... I would like the best banker there is and there is no better banker than a Breton!

I also want a Redguard smuggler ( to fence my things ) as the Khajiit takes too high of a cut because he was born to steal.

If we get a repair assistant make it an Orc. So I know my stuff isn't cracked...

I like this idea, and they definitely should offer some flavor to the assistants. But without full features in your house, all of this is for nothing as well, in my eyes.

just give the banker a 10-20gold charge per transaction (each time you move an item back or forward) and the smuggler+general trader type one a 5% cut/cost and you have payed items that are slightly worse then normal versions of the npc's but provide convenience.

keeps p2w moaners happy, keeps customers happy, gives zos more sales. everyone but molag bal wins.

We need to be careful that we don't go the WoW garrison way, where it basically sucked people away from the cities, leaving them as ghost towns.. I'm sure we all don't want that.
Since I've been working on my house mostly this week, the peace and quiet is absolute bliss. I've actually started to dread going into town, there are always people dueling there or just mindlessly firing their AOE or loudest abilities. So for me, if they upgrade the merchant and banker and I get some crafting stations in I'll hardly ever have to go to town, and that suits me just fine. Been hanging around in towns between quests since the game launched, and my home is far preferable. So yes, I do want that.

We don't want people to "never" have to go to town, either though. I'm sure this is a big reason why ZOS didn't implement these features in your house. There will still be reasons to go to towns, but I think they will have to come up with more added incentives, such as a new daily quest givers and things of that nature, that will filter people through the towns.

There is a "best of both worlds" option here, somewhere. ZOS just needs to figure out what the compromise is going to be.

Yup, there are plenty of things that take us to towns, I'm just saying that if it is a concern that ZOS has, they simply just add new things to take us to towns. It's not that complicated, I just want them to see that!

So, you buy a home, furnish the crap out of it, place your assistants, etc. You still have to go to town, not your home, for virtually everything... Why?

Because the merchant can't repair your items.

The banker can't grant access to guild banks and traders.

    The smuggler can't launder items.

Now, I understand that these features should not be included in your assistants when in open world, this makes sense. It forces you to have to go to a town to repair (or buy crown repair kits, probably what they are hoping for), visit the bank for guild bank/traders, or use fence as the one from thieves guild can only buy stolen things, not launder them.

These decisions are perfectly fine, it promotes going to town for certain things, making towns a necessity.

WHY CAN'T YOUR ASSISTANTS HAVE FULL FEATURES WHEN IN THE HOME???!!!

There is no reason that you can not have the full abilities of the assistant while at home. It is doing ZOS's homestead patch a great disservice, as people find no point in participating if you have to go to town after each dungeon run regardless. Give the assistants the abilities the NPC counterparts in town have, and more people will want to get involved in housing, as essentially you can "build your own town", and feel actual purpose when standing in your home.

This change is literally better in every aspect than the current state of assistants, with absolutely no reason not to do so.

    What say you?!

I think you've answered your own question.

I want to see towns populated, not deserted because everyone is doing all their town-based activities in their own private instance. It gives the wrong impression of the game's popularity to new players if they log in and find their starter town deserted.

You say that towns should be a necessity, and that you understand that these features should not be available in the open world. Yet towns are a part of the open world, and having a reason to visit them is indeed a necessity.

I agree with the premise, and I also feel they need to offer more variant choices. Every banker is the same dunmer in imperial suit, every merchant is Nuzimeh, every thieves guild fencer is a khajiit girl. It would be nice if we could reskin these individuals to be whatever we want them to be.

If those assistants would be 'upgraded' someday, I'd buy them in that moment.

    This.

Not only would those of us who have the assistants be very happy with this change, but an entire group of players would actually consider purchasing the assistants for crowns if they become more useful like this.

It will help the success of the housing patch.

It will make ZOS a bunch of money.

Why aren't they doing this again?

Because they want you to go to different areas and interact with NPCs and other players. They don't want the cities to become ghost towns. They want a MMO to appear like a MMO.
