Well it was easier to handle in Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. I don't see why it should be this different.

The major difference is the fact that this is a persistent world. You can't just get sent to jail for an arbitrary amount of black-screen time in ESO like you could in previous TES games.
Well they could have an jail but you had to stay there for some real time, very fun then you have an free afternoon for playing
For the genocides you are likely to spend many days.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Actually jail could be done to this game as welll.

If guard gets you and you dont have money, you will be sent to jail.. There you have to spend time which is calculated from your bounty. In jail, the bounty will go away faster than when you are in the open world. You could choose to remain in jail for the duration of sentence or log off and play another while that character is in jail. You could also choose to try and escape from jail but then your bounty would increase and you will be hunted down by guards and killed.

Crime is illegal ya know :P And therefore it has consequences. In a persistent world where your criminal activities like killing innocent people or animals may disrupt other player, maybe even mentally disturb, you will need to have more severe consequences than in single player gae.

By the way, the bounty should go away if guard kills you, right? Just make sure you dont have any stolen possessions on you before you get killed, sell or launder them as they will be confiscated from your cold, dead fingers you criminal scum you ;P

You're a criminal. Either get better at not being caught or deal with the consequences of your crimes.

The justice system wouldn't be fun without consequences, we might as well go back to everyone looting every container in the bank freely.

Putting a character in jail and literally locking off the whole game to them is no fun, and a fast way to lose player interest. If you can't play the game, you're not going to sit in a cell for hours, you're just going to log off and play something else. If a full jail system with "prison activities" was added, it may be interesting for a while, but when that's all you can do, and you can't get to the rest of the game's content, it would get pretty old pretty quickly. Trying to escape may be fun, but that then doesn't help the purpose of getting rid of your bounty.

The purpose of jail is to spend time rather than money to pay off your bounty. The best way to spend time in a persistent world is Community Service as it doesn't lock you out from the rest of the world.

Only if you're carrying enough gold to pay it off. The bounty will only go away if the guard can take the full amount from you, dead or alive. If you're not carrying enough gold to cover the bounty, the guard will take all your gold when they kill you and your bounty will be that much less when you respawn.

I do not see any problem here. As others have said, its a risk vs reward system. You cannot have the reward with out the risk. There has to be a downside to thieving otherwise the bounty system becomes redundant.

More skilled play will help reduce the accumulation of bounties and there are other ways to get it cleared. I understand your frustration my friend, but if you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

How do you people get caught so much?

I think I only ever had a bounty of 50k and that was because I decided to kill civilians in the street on purpose to send them a message...

    Sithis demanded blood.

I only had one that high on PTS, while testing. I consider it a failure to get caught, and a full on failure when it gets about 100.

It is still easy in ESO, requiring only time or gold to resolve.

Would be nice to have a count down of the bounty timer so know how long have until its gone. Or at least know the rate - it just seems to go on gold cost.

Am on ps4, so no add-on possible or would have it!

@Hallothiel It's dependent on level, but at Level 50 it's ~23 gold every 3 minutes (putting points in Swiftly Forgotten increases the amount discarded every 3 minutes). At lower levels, it's less than that, but each crime also provides less bounty, so overall it's similar.

I feel like you over exaggerated on the "still 11k" comment.
Just go steal Thief Troves and use the anti-bounty papers (i forgot what they're called)

It doesn't seem to decrease during maintenance, or at least the first time it came out that gave some trouble. Had nearly the same amount when the server went offline as it did when it came back up.

Also assumes the OP has Thieves Guild DLC. You can't access the troves or get those papers without the DLC.

So to be clear, if i as a player am disturbed by seeing folks mass murdering cats out near Riften because i hate animal cruelty or if i as a character am an argonian who really is disturbed by seeing folks killing crocs in large numbers just to make gold off selling their teeth or my character is a follower of the green seeing folks cruise by and harvest living flowers to resell for gold - those folks should have to pay consequences too?

I thought troves dropped everywhere anyway - but of course you cant get the skill lines etc without the dlc.

Wait an 11k bounty? Really? This is why you're making this thread? 11k is pocket change... Just pay it... Or play on another character for a few days.
