Housing huge disappointment

Homestead for now is just a big money dump with almost nothing new in return. There is no additional storage, or even access to your other characters inventory.

The only good thing that it can do is if you craft all crafting station and add some bank access (by placing NPC). But it all cost too much. Why to craft a crafting station when I can go to any city and the crafting station and bank is right there ?
The only unique thing that housing has to offer is... a training dummy.

So... the costs simply does not justify the benefit (at least for solo or non guild players). It simple does not give any clear benefit whatsoever.

But hey, it is new content, there is nothing to worry about :D

My statement "constructively help improve it", is worth more than anything in OP's non-constructive whine post (which contained zero suggestions for improvement I might add). If you felt insulted by my post, good. You taking offense means that you felt targetted by my post. That implies you secretly think yourself a whiner. The first step in any quest to improvement is admitting you have a problem. Losers whine. Winners are too busy working to make something better than whining.

Don't flatter yourself. You assume far too much and probably are projecting what's actually going on in your head onto others. The real losers are those like you who refuse to hold a company accountable for its products, but instead snipe at the company's customers.

Multiple times I have offered a suggestion to "constructively help improve it" by saying what's wrong with the housing editor and suggesting how it could be improved. The simple addition of a direct up/down control would improve it a lot.

If you want to just gobble up whatever crap sandwich is thrown at you, fine. Have at it. But other people are not obligated to take your bullying attempts to get them to follow your lead.

    Few things

    1. Yes it's a huge disappointment considering DAlC offerings and some Devi worked there who are now here
    2. Also a huge disappointment because no ideas came from Skyrim
    3. The intricate furniture should've been the house. Ppl wanted housing not furniture crafting
    4. Crowns have been out of whack for over a year but until over 90% stop sub and stop buying crowns .....sigh

The limited use of the houses is why I haven't bought one yet.
I've seen a few people with the housing titles you get. Unless its a 'guild house', the player was rather gullible to dump that on something that is rather pointless.

If we get housing storage, I may buy the house just outside rawl kha. Otherwise its not worth crowns or gold.

Agree - adding some reason for having a house (and I'm not a fan of instanced housing) would help a lot. Sure for many the decorating etc is fun - and I really enjoyed the non-instanced housing in Archeage but so far, have little interest in getting a house.

I kinda found the houses anti-climatic, still, did the quest, got an x scooma den for free.. Bought a stool, put a candle on it.... Sat on the candle a few times, giggled... Went and played the game!!

I reccon I've maximised my enjoyment from housing... Game on ZoS

I know that the starter apartments are free and not supposed to be big, but my gosh I can't even see in there, first or third person. I don't think a bed would fit if I ever get or make a bed. This is supposed to be an Inn room, not a prison cell. At least make it big enough to put a bed in and a basic table and chair to sit at. This is making me feel like going back to EQ2 so I can have fun in my houses there. Even the starter noob houses in that game give you enough space to actually decorate and feel like a nice apartment (their starter homes have 2 floors, and yes they do sell special homes on the cash shop, but they at least give us a decent space and lots of easy to get decorations to get us addicted). That's bad when a game makes you feel like playing another game.

I feel and was thinking the EXACT same thing! I was so bored of EQ2 a while ago but the one thing it really did get right was housing and holy crap ZOS your housing is just lazy and a complete joke! I have actually had thoughts about going back to EQ2 for the housing since Homestead came out a couple days ago.

-EQ2 free inn room gave you plenty of space to decorate and feel like it's an inn room. You guys gave us a damn broom closet.

-EQ2 you can place pets and mounts and they actually move around and you can interact with them. You guys made them static standing in the same spot just doing their (for some pets) stupid animations and nothing more.

-EQ2 you can store items as well as list items to put up for sale on the broker (their AH system). You guys give us no storage or anything useful and use the lame excuse because only a small percentage of players have actually bought bag and bank storage. I can tell you for myself and most of my friends, the reason we haven't (and I can only assume for most but not all) is because bags and bank storage upgrades are ridiculously expensive! To use that as an excuse to not add storage to housing is ridiculous and shows how greedy you are (you keep the gold prices so high to push people to paying 1000 crowns ($10 roughly) per upgrade (10 slots per upgrade) which is ridiculous. You guys are very out of touch with this!

-EQ2 prices on the cash shop are still much more reasonable for their houses than here. These homes are tiny, useless and boring in comparison and you overcharge big time for them.

-EQ2 offers basic furniture from merchant NPC's to get started (as mentioned above in other posts) to give a good taste and make you want to upgrade to better furniture, etc... You guys gave absolute garbage (not even a bed FFS).

