Can I Buy the 'Steam' ESO gold edition and still use my characters?

Title sounds a bit confusing but basically I bought ESO when it first released on disc and haven't got it on steam, however ESO gold edition is on sale on steam and I was thinking off getting it for all the dlc instead off constantly paying for subscription and so I have it linked to steam. But will my current characters be able to move over to steam as well?

✭✭✭✭✭I thought that the Gold edition was a brand new game, and upgrade was not allowed. For those of us with the game, the DLC pack in the Crown Store is the option. I think the only exception is if you do not have the game on Steam, then you are allowed to do a one time transfer of your current game to the Steam purchased game.XBox EU/NA:@ElsonsoJannus

ZanzeiSoul ShrivenI can confirm that, after linking my ESO account to Steam and downloading the client there, then purchasing the Gold Edition, I got all the 4 DLCs. After the purchase, I got an in-game mail saying that I have bought the "Guilds and Glory Pack", even though I bought the Gold Edition.1
