I think the 1T patch was something around 12 hours on my PS4. My PS4 runs at a steady 80mbps. It's like being back on dial up whenever a ESO patch is downloading.

Mine runs at a steady 150 mbps, and it only takes around an hour to dl any update at the most. The trick is to leave the console in rest mode. If you're playing other games while it's downloading, of course it will take longer! It's about bandwidth.

Yet every other game and patch I have downloaded, download in no time. Even if my PS4 is in rest mode, ESO patches take waaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than anything else. I can download games twice as large (some a lot larger) as any ESO patch and they only take a fraction of the time. Iirc, the forums were littered by posts from people experiencing the same turtle esque downloads.
If other patches and other downloads were as sluggish as every ESO patch update at my end, I'd agree with you entirely that rest mode is best, but it makes no difference. 6 hour ESO patch will take 6 hours.

Should be soon, historically it's 4hrs for updates and 2-3 for maintenance. If you are online now kill the game / restart and try at 1GMT it should just say ESO requires an update size 300TB or something stupid like that. It's not out yet I keep checking every 30 mins.

Yeah that's why I already started my XBox because I don't want to download for hours when the maintenance is finished... pretty lame that we can't get the update as soon as the servers come down.

I know..usually they send it through like 30 mins before its stated as complete above. I sometimes find though the crappy console won't pull an update through if it's turned on already. Mine seems to only like doing it if it's turned off or turn it on once the update has gone through and attempt to start the game and that'll prompt it. Quality Microsoft for you.

LOL it still prefer it to Sony, never had any problems with my XBox yet (unless you count my 72GB ESO installation as a problem). Downloading huge patches on PS4 is a pain and takes hours and hours and hours because of Sony's cheap and bad servers.

Patches don't usually take hours and hours to download for me. The longest an ESO patch has taken me to download was like 1.5hrs. I think. And that was for 1T.

I'm not talking about ESO patches but updates for other games. One reason I got rid of my PS4 and got an XBox were the horrible PSN servers. In 2 years I only had negative experiences with the Playstation Network, downloading updates / games and the PSN overall.

Ah, I see. I apologize to hear that. I've had relatively great experiences with PSN for as far back as I can remember. Tons upon tons of free games back on PS3 (Resident Evil classics, Street Fighter games, Rockstar classics like GTA:SA and GTA3), free data back-ups, etc. I can't really complain. As for other games patch download speeds, they're usually way faster than ESO. For example, a GTA5 patch that's 5 or so GB's can be downloaded within 5-10mins. And I'm good to play. Overwatch patches are usually 1-2GB's, and I can bang those out within a few minutes as well. So maybe it's your connection perhaps. I don't know.

My connection is working great on PC and XBox, that's the funny thing. It's the DNS issue many PS4 players had and still have. I never figured out how to solve this issue (like thousands and thousands of other PS4 players lol). Sometimes downloading worked but most times it was really slow like 80kb/s instead of 5MB/sec.