-EQ2 mats to craft furniture are same mats and same frequency but from what I am reading here this is different and unique mats specific for furniture? That's ridiculous if that is the case and should just use the same materials, not new ones with apparently crappy drop rates. (this point, as I said, is what I have gathered from some reading of other users complaints but haven't tried this furniture crafting yet personally).

That's it at the moment that I can think of to add to this list for now. I know it's not forced on me and I will choose not to play with the housing system or go beyond the free broom closet room that was given at the end of the quest but I at least wanted to voice some of this and hope ZOS wakes up because the game really is a great game in general even if I don't agree with ZOS's greed (crown crates for example, I hate these things and refuse to support this crap). Sell items at a more reasonable cost (not 4500 for an Elk mount or 6000 for a motif) and more people will buy stuff and in the long run bring in more sales and money than the few sales from people who have too much money laying around. Greed is always short-sighted and never looks at the long-term.

It's sad that a game as old as EQ2 (12 years) has a much better housing system than this that had so much potential to be great. Rift had a pretty good housing system too and my favourite housing systems would have been DAoC, SWG and EQ2. All much older games than this but I'm just bored of the gameplay in EQ2 and Rift so I'll continue to play ESO since I enjoy the rest of the game and just wait until Morrowind comes out.

I keep LOLing that this system took YEARS to implement when they are all just copy/pasta. Obviously, most the time was spent deciding how to extract the most money from the players.

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

    I haven't bought a house yet.

I really love the outside of the Serenity Estate as well, and i had lots of ideas for the outside, but found the house to be meh. I never really liked the layout of the kajiit houses.

I'm looking more at the smaller houses for gold now because I just couldn't find one of the larger ones I really loved all aspects of.

I also would have loved a small house on a beach somewhere.

Also why do they use red in almost everything ?
Red couches, red bed spreads/canopies, red wall decorations, red rugs, red walls...
How about some greens and blues once in a while??

I have around 4 million coins on my characters and I see no reason to buy any kind of house. What is the point? I don't have a banker or merchant. But even if you have them you can't access guild stores through them.

Crafting tables etc, It looks like it's harder to get and place them then simply use them on demand in their locations like before.

Designing house etc, if you like this aspect of the game simply download Sims, you will enjoy it much more and it's much more simple. Right now all the idea of designing your own living place is pretty complex and time consuming.

I have many guild members with their houses who will invest into skeletons, crafting tables etc.. they also have banker and merchant in their place. It seems that porting to their place will be more viable than into mine, then what the heck? I bet there will be 3 players who will visit my place annually, so I will spend several hours a day now to prepare my house for their visit so they will get impressed! HELL NO! :-D

Anyway, all the homestead part of the game is so complex right now that I simply sell anything I find relating to this feature.

Give me some PvE. Give me some PvP. I came here for this. You bugged group searching tool. You bugged low graphic support. I have 10 fps right now pretty stable. Thanks for you work ZoS.

ZOS, I'd like to leave some feedback here.

I'd really like to participate in housing, but the current iteration is not good enough. Furniture is too expensive and hard to come by and house prices would be reasonable if they weren't copy/pasted from existing places in the game and there was more to do with them.

The biggest reason I'm not going to participate in housing for now is that other MMOs (EQ2, DAOC, LOTRO) have housing systems that absolutely crush what you have now...and they did it at a MUCH cheaper price than you're charging.

When I got my free inn room I was literally laughing out loud. The room was so small I couldn't believe it. It's a broom closet. It's totally worthless. In EQ2 you got a free room that was MUCH bigger and you could expand it and make it bigger. It had function too, by the way. You could store items and list items for sale. Cool items you found in the world could be placed and interacted with.

All in all, I just can't invest in the system as it stands. I think I agree with everyone who was saying money was put first while this thing was built, and that made the system inferior to what it should be.

I don't. But I can't use group finding tool. So according to your logic I need simply stop using it.
And I have 10 fps now because they locked me to high setting and my pc is not good enough. So I need to stop playing and thats it. Simple, right?

Just goes to show someone will always be unhappy with anything.

I remember when I walked into the Castle at Daggerfall City for the first time and looked around and I thought to myself. I WANT THIS CASTLE.

Well now I can have it - the only trouble is there are others properties that I want more, first.

On one hand I can understand the dislike for the "copy and paste" but on the other, it works fine for me. There are several properties in the Homestead update that I'd love to have/

This is not to say there aren't some things that could be changed or added to increase the QOL aspect of Homestead, but having paid attention to what the developers have said about it, I know that this isn't the end of Homestead updates, but barely the beginning. More will be added.

