The accounts not upgraded at all are the trial accounts from those weekends that were never played again.

It's just astonishing that that are supposed to be 50% of the accounts in total... >:)

Bear in mind while we all sit here snarling into the void that is the internet... yes, it's most likely true that most people don't upgrade, I'm in 5 guilds and out of nearly 2000 player we surveyed a few months back on a variety of topics less than twenty were at max storage capacity, Also remember that most people don't post on forums either.

That is why they don't use forums as their be all and end all. This place is a niche, whether you like it or not. It's the same reason they aren't churning out new stuff for pvp. There just ain't enough of you and there never will be. The forums do what the internet does in general, it focuses in populations of increasingly extreme views into smaller and smaller self reinforcing cliques all utterly convinced that their view of the world is the only possible correct one.

Sooner or later you're going to have to accept that us forum types are a tiny drop in a fairly big bucket, they ain't going to tune the whole world to us just because we are so narrow minded and tunnelled of vision that we cannot even imagine just how little of the player base we actually represent.

I have only upgraded my bag space once throughout my tenure here in ESO.
Also, that's some bs statistic you've got there, OP.

I upgraded my bank to 140 for a long time, finally spending gold to reach 150 today. Most of it is used up.

My main has 200 carry space, while my two alts have 160-180 carry space, mostly used up.

My 5-6 pack mules have 140-160 carry use all used up. My guild bank has around 460 of items.

Looks like I don't need player housing storage though! Only 3% of players upgrade their bank/character space all the way -_- smh

I always need more space, so I upgraded bank as much as I could, and bags on all my alts whenever they get enough gold together... and its still not near enough! (but that may be because I tend to collect stuff, like those civilian clothing things, and so on)

It's actually interesting because if those 50% who never upgraded are really active playes and not accounts played for a week and abandoned, then it proves that the forum is completely out of touch with the reality of the game - while we continuously accuse the devs of being the ones out of touch. That'd be quite an embarrassing revelation...

I haven't maxed any character bag space out and I have 9. I take my bag space up to 110, then up to 170 via the horse training. I'm not sinking +60k gold on 10 extra spaces. I have maxed my bank only because that's account wide.

I voted in the other poll too, just adding my voice here too.
    My stats from that:
Only my main has everything fully maxed, that's Inventory at 200, riding at 60, bank at 240. (Although bank is redundant as used across characters)
So including my 5 alts, which have only a little bit of space on them (since I don't really play on them)
    Totals 952 spaces.

Bank and 12 characters maxed out.

Apparently I am one of the 3% of the playerbase that has done that. Seems a bit unbelievable that its that low.

    .

It depends how it's calculated. I also have 12 chars, with bank maxed out and inventory maxed out on 8 of them. For the remaining 4 characters, I cannot possibly max them out quicker than the daily horse riding lesson ingame for each of them. It's limited to 1 per 20 hours per char. Unless I spend crowns for it, which I obviously don't want to.

So in my eyes, they are all "maxed out" because I've done all I could do without spending RL money. But 4 of them are not yet at 200 bag space. So they're not actually maxed out.

Now how did ZOS make this statistic ? Per character ? Per account ? If it is per account, then I don't belong to those 3% - even though inventory space IS my highest priority in the game and I've done everything I could on ALL my characters.
If it is calculated per character, then 8 of my chars belong to those 3% and 4 of my chars don't...

The truth is, you cannot really make any use or interpretation of any statistics if you don't know in detail the data used and the methodology behind it.

This poll is more representative of the active player base than from where they got their 50% statistic from.
The forum population isn't especially representative of the active player base. Having said that, I don't disagree with your statement that I've quoted. The forum population may not be especially representative of the active player base, but I'd agree that it's highly likely to be more representative of the active player base than where ZOS got the 50% statistic from.

Unless we're really totally out of reality, and the vast majority of ESO players just uses the game as a big theme park for role playing, getting dressed, taking screenshots and playing "Sims in Tamriel" ?

I'm not ironic here. I'm rather quite puzzled by this statistic. Either ZOS think we're stupid and lies to us, or they've considered a totally inappropriate base for their statistics... or we as regular players/forumers have simply NO IDEA what the actual playerbase really looks like or really is ?

Based on ZOS info I'd say the forum total population is around 3% of the active player base for all platforms and drastically less on Xbox one than PC and PS4

I've talked to a lot of players on Xbox who never come here and refuse to.
Their comments are that if they wanted them to come here their Xbox gamehub posts would direct them here instead of just to announcement articles.

Makes sense but 1% even of the active base is over 10,000 forum users so maybe there's 50,000-100,000 registered on the forums but I doubt 50% of all forum users come by weekly to comment or use a poll

It's usually just to read patch notes which was me when playing wow for the first 6 years of that game

Where it the world did you come up with the stat that 50% of people haven't upgraded their bags or bank? That doesn't even seem possible.

Actually, they seem to be as surprised as we are. They commented that they need to raise awareness of bank and bag upgrades.
    Rosveen wrote: »
We actually don't know if 97% is the right number. Does ZOS count alts? Abandoned accounts?

It is true that we don't know the criteria used for their search, but given the comments they made on ESO Live, it is unlikely that these numbers were casually obtained. They were likely examined and checked.

The more relevant number is the 97% of us who have never upgraded storage all the way to max.

This means for 97% of players, there is still more storage space we can buy with in-game gold or crowns. I suppose only 3% of players would be the primary prospects for buying that extra space beyond what is available from upgrading bank and backpack.

This is me. I have no interest in bulk storage in houses because I am not near max storage. House storage would be inconvenient. All I want is the ability to display trophies. I don't even want the ability to display armor and weapons because there are no such items that i feel are collectibles in the game.

In this respect, I am probably in a group sized near to, if not smaller, than the 3%, so it is time to chuck the collectibles in the fire. I misinterpreted what they were for. They are things to be briefly appreciated, then discarded.

In any case, the theory is that the average player does not visit the forums. These poll results indicate that someone is out of touch with the bulk of the player base. I would not be so quick to point fingers at ZOS.

Everyone I know is always trying to get more bag or bank space. I constantly see new players asking, "Where can I buy more bag slots." Someone always tells them of the bag vendor and that you can buy bank slots at the banker. I can't imagine anyone playing to lvl 50 without some bag upgrades...it just doesn't seem possible.

I've personally maxed out inventory slots on two characters, I have several at 170-190 slots and one new one at around 105 slots. I maxed out my bank slots long ago. I kinda find the numbers Zenimax tossed out for upgrade statistics hard to swallow based on my experience playing the game. There must be loads of people who tried ESO, never upgraded bags and never came back to play again if their estimates are correct.

On my main account, my bank is fully upgraded and most of my character packs are upgraded to 120.

HOWEVER, I purchased 9 additional accounts when they were on sale just so I could have 5 private guild banks. On one of those accounts, I've upgraded at least once. On the other 8, I've done nada.

So I guess I'm part of the crowd that's responsible for this horrid decision, even though those extra accounts exist due to the lack of good storage options.

With all the additional items added to this game over the last year and all the dungeon gear going BOP, I'm not quite sure where ZOS thought all this stuff was going to be stored.

Oh and not only do you need to understand the data and the methodology behind it, you also need to understand the motivations, agendas, and biases of those providing the data.

I'm sure anyone with a different agenda and bias, such as those wanting more storage, along with a rudimentary knowledge of statistics, could use the same data to show that more storage is needed.
