ZOS trying to “fix“ PvP lag by deactivating Champion Points - what do you think?

    Champion Points are part of character progression and shouldn't be turned off!
    There was lag prior to the cp system. Secondly with the CP system in place the costs of spells has increased significantly and cost reduction has been reduced as well meaning it's not as it was when it was introduced anyway.

Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

    Props to OP for some interesting choices in the poll. Went with this but honestly think there is much more to this then Zos suddenly wanting to fix the lag in Cyrodiil after nearly 3 years. You have to ask yourself why do something like this now.

    That being said hope it gets fixed and combat/game improves because of it.

    They do not have the same lag issues. That's why it's being tested.

    I don't agree. I've been in the Non-CP ones, they're just as laggy as the others when the fights get big enough. The problem stems from too many Enemy players near you. Game handles friendly players just fine, but enemy ones tank the game hard.

    Seems super awkward...but PVP lag is a serious issue that leaves me unable to play it most of the time. Too many enemy players really freezes up the game fast. Although I have had virtual 1v1 fights that are just me closing the gap and lagging out.

    Is it also an issue for console users?
    Because turning off addons in PVP seems like a good option as well... *cough* Cheaters *cough*... they could be putting undue strain on the system as well.

    There has got to be a way to lower the burden on the servers for PVP, possibly there is something that is just bouncing around in the code that shouldn't be.

    This is the practice I would like to see more from ZeniMax, we cannot possibly wait for every major patch in order to wait for new base game changes. If there's an idea, a solution, I'm completely fine and find it acceptable fomr ZeniMax for time to time to create live experiments like these in future. PvP is difficult to test in the public testing server with no incentive to play in Cyrodiil unless those are dedicated to the future of the update looking for bugs and those who are theory-crafting.

    So if it's going to help the the future of PvP for the better, I'll allow it. It would be awful for players who want to avoid Non-champion point campaigns, but being more a PvE player I guess I can't really sympathizes. I hope ZeniMax gathers the data they need with the results they expect to improve the quality of one of the weakest part of this game.

    Maybe those who actively play on champion point campaigns will learn a little something during this week.

    They have a theory and need to test it. They cannot make major fixes based off assumptions.

    Personally I'm of the opinion that CP is really the vet system under another name (sure you get a choice of what you put where).

    I've spent at least 1 hr a day grinding just to get my CP to 561 (which I achieved the day after it rose to 600 :) ) and am now 594, so almost at 600.

    I've only recently got back into PvP after I gave up on it when the lag first started/

    I've also got into dueling

    With both of these, those with the most CP obviously have an advantage, sure you can argue skill is better than CP, but a skilled player with max CP........

    If they abolish the entire CP system then OK, sure I've wasted a lot of time, but I also made a lot of money while doing so and had fun.

    But what I don't want is CP applying to duels, PVE but not PvP

    Either it applies to everything or personally I don't want it at all,

    I've been in Azura's for the past two days. Outside of lagging part where I had an entire AD zerg rain hellfire down on my poor magplar in heavy armour I have had no issues. Going into Haderus is a mixed bag and Trueflame just god awful. I'm all for the performance testing to see what will be done.

    If this test helps to find a fix to the terrible latency and performance issues of Cyrodiil I'm all for it.

    I don't think removing CP from PvP forever is really an option though. Atleast not one they should consider right off the bat.

    I'm 100% for any test that could result in less lag. I applaud ZOS for thinking out of the box. Despite what some people think there is simply no way to test thousands of people all playing at once other than to do it in the live game.
    This, no the CP point calculations should not be so hard, they also has to calculate all sort of temporary buffs but it could simply be an bug
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Great idea to reduce lag and increase performance!
    Remove battlespirit at the same time imo. Having 25% less damage whilst trying to kill someone with 5k more health is painful. Plus surely BS calculations have to be causing some lag too right? Go full bare bones I say.

    Here's the thing about CP in PvP:

    25% damage buff countered by 25% damage reduction

    you stack offensive, I stack defensive. In a nutshell.

    The only real advantage is the cost reductions to abilities, break free/roll dodge, regen, etc (sustain).

    But here's the thing, the cost of abilities, break free/roll dodge, etc were increased to account for CP.

    You have a situation where the cost is not increased, and you don't have damage nerfs/healing nerfs to account for CP, and a no-CP campaign is fun the same. The only real difference is that with your 600+ you can't burst down people with 100 CP anymore, but if that's the issue, well... git gud ?

    There are a lot of people arguing that with no-CP there goes the sustained. I agree with them, abilities costs was increased over time to account for the green tree (cost reduction/cost regen) which is even more proof that CP are just a bad for the game. I mainly play in Asura Star, with the stamsorc is basically cheating, and the magplar wears seducer. Yes, with no-CP there goes the sustain. Does that makes it less fun? No, it doesn't. I still rather play there then LagFlame. Plus I'm a scrub, I can't sustain if my life depended on it, I play aggressive. There are a lot of much better players capable of sustaining.

    Give CP to do more damage, but increase the enemies' mitigation. Give cost reduction, but increase the cost of everything. I mean... are you kidding me ? There are a couple of neat effects that procs off CP, but we already stipulated that they cause lag, in trials too, so, what's better ? better performances or a neat effect once every 10 minutes ? (inb4 people saying "changes in PvP affects us in PvE, pls remove PvP from the game").

    The only real loss with no-CP is plentiful harvest and quick harvest... if you find a columbine it's a pain to harvest it in Cyro...

    It will make pvp more interesting if they do it in pve vet dungeons and trials will die quickly

    Well the problem with "lag" is that there are simply too many variables to be calculated & transferred to server and vice versa. If you have a group of let's say 10 vs 10 in PvP then each of those players have:
    1. Racial passives
    2. Class passives
    3. Weapon & armour passives
    4. Gear set bonus (usually with proc sets, there is also a proc chance)
    5. Spell & Weapon critical chance, and dmg
    6. And on top of that - CP points.
    7. Probably a lot more that I forgot abut...

    This all needs to be calculated in a blink of an eye for every of those characters on server - side. So the more "stats" - the more variables needs to be transferred - more data to transfer - more lag.
