Physical Collector's Edition Upgrade Pack?

Hey there.

I am a long time player who would like to upgrade my current account with the new expansion.
I would however also love the physical Collector's Edition with the book and the stuatue, possibly.
I don't see any bundle that accomodates this in the store so I really just have two simple questions:

Can the game you get with the Physical Collector's Edition be used to upgrade an exisiting account?
Are you at ZOS planning on making a package containing the physical Collector's Edition and an account upgrade key?
- Possibly even at a reduced price since we already own the base game (just like with the digital upgrade edition).

Hope to hear from a ZOS official on this since I am sure I am not the only recurring player/subscriber/supporter who would like something like this.

Buying two editions is simply too much for me at my given time, financially.

Cheers! :)

I believe ZOS (Gina) confirmed somewhere on the forums that the code within the physical collectors edition can be used as an upgrade code.

Yeah that would be the one. I thought it was more clear and confirming than that but I am probably just losing my mind, sorry I couldn't help more.

    That's quite okay.

OK @ZOS_GinaBruno having read that FAQ it doesn't answer this question:
Morrowind® Digital Collector's Edition digital store wth?
    2qbx743.png

If you already own ESO, you'll see this error message. You'll want to get the Digital CE upgrade in this case.

But I can buy the physical morrowind collector's edition (with the statue) and add that code to my existing ESO account, yes?
Some of us really want the physical collector's edition but want to apply the code to our existing accounts. Is this possible? If it is, since the physical collector's edition comes with the base game, do we get to have another account?

    As in:
I already have account Ur-Quan. If I buy the physical collector's edition can I apply the expansion pack to my Ur-Quan account, and then have another new account (call it Ur-Quan_Kzer-Za) that wouldn't have the expansion pack?

    Yes, you can do that.

Apologies for needing to backtrack here, I misunderstood the question. To clarify, you will not be able to split Morrowind from the base game.

(I thought you were asking about applying Morrowind from the physical CE to an existing account - sorry for the confusion!)

@ZOS_GinaBruno Any idea when other places other than Amazon will have the Physical CE? I've checked both Best Buy and Gamestop and they don't even it available yet.

Not yet, but we'll let you know as soon as we have an update.

So it seems like if we want the Physical Collector's Edition we have to also pay for a base game account that we can't use, since we will need to use the key for upgrading our existing account.

OK... still a bit vague here and there. I will get the physical CE, for the book and statue, and all the extra digital swag.
(call me silly, but I really like that armored horse).

Can I apply the code that is in there to my own account to upgrade >> YES.

But can I then proceed to give the "extra" base game from the CE to a friend who might be interested in starting ESO?
Or can I use the new base game disc to continue playing and give away my old ESO disc?

    (I am on PS4)

Basically the physical CE (and the other versions that include the base game) work like the Gold Edition - you don't get 1 code for the base game and 1 for Morrowind, you get 1 code for both. If you use it to upgrade your account you can't then use it to create a new account.

You could give away the disc, but I don't know if someone else will be able to use it to play or if they would also need an account key. I know you do on PC, but I'm not sure if it's different on PS4.

So you're starting the game from scatch an giving you friend your current account ?

From what I understand, the key with the Collectors additon can't be split to allow the base game to be given to someone else.

I think what they are saying is they already have a disc

They are buying the physical CE Morrowind which is another disc and a code for the add-on so they don't need two game discs therefore giving one away but will have their own.

I understand what the are saying. The only way that will work is if they make a new account with the Morrowind key and start a whole new account with all new characters and give their existing account away (which is against the TOS btw).

You can not split the Morrowind upgrade from the CE and just upgrade your existing account and give the new base game away. It's one key for both so you either upgrade your existing account or start a new one. You can't do both unless you buy 2. Just giving the discs away won't work because that person will need a game account key to use them.

I don't think you do understand

If it's Xbox they aren't starting over at all. Their account is their Xbox live profile. The game disc they have is the cd key for the base game.

They are getting the Morrowind physical CE which includes another disc and the Morrowind CE add-on code

This means they will have two ESO base game discs. They only need one

They are giving they disc away and continuing their progress not starting over.

No You Don't understand. The physical CE has ONE CD key code for both. It's not 2 seperate codes. The Morrowind upgrade and the base game included can not be separated period. Of you use the upgrade key on your current account, you can't use the base game included seperately.

This has already been confirmed by Gina Bruno. She mistook someone's question and corrected the error afterwards. You can not separate the upgrade from the base game in the physical CE.

It is NOT about separating the base / expansion from the new disc. If I buy the physical CE, I could just continue playing with the NEW disc, since my account and all of my stuff is not locked to that one particular disc. The disc only functions as a key, since the game is pretty much installed on my PS4 anyway, looking at the GBs it takes up.

But that won't keep me from giving my OLD disc that I use now to someone else, right? I mean, these discs are also sold in the "used games" section of most stores I know. They could then play the BASE game only, since it's a base game disc.

There is and should be nothing illegal in doing so, in the end I have PAID for both games, and ZOS got the money for two players doing a base game, and one person doing Morrowind in addition.

    That doesn't work on PC.

The disc would allow you to install the game, but to log in you need an account and to create an account you need an account key. Each copy of the game only includes 1 key and each key can only be used once. So if you give someone a used copy of the game, or a disc without an account key it's completely useless - they can install the game but they can't ever log in and play.

I think it's different on consoles, but I'm not completely sure how it works. I know you can create an ESO account for each Xbox Live/PSN account on the console, but I thought you still needed at least 1 ESO account key to do that.

That doesn't really answer the question, though.

Console and PC may work differently, because I see the PS4 copies of ESO for sale in "used games" all the time, so they must be still working. I cannot imagine stores selling these if they know they are basically only usable as beer coasters.
If I buy the base game twice, I should be able to use the base game on two different systems, and it shouldn't matter if I own both systems or not.