I've got some constructive feedback for the housing system. Don't create a hollow shell of a housing system by copy/pasting existing assets, provide very little of the desired functionality within the system, and then lock it all behind ridiculous gold and crafting requirements in an effort to drive people to your storefront, where the copy/pasted houses are being sold for $80+. If I ever pay that much real money for an in-game house, I sure as hell am not doing it for the "foundation" of a feature. I want a complete feature.

Those who complain are telling it like it is, which it is. The two of you are telling what it MIGHT BE, or might never be. So sad. If you are so happy with it, why do you think ZoS will feel the need to improve it? If customers demand less, companies will give you less. That's guaranteed in any business.

I didn't think I would like housing as much as I do, its actually a really great addition to the game and there is no reason they can't add storage later down the line. So far housing has been a blast.

this is so creative! people are coming up with so many cool ideas i never thought of. and i agree. i am having an absolute blast with housing. The grumblers can't steal my fun :P maybe i'm 5 years old-but stuff like doing this (attached) is entertaining me-lol! the fox doesn't look like a taxidermy mount. and neither does the monkey. the fox ducks and hides inside there and the monkey looks like he's goin' to town on the bananas

All the insides are copy and paste from their zones. Daggerfall Overlook is a copy/paste of the castle in Daggerfall. Serenity Estate interior is a copy/paste of Skywatch Castle. Same for Serenity Falls, copy/paste of EP.

It's actually very, very, very lazy on ZoS end. The fact that the most pricey buildings in the game(gold wise & crown store wise) are literally the same exact layout as another building in the game is extremely lazy.

Yeah, exactly. I was expecting a unique house design. It's all copy past from existing buildings.

All this may be true, but I really haven't spent any time considering it. One thing is certain - the Craglorn Cave dwelling is very unique and attractive. Of course it is not yet available for purchase but if you have not yet toured it, you should. It is NNW of Shada's Tear Wayshrine. Check it out. Perhaps you will find it more to your expectations.

Considering this is meant to be a quarter worth of 'DLC' content, I'm very underwhelmed. OK, my whelming would have been limited as I've little interest in housing, but to call this a full quarter update is up there with releasing two dungeons and calling that a DLC.

This wasn't an update for our gaming purposes, this was an update for crown store reasons

so...they made the game f2p. LOADS of people pride themselves on paying for nothing whatsoever in the game. They have morrowind coming out, plus having to continue with the free content upgrades plus keep working on balance etc. Each thing is bound to have different teams working on it, as well as forum moderation teams, customer support, advertising, etc. To actually make money while being f2p-they have to do stuff that will entice people to pay money SO that-they can advertise, SO that they can get more people to play SO that they can do more of all the things everyone enjoys. I'm posting my opinion, which I'm sure has been stated several times already.

The plans and materials are ridiculous to find, I spent over 3 hours grinding, and got 1 green plan for a chair, and 4 pieced of the heartwood or whatever its called. The drop rate for mats are way to low. Also, each item requires such a diverse amount of mats... trying to build anything myself feels close to impossible. After 3 hours of grinding mats I should be able to make something! Even if its a welcome mate or something stupid...

At least pick 2 of the below if you wont do all of them...
    1) Increase blueprint drop rate
    2) Increase mats drop rate
    3) Reduce amount of mats needed
    4) Let us steal small furnishings, such as candles, plates, etc.

    Happy Gaming!

Well, I guess if you don't enjoy housing: don't do it. We say it time and time again, but not everything will appeal to everyone.

I for one am thoroughly enjoying Homestead thus far.

This is the most absurd statement. Most of the people want to do housing...the way it is implemented just makes it not worth it.

You basically said they implemented something sub par so don't do it. How about they do it RIGHT. The copy and paste had to be the most lazy way to do it I can humanly think of other than NOT doing it. Hell, they might as well not in its current state.

Also, if the copy/paste ones you can buy with in game gold are $150 real money. How much will the unique one be? But your are right...my choice was to not participate in something that could have been great.

That is not what he said. He said everything won't appeal to everyone and if you don't like it then don't do it.

I am not agreeing with what they did but his statement is pretty accurate and far from absurd.

I've set up 5 businesses, the first directly out of uni when i was 22 so i'm more than aware of running a business, ta. Let's say that this update is self-funding through the crown store, because, lets face it, the amount of work involved in this was tiny, then where is the update for ESO plus people this period, the one we have paid 3 months sub to receive

in all your businesses did you let people use your stuff for free? Would it cause you to struggle to deliver the high quality intricately created stuff? (such as morrowind) when you think about the amount of maintenance needed for all these people who don't contribute to their success-you start to get a feel for the why's. Put it in the context of any other business-offering their services for free with perks if you pay. Wow is arguably the most financially successful mmo and they give nothing for free other than small content patches. There is NO way they would give the player base something as enormous as housing for free. Not a chance. Let alone 4 decently sized updates a year
