If they are smart they pre calculate all the fixed values, attributes, skills, racial and cpTommy_The_Gun wrote: »Well the problem with "lag" is that there are simply too many variables to be calculated & transferred to server and vice versa. If you have a group of let's say 10 vs 10 in PvP then each of those players have:
1. Racial passives
2. Class passives
3. Weapon & armour passives
4. Gear set bonus (usually with proc sets, there is also a proc chance)
5. Spell & Weapon critical chance, and dmg
6. And on top of that - CP points.
7. Probably a lot more that I forgot abut...
This all needs to be calculated in a blink of an eye for every of those characters on server - side. So the more "stats" - the more variables needs to be transferred - more data to transfer - more lag.

Not quite accurate.
This is a TEST to see if CP calculations by the server are contributing significant lag.
The only way to test it is turn it off on the live server and have players play. You cant simulate it on the test server. You can't compare TF to AZ because the populations are not the same. There could also be differences in the servers themselves causing some of it (unlikely but possible).

This right here. An artificial progression hook that introduces power creep and player gap does not belong in PvP.
Actual competitive PvP players will and should not care because PvP isn't about how many CPs you have.
If ZOS is smart, they'll get rid of the stupid system game wide and just do what almost everyone else does and increase the level cap for big expansions.

I'm all for testing this for a week. But if they would make it into a permanent thing, PvP would die . And more campaigns would have to be removed. 1 non cp campaign is ENOUGH. I can't imagine what it would be like sustaining on a mag without CP. I would have to grind new gear and change up a lot of things. So no thx.

they claim is due to math calculations on the server. = increased lagg
Personally I'm of the opinion that CP is really the vet system under another name (sure you get a choice of what you put where).
I've spent at least 1 hr a day grinding just to get my CP to 561 (which I achieved the day after it rose to 600) and am now 594, so almost at 600.
I've only recently got back into PvP after I gave up on it when the lag first started/
I've also got into dueling
With both of these, those with the most CP obviously have an advantage, sure you can argue skill is better than CP, but a skilled player with max CP........
If they abolish the entire CP system then OK, sure I've wasted a lot of time, but I also made a lot of money while doing so and had fun.
But what I don't want is CP applying to duels, PVE but not PvP
Either it applies to everything or personally I don't want it at all,

InB4 complaints that PvPers can't gain CP experience in Cyrodiil during 2x XP week.

kyle.wilson wrote: »If the lag is fixed by this, I'd say remove all CP and find another way to have an end game progression system.
Otherwise, it would be complete BS.
But, since the lag was worse before CP and proc sets. We'll see!

CP is fake progression. It's just a treadmill. In PvE, ZOS just adjusts Mob difficulty to compensate, In PvP, it unbalances the game and creates ridiculous troll builds.
I realize that some people can't play an MMO with feeling stronger by gaining meaningless progression points even if they realize they are on a treadmill with a carrot tied to the machine. But FFS, if CP is unbalancing the game AND causing lag, get rid of it (at least in PvP). PvE can keep its meaningless progression if it makes people feel powerful even though we all know its a lie.
