Confidentiality, integrity, and availability and you

I work in the computer industry. The 3 most basic pillars of information security is what I listed in the title. ZOS is a business. It is in their best interest to make sure that they ensure a computing environment that meets the 3 onjectives above. confidentiality ensures that your privacy and financial data is protected and encrypted. Integrity means that any stored privacy data or financial transactions aren't altered when processed. And finally, available ensures that the organizations IT systems are available for customers to access. Or there are sufficient backups and redundancies in place to minimize or prevent DOWNTIME.

ZOS, As a business offering goods of service to YOU, performs miserably at availability. Their confidentiality is good because if it wasn't and financial data was compromised they would have a huge problem on their hands. From a gaming perspective, I somewhat question their Ingame integrity and their ability to implement a security system to maintain the integrity of their game because ce proved they didn't have the foresight to prevent that. But, hey, they said they took steps to fix that so It is what it is I guess. But it's the availability that concerns me. Since launch their availability has been mediocre. The lag, disconnects, crashes, and so forth. This is unacceptable for a business to operate this way. What if your banking website or Amazon or your online business worked this way? What if your ISP or cable TV worked this way? Would you put up with it? Would you change cable providers or ISPs given the option? Would you trust your bank or buy stuff from Amazon? Obviously, the answer is no.

I'm frustrated like all of you. This is a fun game...when it works smoothly and no issues in both pvp and pve. but this is not acceptable. It wouldn't work in other industries and the gaming industry is no different and doesn't get a free pass. I'm not sure why I wrote this, maybe to get YOU thinking or maybe I'm just ranting. Or maybe someone at Bethesda will listen and seriously consider future improvements. Shrug. Either will get locked or buried, I guess it doesn't matter anymore. I'm sad :(. I want to play in a lag free and crash free environment. I worked hard on my nb for 2 years and it's like trudging through mud and fighting the server more than EP.

Apparently it is acceptable because we are all still here and trying to log back in ....lol .

I would like the crashing and lag to go away as well . I don't see that ever happening here though . I suppose that's how you can tell you got a really sexy game though . It's like a really sexy boyfriend or girlfriend . They get away with way more then anyone else would . M I right ?

    What's your argument?

Let's say you bought a shirt at your favorite store but it has a hole in it which ruined your day. Do you go back and complain about it? Or do you just go to a different store?

Since it's your favorite store you still want to keep shopping there but you'd want them to fix whatever it is that makes you upset. Your favorite store will most likely try and fix it by either refunding you, letting you exchange that specific item. Anything to make you want to come back, shop again and hopefully have a better experience with their products.

It's called costumer service. ZOS, unfortunately do not know anything about how to make you as a costumer happy with their product/service. They just don't care if you leave and go play another game.

    It's a shame.

For christ sake do you people have nothing you won't complain about? Yes, there is an issue with the servers this weekend. Guess what? It might be ZOS's issue. It may very well be an external problem. I'll just say right now that I have no issues over this weekend while playing. None at all. I've played with many people, some with issues, some without issues. So that tends to make me think that the issues are external and not relating to the servers. You really need to pull your heads out of your asses because you're making yourself looking pretty freaking stupid.

And the only thing stopping me from playing this is it doesn't work or when it does, doesn't work well. That's why I'm sad :( this is fun and the best mmo but the performance is just awful with no light at the end of the tunnel. We as customers need to say enough is enough. I've been playing other games and unsubscribed. Yet, if there is a glimmer of hope that this can be fixed Lets push it.

I'm sorry for someone who has 6 stars I'm suprised at this response, where have you been the last 2 years? This is not an isolated incident. Same thing happened 2 weeks before Christmas. Same thing has been happening in cyrodil for 2 years. This has been happening off and on in pve. And why don't I experience these constant problems in other online games? They don't seem to have as many "external" ZOS problems as some people try to defend.

P.s. Do you play in trueflame? For as many fricken characters you have I've never encountered you ever.

Well...server access issues are a big basic thing that people subscribed to a game have a right to complain about.

And the PC NA servers have been broken the whole weekend with nobody from ZOS saying a word about it, no devs popping into the forums even the whole time. We've been left to sit there having rubbish game performance and getting booted all weekend.

So yes I think it's fair to be complaining at this point.

