Gold making

Yes I'm sure this has been asking to death but I was curious o how others manage to make gold.I don't have access to any of the DLC content so that is out of the question and for now probably really putting a damper on anything I could really do. Yes stealing is an option but apparently one of the best areas is in a DLC pack so I can't exactly do that heh. I never understood selling materials in this game. I have to join a trading guild for that correct? Just sort of hoarded materials over the years and never looked into how to make gold.

Zone chat is the place you can sell some wares if you are not in a trader.

You have to join a guild that has a trader if you want to sell at a guild store or kiosk. I have one "trading guild", and another guild that usually has a trader every week. Neither one has any requirements or dues; voluntary raffles and auctions.

You can always sell items in zone chat.

Pick flowers, farm mats and either sell the raw ones, or refine them and sell the tempers. Tempers aren't cheap right now, and after housing hits they are liable to go a lot higher; the master writs require some items to be made gold.

Farm dolmens/trials/dungeons/bosses and either sell the gear that isn't bound, or decon it and sell the mats and tempers.

With the new motif requirements for Master Writs, demand will likely go up for motifs. In particular, older motifs that were a pita to farm and are now rare on guild traders for both those reasons (older and pita). Many of those are from DLC. Craglorn motifs, guild dailies for Draugr, and Glass would be best bets for you.

The higher your legerdemain the higher chance to get green/blue items when you are stealing, so in a few days it becomes better. Keep only greens and blues, so you can get 14 K/day from stealing. Before DLC my favored spot to steal was the inn in Evermore.

Join trade guild, if you are low level and don't have experience with trading - herbs are your best bet. With time you'll learn how to get more from your sells.

Yeah I'm still kicking myself I didn't hold onto the motifs when I had a TON of them back in the day.. :< I may have a few floating around I don't need but I'd have to hunt for where I stashed them.

    I may try to find a trading guild.. I'm sure someone there may be willing to talk me through stuff if I have questions too. ^^;

Though I didn't know that the higher your legerdemain is the better chance of greens and blues. I should have though. My first vrank1 had it pretty high and that character got rares all the time.

That doesn't matter much anymore. All the normal level content is cp160, and you are scaled to it. You can take your just out of coldharbor still wearing prison jammies and using the default weapon character to any area in the game.

I am not in a Trade Guild - anything I don't want, or don't have room for gets sold to a vendor.
I have made approx 350k in the last 4 weeks, and all I do is daily Crafting Writ, daily Fighters Guild, Mages Guild and Undaunted Solo quest. Then just stick to completing the open world content that I have not so far done.

In addition to what others have been saying about legerdemain, pickpocketing generally gets you green items over white, which means it's higher risk, higher reward. I love the dock workers in Vulkhel Guard for this, because they're easy to pickpocket, and if you mess up, the single guard is easy to avoid and it's just a quick run up the beach to the Refuge.

Really, one experienced thief character can make 100k a week with maybe an hour a day, so if you want to grind up a bit of gold, that's what I recommend.
    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

Well If you want to get a lot of gold fast and you are not in trading guild - invest some skill points in "Legerdemain". Upgrade "Trafficker" to max - you can fence 140 items daily per character.
I am able to get like 9.000 - 12.000 gold in 30 min / 1 hour (RNG dependent) per day.

Just find a good spot that has a lot of containers and less NPC and no guards. Log-in, steal, log off, repeat. Then go to fence and sell all stolen items. Profit.

btw. Prices of stolen items at fences are always the same - they are not dependant of you character level.

It does not drop in gold.

OP, as others have said, stealing is a good way. I'm not sure what this DLC area is that's so good, but there are plently of other places that are easy to steal from and are not DLC.

The guild dailies are also good, as you get junk along the way to vendor (and possible set pieces). If you don't want to join a trading guild, you can always just keep an eye on zone chat and if someone wants to buy something that you have, you can sell it to them.

