SO by your reckoning OP, does this mean I will now need 100+ Rubedite to craft a single piece of fresh Level 50 gear? Or are you proposing even more changes than your original thoughts imply? Every seemingly "simple" game change has a ripple effect, always impacting several other systems in the game. Remember that.

1- Crafted gear is worthless with a couple exceptions, most builds never use any so it would affect a lot less people than who go through cp 1-160.

    1. Fact: The majority of all end-game/leader board builds out there are using at least one set of crafted. There aren't just "a couple" of exceptions. Tava's, Kagrenac's, Seducer, Hundings, etc. etc. People using 100% dropped sets are still the minority.

    2. Because it's your opinion that crafted sets do not matter at all, we should just tell those who DO use crafted sets to just f*ck off. Right?
2- Gear crafting cost is irrelevant, it's not like rubedite is hard to find or used in anything else.

You missed the point. Rubedite might not be hard to find and gather for people like you or I. Someone who is fresh to level 50? Whos has probably acquired a total of 40 skill points? They probably have zero Rubedite saved up and a grand total of 5000 gold in their savings. With the housing update, the demand for Rubedite is likely going to skyrocket as you start seeing it in furniture recipes.

This really isn't a huge deal, but removing the CP requirement on gear even further devalues all crafting materials in the game all the way up to endgame. Get rid of CP requirement? You might as well make Rubedite, Rubedo, and Ancestor Silk the only armor crafting materials in the entire game, as all others are inconsequential. You might as well get rid of the level system altogether and have everyone be the same, all the time, with no numeric progression. Levels are just arbitrary anyway, another gate to content, and all levels are a complete waste of time until you are 50, right?

This is the same rationale you are using, applied even further. Shall we go deeper?

While I think that the OP got it wrong, I do think there needs to be higher level gear. 160? Really? 160 gear is fine for quests. But group dungeons, Cyr, raids, etc... nope.

I think that's the point. Increase the gear and those trials etc become easier and the only way to alleviate that is to increase the health and damage output from the enemies within those dungeons. Which when you think about it, puts us right back to where we are now.

I'm not against another increase, but due to the grind being an absolute ballache and chore for most people, I think it's too soon just now. Too many people have just farmed their 1T sets and golded them. Whilst you may not mind another laborious grind, it would be a kick in the teeth for a good portion of the player base. Saying that, if they slashed the mat requirement, it would maybe offset some of the complaints that would fly around these forums.

You grind to 50 the first time, upon reaching "max level" you find out every drop you get is trash until you hit cp 160 which is what, three times longer a grind than what you just did?

They designed it to milk money out of subscribers and they abandoned that plan so why is gear still behind a wall.

Not sure what the subscriber milking comment means, but...

When you subscribe you subscribe all the way, from your first born Kahjiit to Molag's last dying day.
When you subscribe you get a crafting bag man, get them nodes when you can, you've got room in your bag.
You're never alone... until you get disconnected.
You'll own a sweet home, by the way when is Homestead expected? I feel so neglected!
Then you are set with a capital S, which you'll never forget like the $%^#ing password when you're drinking again... damn. ><
When you're a Subscriber... you... stay.... subscriiiiiiiibed!

    <pant...pant>

Anyway, the 160 CP grinds takes very little time, especially as they keep raising the CP cap... it is faster the farther you are away from it.

And as far as leveling a character to 50?

My last 3 characters leveled all the way to 50 with a dozen xp pots, couple of crown crate scrolls and a set of level 6 all training purple crafted gear, usually a haphazard TBS, Mork, Hundings or Julianos mix.

They did this not by grinding and ending up with around 70 plus skill points, but by working through each zone getting sky shards, lore books, discoveries, dolmens and delves with the occasional World Boss... no quests at all. With scaling, it is not worth crafting additional sets and you can decon, vendor or research every drop you find without fretting about it.

It takes about a weekend per character, but when you hit 50 you will have about 150 skill points to mess with, your mages and fighters should be maxed at 10 without every having to do the quests and the skills that you decided to use should be all leveled, morphed and leveled again. including weapon and armor line maxing.

What's the big deal? Faster than a lot of MMOs that don't have a quick buy in level gimmick.

Honestly I dont get how over simplified people want a MMORPG to be. It's already gone too far, far too far dumbing things down IMO.

Requests to get rid of levels, gear & mat levels etc, etc, start a new character at end game etc etc, people might as well most go play a FPS.

don't get me wrong, from the beginning I've advocated they need an arcade mode. Log in, no levels, pick a template, crack on, like a FPS. (or PTS I guess) for those that hate leveling or taking time and can all play comparably, but for the richness of rhe game that gives it longevity why would you want to completely gut it like this? It's just impaitence. Leveling is a cake walk now, of you want to do it fast. Or you can enjoy the game, both options open.

Sorry, I just hate calls to simplify a game that's so huge and multi tiered.

I can't hit the agree button more than once; so, thanks for reading my mind! This game needs more nuance and not less! However an arcade mode/monster play, ideas like that can add to the game and don't have to take away.

The option to skip leveling on subsequent characters would leave you at Level 50 with no skill points and all skills lines at 1, meaning your character would not be able to fight their way out of a wet paper bag. I suppose your solution would be to share these between all characters as well.

I also agree with other suggestions about bringing back leveling from level CP10 to CP160 for alts, especially as far as armour and weapons go. This would make these materials useful and give you a valuable opportunity to be further leveling skill lines and earning skill points for these characters.

Reaching CP160 is faster than it has ever been, I ran 2 vet dungeons the other day with a player who went from CP43 to CP55 in about 45 minutes and 2 dungeons. Anyone who thinks getting to CP160 is a grind should be made to do the old grind from Vet1 to Vet16 - then they would realize how easy it is now.
