I have the firmware beta on my PS4 at home. I will eventually purchase more storage for it, its definitely a good idea to do so.
I have a 250gig Western Digital Drive that I plugged into my USB Hub extender and it works through that. So we have a ton of options for drives.
Only thing to keep in mind is, according to NeoGaf, you must be online when you run software off of the external drive. This is because of DRM. ESO was partially the reason that I went with a 2TB drive. That and the fact that I got tired of deleting: Games, images, and videos saved if I wanted to play a new game. And boy oh boy did that make a dramatic difference.

How much difference is there in a ps4 pro to a ps4? I was thinking about going for the new XB for better graphics. Is it worth it? I also heard myths that wayshrining and loading in general is quicker?
My wife and I play side by side on the same internet, me on PS4 Pro with 4k UHD, HDR TV and she with a PS4 on an HD TV. I have to play the game in the TV's "game mode" or I suffer SERIOUS issues in crowded areas. In "game mode", the graphics are better, but the graphics are MUCH better in my TV's "Dynamic" setting.
As for wayshrines, if we both travel to the same location from the same wayshrine, at the same time, I arrive and load-up 3-10 seconds before she does.
What? Our tv settings can affect the game lag?

Yes more so the refresh rate on the TV, but cables to a lesser extent too. But you want to get super technical about it, you can check here;

Though Input lag is more so important for games like Street Fighter, Tekken, or Dead or Alive fighting games.
ESO as an example, on one TV I had really bad ghosting occur when I was playing ESO on it. Looked absolutely horrible. The TV I was using is kinda on the cheaper end of the HD Smart TVs. Though that is more so related to picture interlacing then input delay.

Yes, many TVs have settings that can lower graphics a bit to improve performance. Often the setting is called "Game Mode." I am far from an expert with this type of stuff, but I believe it also dramatically reduces the input lag.1 -

External HDD Support
It’s easy to upgrade the HDD that came with your PS4, but if you’re still looking for more storage space on the console, we’ve got you covered. With this update, you have the option to store content to an external HDD. Just plug a USB 3.0 HDD into your PS4, and voilà, you now have more space on the console.
This is compatible with HDDs up to 8TB in size. You can download and install applications directly to your extra storage, and the saved contents are easily manageable through the settings menu.
Also, all the applications saved in the external HDD will appear in the Content Launcher of the Home Screen so it’s easy to keep track of what apps you launched recently.
Please note: user save files are still stored locally on your PS4 HDD. Only games and applications are stored externally.
Get an external drive for it. Once the 4.50 firmware comes out of beta you can shovel ESO onto a external drive.
That is good news, but as I run an SSD I would probably just put games I don't run as often on the external drive and leave ESO on the SSD to take advantage of the faster load and performance.1 -

Khajiit thought it was only this one having slow and erratic dl. Bouncing between 5Mb and 55Mb.