A relatively quick and risk free loot circuit is the port in Daggerfal and the 2 ships anchored there. I even completed the "Black Market Mogul" achievement running that every day for 10-15 minutes, without any ledgermain passives. But stealing gets boring really fast. I make constant money from quest rewards, mob drops, both directly and indirectly - selling the white and green non-set drops and even set drops with bad traits. Set traits that have good traits I improve to blue and sell on guild shops. I also sell the intricate items for 200 gold each since people buy them to train their chars crafting skills faster. That stuff is cheap, but the turnover is quite high. In some days I can sell 50-60 cheap items on 3 guilds. I also sell more expensive stuff, like motif books or pages I already have. I tend to make 300-400K a week but I had weeks with 1M or more net profit.

Everyone is going to make gold in different ways. If you have mats to sell, you are far better off finding a trader. Unless you are selling Gold Mats at below M.M. pricing, Zone Chat just isnt the way to go.

The simplest way to make gold is it farm raw mats, decon, and sell what you get. If you are decent at PVP, then imperial city is also pretty lucrative. Personally, I do Writs on 8 max crafters every day, but that takes some effort to build towards. If you have gold, you can try to play the market and flip goods. This can be very profitable, but has risk and requires knowledge of market prices. Trial farming is also not bad now that we get undaunted plunder.

There's so many easy ways to make gold in this game.

Farm rare weapons like Mother's Sorrow, Spriggan, Spinner, etc. that can fetch you high prices of 400-800k. Vendor the crap drops you get from that farm and you can easily make 100k a day if you farm a lot. If you manage to get all crafting skill lines to 50 and do writs everyday on all 8 or 12 of your characters, that's also an easy way to make loads of gold overtime.
You could also farm raw materials and grind 800-1,000 ore an hour. Do all your Craglorn, DB, and Trials dailies and you can get a crapton of motifs as well.

It just takes some time and luck. :)

I'll be keeping all of these tips in mind for sure ^^ thanks everyone. Though I am still a rather low level on my new character I do have a high level character I haven't played in years. I was trying to aim towards earning enough gold to get one of the new houses when they are released.I don't have faith that I'll have the amount ready for when they release but hey I can give it a shot.

I just haven't really enjoyed the dungeon content or least what I have experiences in the past for this game so I was worried I'd be stuck struggling through that for things.. glad I don't have to do that. As far as a trading guild goes.. I need to find one that is laid back without expecting too much from me heh. Two kids makes my play times hectic at best.

I am glad to hear that there is a lot of things I didn't think of or that are even mentioned in the so called guides for gold making in ESO. Most of them seem to mention the same thing or areas or things to do. While stealing is on the least they don't really cover all that much on it.

for low level, I'd advise you don't overlook the crafting writs...low levels will get about 1500-1800 in gold on a daily basis, if you do the 6 writs, as each will earn you about 250-300 in addition to XP to level your PC, inspiration to level your crafting skills, low-level gear for deconstructing/selling, and crafting mats themselves...also, if you have other alts, you can do those same writs on each of the other alt chars for 1500 per char per day...

you can also go to vulkel guard's guard house at the one end of the beach...inside, you can steal anything in here...it's stolen goods, but there's nobody but other pc's that ever go in, so nobody to catch you stealing...that means that you also do not need to crouch, so you can go thru more quickly. Another thing about that building (as well as other barrel/keg displays) if you hit a barrel that has a tap, you appear to only get white drinks...they will level with you, but still only as white quality...OTOH, the barrels without the taps will yield either food/drink mats or treasures...those are the ones to hit if you're looking to make gold...early on you will get mostly/only whites for 40g, but as you go on, you'll get more of the 100g greens, and even the occasional 250g blue treasures...once since OT started, I even got a purple treasure once for either 1200 or 1500...I've never seen anything in that room tho', except white drinks, food/drink mats, and treasures...for motifs, gear, and other things, you'll need to go elsewhere...oh, PS...it took me a couple months playing before it occurred to me...in the back of the room, make sure to jump up on the platform to reach the 4 barrels in the back that you can't reach from the floor in front of the platform...
