Whats the reasoning behind this change?

They want the bread-and-butter spammable of each weapon line to be the first ability to unlock.

So for 2H, they moved Uppercut to the first position. For DW, they moved Flurry. For bow, they moved Snipe. And for destro, they moved Force Shock.

Destructive Touch was never meant by be a spammable--it's a single-target DoT (with enough of an initial hit that some people try to use it as a spammable). Likewise with Twin Slashes and Poison Arrow.

It's a good change. For veteran players, this change makes no difference. But for newbies starting the game, not only does this make the weapon easier to use, but it also signals to them what the main skill should be (how many times have you seen newbie players use Destructive Touch as if it was a spammable?).

So they want to help bad players be less good that they were before?

Makes no difference? I have to re-level poison arrows because of this bull$%^#
MMAGA - We Made Medium Armor Great Again
Evasion: Casting this ability and its morphs now requires that you wear 5 pieces of Medium Armor.

The way they calculate how the XP carries over is less than desirable and results in an unfortunate a one-time inconvenience (a max-level character can have it re-leveled in a matter of days, though).

But that issue of how they handled the swap is separate from and irrelevant to the overall goal of making the weapon line's main direct-damage ability the first one to unlock. Unless you think it's a good idea to encourage people to spam DoTs like poison arrow and destructive touch.

Snipe spam isn't very good. But it's better than poison arrow spam.

Question i play on Xbox, i just came back to ESO and i have been leveling up force shock. I never put any skill points in destructive touch so does that mean when this goes live on Xbox then i would have destructive touch and its morphs leveled up instead of force shock?

Destructive touch is more than a dot, it also has direct damage each time it hits the target and also, works to some degree as CC ability which a sorcerer could use as first skill from that staff.

And for the players that spammed dots that are first skill in line, they will also spam it be it last skill or first skill, it makes no difference. They dont read the description at any level.

People need to learn to read ability descriptions and players need to advice people who they see doing something wrong..

Though i have to say that each time i try to advice someone, they6 just keep spamming that ability which should not be spammed and go merrily on their way without any response, well most of them anyway. 1 out of 20 may say "thanks" and learn.

No, if there was never any use on that skill, it has never leveled at all and will still be rank 1 with no xp in it. Your force shock may have gained ranks though.

I wish i had noticed this change before i respecced my lil sorc, i had the destructive clench morphed allready and now the destruction touch is just rank 2 :(

ZOS is really taking a backwards approach to teaching players how to play this game. Instead of making descriptions of the abilities better, they nerf abilities to "bring everyone closer to the middle". Instead of giving new players better tutorials for their weapon and armor choices they move abilities around. The truth is the vast majority of casuals the play this game for an hour here and there will likely never learn the game the right way. Because they dont have the time and they dont have the interest. Its like CoD, most players will avoid developing any skill but instead simply "turn off" any sort of thought process and just move through the motions over and over again.

I would not say "Casuals" are the prtoblem. There are many casual i know, and i also consider myself a casual because i do not enjoy competitive gameplay.

But while we consider ourselves casuals, we do read skill adn passive descriptions and test how they best work while still maintaining the characters fantasy and fun factor with vastly varied builds from so called best builds.

The problem i see, is with mechanics ZOS has implemented like Dolmen grinding and mob grinding, there all åplayers seem to learn "Spam this" playstyle because these groups are way too large to actually even try to play like one should. Only way to get any hits anywhere, is to spam some ability, then they learn to spam AOE abilities and all the time they spam something becaue otherwise, they cant hit anything at all. These zerg trains are the problem because players simply cant learn to play in these groups. Some do but many seem to continue the spam trend after getting to level cap and doing dungeon or doing quests, people are spamming abilities or light attacks everywhere and i did not see this behaviour as mainstream until these dolmens became grind arenas.
