The bounty system is AWFUL

I'm sorry but the bounty system needs a massive nerf because it takes WAY too long for your bounty to decrease. I have a bounty of 11k and I log on the next day to find out it's still 11k.
I really don't wanna lose my gold since I'm saving up for a house, this high bounty is making it impossible for me to sell/buy items and craft things at cities due to the large amount of guards.

Don't log out. Find somewhere to hide and then go make a sandwich and come back. There was or Finally a system planned that would let players hunt other players who had bounty and essentially be justicars but apparently it ran into issues in testing and was scraped. Sometimes I do feel like the bounties are long because it was designed with the idea that you would be fighting other players to get away but I could just be crazy
I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.

You just need a different character with no bounty to buy stuff from guild traders. I have 2 that have had very high bounty for the past year or two, and several others with no bounty.

As for selling items, accessing bank or crafting on a character with bounty, go to Coldharbour.

If you put all your gold in a bank and then proceed to be killed by a guard, does that clear your bounty?

Slot heal skills and rapids, block when guards attack you and run away. Sneak/stealth away from guards and don't get caught.

No. Your bounty is only reduced if the guard can take the gold off your corpse.

This. 1500000 in november, gone down to about 350000 now… I'll pay it off soon… kickback passive helps… rerolling a new character too

Nope, because you have not paid your bounty.

Essentially, get better at thieving and killing an you will not have a bounty.

Thieves Guild, and to some extent Dark Brotherhood passives help with heat and bounty.

How did you manage ? My max bounty has been less than 3000.
I guess you rubberbanded and killed people?

I think the bounty timer is fine the way it is. What would be nice is if bounties were isolated region to region. Wanted in Glenumbra, lay low in Skyrim for a while where no one knows what you done back in Glenumbra.

... If you kept mudering people... i think perhaps you deserve that bounty. You should get a title "Tamerial's most wanted"

You can use the bank and crafting stations in coldharbour, then sneak into Belkath for writs. Just stay out of other cities and do quests, including craglorn. You can probably get people to share you the daily pleadges.

Back when the system was first introduced, there were a bunch of NPCs with instant respawn times. You'd break into a house, murder them, and they'd pop back in instantly. So, a few enterprising players sat there and farmed these guys for hours, filling their inventory, sneaking to the fence, and coming back. Resulting in some hilariously high bounties.

I don't trust anyone complaining about bounties in the millions. After many players used npc instant respawn to exploit cp, I always second guess their excuse for the bounty.

Well l2p or get the passive skills that decrease bounty over time OP, or go into Coldharbour or Cyro to play, no Justice active there ;)

Asking for nerfs is a bit much, you are the one who done criminal actions, so pay up, or be better, do the TG/DB questlines too, they will give access to bounty decreasing passives.

The bounty will decrease at a decreased rate (1/2?) while offline compared to while online.

11k bounty is not a lot lol, but if you have the thieves guild dlc you can obtain vouchers or something which will clear your bounty. In addition, there are passives that will speed up the rate at which the bounty decreases as well as passives which lower the rate you'd pay out.

Sounds like a "learn to crime" issue.
    Don't like the big bounty?
    Don't. Get. Caught.

Sneak a lot. Steal only when they aren't looking. Burglary is better then pickpocketing, since containers have no chance of feeling your hand slip into them. Also there are some locations where you can steal completely unobserved - containers tagged as stealable but with no witnesses in sight (often through quest-related changes in the area).

    Or of you do...
    - flee to Coldharbour or -Cyrodil- and earn something there.
    - do all your selling in outlaw refugees (every one of them has one entrace that is outside the city limits) and all your crafting at overland crafting stations.
    - pay it off, then steal more without getting caught to regain your losses.
    - join the thieves guild for some perks in that regard.
    - raise legerdemain (overland treasure chest hunting!) for more perks in that regard.

And 11K is nothing. Especially now while al those furniture schematics are still selling for good gold...

Personally I think the bounty decreases way to quickly! It makes crime almost consequence-less, unless you go really overboard and murder a whole town or something...
I for one would have preferred if the bounty did not decrease, but was split for each alliance. So you could have a high bounty in DC lands, but be "upstanding" back home in EP lands...

Don't do it if you can't handle the consequences. The game rightfully punishes you if you get caught murdering it's innocent inhabitants.

Its called Risk and Reward, as far I know ESO is trying its best to follow it at least to some lenght. Risk and Reward only gives nice twist to MMORPG, if its not used for everything. Imperial City followed Risk and Reward design too.

If everything is easy, then everything becomes stale, thats something I dont want personally, so that said If anything we need more twists.

It doesn't seem to decrease during maintenance, or at least the first time it came out that gave some trouble. Had nearly the same amount when the server went offline as it did when it came back up.
