Pwew, got all that into one sentence.
The thing that baffles me the most is that you can buy a furnished home and be done with homestead in a minute. That is not content at all...

There have been many sales where crowns have been around 50% off.

I bought 5.5k crowns a while back for £12 , which isn't too much to be honest.
The rest i've just had from saving up my eso+ for months as i've had nothing to spend it on.
Hence i could buy the 15k furnished home at the moment, all it's really cost me is £12 because i was subbed anyway.

I would say this is the reason - they're making the Crown store furnished option look great vs buying an unfurnished option either through paying gold or Crowns.
Although unless you're broke in game gold buying smaller houses using gold still looks like the better option.
They really overpriced houses and furnishings in the Crown store, it's really quite nasty and abusive.

When capitalism is abused, yes, it sucks.
Normal controls of taking your business elsewhere when mis-pricing occurs are less applicable for an mmo. You have time invested and relationships formed.
Personally, I am more mildly irked by the lack of housing functionality and high pricing than infuriated. Ymmv.

Pretty interesting. If you know anything about marketing and pricing, it says a lot.
The grind for furniture plans and mats is inconvenient enough that many will see the price difference between the furnished and unfurnished and decide to pay the difference to avoid the grind.
Smart move, ZoS.
