All the zone quests go under the tab heading for that zone.

Are you wanting the tabs broken down even further to something like:

    Main Tab: Glenumbra
    Tab: Glenumbra Storyline
    Tab: Glenumbra Side Quests

I guess that makes sense although I personally haven't had issues figuring out what quest was part of the next chain. I guess if I left off the main zone quest for a while I might forget which of the Glenumbra zone quests picked it back up again. But it's not like I'm going to mix it up with quests for other zones and things because they are all in their own tabs.

The faction-zone quests sucked anyway and contradicted itself to the point of being shameful.

Daggerfall Covenant - Glenumbra: Stop evil necromancer from destroying Glenumbra using his pet werewolf & cult members.

Ebonheart Pact - Stone Falls: Stop evil Daggerfall Covenant from using necromancy and black magic to take over EP.

Pretty *** dumb if you ask me. Funny, I didn't even catch a whisper of the invasion of EP by DC while doing Covenant quest ;)

I've rescued a few newbies from doing craglorn hard stuff and rage quitting. See the DC storyline goes glenumbra, stormhaven and in there you see a cart which takes you too craglorn. Which looks right as it's nearby. They run in and out of group zones don't understand why some delves they can do some they can't. Attempting to do DAilys end up in a confused mess unsure what to do.
Now you can follow cadwells silver and gold butchered is no bronze, having a bronze level and setting this up strait of the bat with a fresh character. with an occasional informative load screen message hinting at, or putting it in wailing prison for the mentio it might help.

I don't like how One Tamriel opens up the main quest lines from competing alliances.

It doesn't make sense from a chronological or lore perspective. All 3 alliance quest lines happen concurrently, so doing them consecutively results in a nonsensical story. It also doesn't make sense lore-wise because why would the king of the Daggerfall Covenenant hire the Aldmeri Dominion's top agent (you) to work for him? And why would said agent take on quests where they kill their own countrymen?
This has nothing so to with one tamriel. It was like this from the start. After completing your alliance, you could do Cadwell's Silver and Cadwell's Gold after that. I agree it makes no sense at all and the story justification is ridiculous (You needing to see the story from multiple perspectives, to be able to handle future threats).

But you can thank the pre-launch whiners for that. They screamed murder about the factionlocked zones, and wanted to be able to do the entire game on one character. ZOS caved in the end and this is the result. A hastily constructed opening of story lines that makes no sense at all. After your initial storyline is done and you switch over, it all becomes loose sand. I really couldn't get into it. Not at all.

This. Like a little ZQ: by the quest name in the journal, and a yellow arrow for those quest givers that pop up after you've completed one.

Most of my friends who I try to get into the game just get lost with all the quests scattered everywhere and no specific order or direction.

while side quests should be like that, the main alliance quests should have a tab on its own in the journal that directs you in where to go next just like all previous elder scrolls game.

Even as an old player who has 6 characters at max level I still get lost finding the next alliance quests and i need to do them for the skill points.

Wrothgar questline should have a tab of its own, thieves guild, dark brotherhood, etc. On wrothgar it took me a few months to discover the next main quest by accident.

I've had a couple of friends who left the game from the beginnging just from how unorganised the quest system was.

Please fix this ZOS, I think this is a simple enough fix that should greatly improve the quality of life for players.

ZOS NEVER LISTENS TO WHAT THE PLAYERS WANT!!!!! THE DEVS DON'T EVER DO ANYTHING THAT PEOPLE REALLY PUSH FOR ON THE FORUMS!!!!!!!!!

Announcement of One Tamriel....now the factions aren't locked, any quests can be done in any order in any zone, despite the fact it plays merry hell with the story/progression.

FINALLY!!!! THIS IS THE WAY THE GAME SHOULD HAVE BEEN FROM THE FIRST DAY!!!!!

OMG THE DEVS OPENED THE FACTIONS AND ALLOWED PEOPLE TO DO THINGS OUT OF ORDER!!!!!! NOW THINGS ARE CONFUSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GIVE US MORE HANDHOLDING AND DIRECTIONS THAT PEOPLE STILL WON'T BOTHER TO READ TO DUMB THINGS DOWN EVEN MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The devs can't win, no matter what they do. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Know what? People who won't read quests, or who won't explore and talk to npcs won't bother paging through dozens of tabs in a journal. Doing the main quest pieces directs you to the next npc you need to talk to; only the Prophet showing up 5 levels apart could confuse new players until they figure it out. I actually had a problem trying to NOT do all the Wrothgar main quest pieces one after the other. Only the fact I kept running into the other npc quest givers while running around doing the main quest managed to space things out a bit.

I hate when people use this as an argument without knowing what they're talking about.

Have you played any TES game prior to Oblivion? The journal systems were awful. Journal entries were chronological instead of sorted by questline, and it was all jumbled together. Morrowind had a topic search system but... yeah, it didn't really help much with regards to figuring out what quest was what. I remember when Oblivion came out, there was a mad furor over the introduction of quest markers and a sorted quest log, because it "dumbed down" the game too much, and took away some of the exploration element that were the previous games' strengths.

You can have your opinion, but don't drag what you think is "traditional" for TES into it without having played more than two of the games. :p

Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."

I don't think the zone levels is the problem nor one tamriel, I actually think its one of the best things they did in this game, but the just need to keep the main zone quests organised and easy to follow and for your case that would still solve your issue even if its all scaled

You said personally it was awful before, why would you want something to be awful in the game. Im not saying they should change it because it was in the previous elder scroll games, but because it was good.

I started the elder scrolls with oblivion so i dont know what it was like before, but it doesn't matter with my argument

I find myself looking for the main faction quests for Cadwell's Silver & Gold a lot. When in doubt, I can refer to the Cadwell's Almanac checklist, but sometimes I'll just look at the map and go to a town marked in black and do quests there until I get a message saying I saved the town or something like that, making the town marked white in the map from then on.

The way I look at it - if you are just, grinding might fit here, the main questline for skill points - you are not a new player. You are at minimum the type of player who did some research, ergo you should be able to find the wiki hints others posted here.

Basically don't pick up any quest other than the first you get and then move along. There are only a few parts where you have to pick up the next quest pretty close to where you stop. Yes there can be a slight "what now" moment.

That said there should be no problem marking the quests in the tracker at least with a little symbol within the quest name, maybe the alliance symbol. Or bold font one size larger etc.

I would say make my it clear which quests go with which guild would be a nice QoL it's not really needed since a quick look at the quest makes clear which guild it's for.

again I noticed this was an issue for many new players you leveled 8 characters so you may be more used to it. Personally as a person who leveled 6 characters I still sometimes get lost finding the next main quest.

Th guild quest even sometimes don't show after you finish the one before it. I have one character with max level and everything and still didnt get the final quest of the mages guild cause i probably need to go the right city for the to find the npc who gives the quest

The one thing I get confused about questing is that I have no idea which quests are part of my factions "main story quests" and which are just side quests. So to make sure I finish my faction story, I just do every single quest in each zone. I know there are quest add ons and guides , but in game, there doesn't seem to be any indication of which are main story quests.

For example my AD character is currently wandering Reaper's March right now but I don't know what the actual story is. And then I have one character of each faction doing each factions quests, so it adds to the confusion.

For every main zone quest line, the quest giver appears basically as soon as you finish the current location. The Prophet appears, as well for the main actual quest line.
This. I'm a (relatively) new player, and once I figured out that the new quest giver appears close to the old one, my game has gone smoothly. It didn't make me rage or quit. It just makes it about 1% more challenging to finish the questlines, which is a non-issue.