I love your example!!!! I had a case of where I used to buy plain tee shirts at a store (a major retail chain here in South Africa). I discovered that, not long after purchasing, the shirts would develop holes all along the seams where the "arms" are connected to the shirt. This happened to a couple of tee shirts bought from this store.

I stopped buying shirts from this store, yes.

I had a shopping account with this store which has been paid up in full. I kept the account, but I never used used it anymore. I once needed a pair of jeans urgently ( I was dressed incorrectly for a work function ) and bought a pair from this store. Within 2 or 3 months after purchase the jeans ripped. Not on a seam which would have been more understandable, but the actual material ripped, on my hamstring section of my leg.

Anyways, my account was paid up again and this time I closed it. I have not bought from this store since.

My cable company is horrible on demand never works outages all the time and sometimes premium channels I pay for get turned off bc a screw up in the system and I still stay with them bc the competition is worst.

With that out of the way I think ZoS gets away with availability for the same reasons it sucks hands down lag, servers down and not being able to log in but the competition is just as bad or worst.

Just my thought bc you brought up cable company and I laughed so hard bc they are just as bad lol

Don't you know? Every MMO there is crashes and disconnects more than all the others. At least according to some of the players posting in their forums. Anyway, since a player who can't log in and play also can't spend crowns you better believe ZoS wants the server to be more stable.

I don't believe I've ever posted here yet... and while I've been around since beta, this game has only been my main mmo time sink for a relatively short amount of time, so perhaps my words don't carry a lot of weight, but I feel like adding my perspective anyway.

This was never "my game", I stuck more to other games because mechanics-wise, this was just not as much to my liking as I'd hoped it would be, but here I am... and why? Because my other games seem to only be deteriorating in the name of progress. This became my main game because for all its faults and for all the features that don't appeal to me, it feels like it's one of very, very few mmos out there that is actually consistently improving. A bump in the road here and there aside.

I've noticed the lag issues too, and I hope that things will improve sooner rather than later, and had this just been a plea towards that end, then I would've nodded my head in agreement and continued to never post here, but I guess it was the use of "not acceptable" that got to me. If these kinds of issues were easy to solve, they would've been solved. Technical issues can be a pain, but if I'm to follow that shirt-analogy, then this here feels to me like: I've been shopping, being treated like dirt in every store I visited, I find one where a group of friendly and helpful employees rush to assist me, while in the corner of my eye I see another customer yelling at one of those employees because their product wasn't perfect.

Yes.. hmm, "perfect" is a word that can be argued over, but if you really do work in IT, then you know very well that there is no such thing as "a lag free and crash free environment". There's only a matter of degrees. So if that is your demand, then you are demanding unobtainable perfection.

I realize that perhaps I might be talking differently if I'd have been playing this game actively for a longer time and that a rant like this is usually the result of specific incidents, and as such this was not intended as confrontational or accusatory, rather as a different perspective from someone who feels that the way this game is run, developed and maintained is a breath of fresh air.

I have played a lot of mmos myself this is a very normal thing there really is no getting around lag crashes/dcing and I agree this is one of the better out there right now and I have seen this game improve a lot

You get to a point where you have been here since the beginning and you expect to see results of improvements. For a while I did. but now? Nope, its got worse, this game has actually gone backwards and not forwards. I am also fed up, and I have attempted to support ESO's development and I have continuously said to myself *ahah that will get fixed in the next patch, don't worry guys!* but no... enough is enough. I have spent hundreds in this game, which I wish I never did. Fault of my own.

I would gladly come back and play this game if they fixed their issues. However all I can see right now is this game becoming overcrowded, more laggy and more bugs.

My frustration is that when I submit tickets with information about the lag to try to help them pinpoint the issue, specifically gathering information also from my guild members into one combined factual ticket, I get back emails about how to give my Xbox a hard restart, and change my parental controls so that I can play online games.

No, it's a big report in your game. Your solutions would only work if my Xbox was part of your server. This ticket in a perfect world would get an answer more like "Thank you for the information. We are troubleshooting the server. Updates will be provided on the forum."

I know this isn't a perfect world, but it's frustrating that everything that goes wrong with the game is blamed on the user, even if you bring mountains of evidence that it's not, simply because with the ticket system nobody reads or listens, much less people with any authority to fix it. If I wanted to be treated like that, I would get my fill from family reunions.

Nobody is perfect. Especially in the computer world. It's the way it's handled, or rather swept under the rug with minimal to no communication, that really gets to me.
