Next fotm-meta? (Update 13)

Hey guys,

what do u think will become the next "fotm" style?

I dont think that much will change, although I guess:

1. Even fewer mag NB and sorcs
2. Increase in mag templar and mag DK
3. Stam DK/sorc/NB will stay at top

What do u think what will happen? (Pts notes might change, hopefullyy)

And now cDB heals for 33% of missing magic

mDk is the new meta hands down nothing can go against those buffs

Ive been thinking for the last year or so, that id be going back to my magicka sorc once those 2 shields stop stacking. Shieldstacking should never have been possible in the first place.

I can agree that stamdk and stamsorc is currently topdogs, but I wouldnt rank stamnb there, (stamnb might excell at ganking, but thats about it)

I wouldn´t even say the old duration. I´m fine with 6 atm but with this change 8 or 9s would be a great middleground in my opinion.

I wouldn´t even say the old duration. I´m fine with 6 atm but with this change 8 or 9s would be a great middleground in my opinion.

Its been that long, I keep thinking the original duration was 10s. I'd be fine with that.

So? I'll spam destro to, only I won't be holding block like them because it's pointless destro vs destro. They will move 60% slower than someone holding block with a S&B and will need to run a sustain set sacrifising a dps 5 piece in order to block with their magicka pool.

The worst thing zos could do balance wise in PTS 3 would be make it so destro ult can be blocked. They do that, then yeah ice staff will be what most people run and there would be no counter, and knowing zos they'll probably do it.

The real shame is we are talking about fotm's, so much for game diversity and playing the way you want, seems like eso has fallen into the trap a lot of mmo's fall into /sigh

The good ones wont be blocking though, magicka tanks will have easy access to mist form and more non regen magicka return options than their stamina counter parts e.g. magicka steal (800 regen), rune focus (480 regen), desert rose (4.8k regen), harness magicka, battle roar, vMA staff, poisons, potions, etc. There are gonna be some super obnoxious builds around and they will inevitably go mainstream once the streamers get them out there.

As if perma blocking templars would not pop frost destro ulti and just move with it, while their zerg buddies use other variants of same bs to kill everything.

The difference? The ice staff Templar can out heal your destro ultimate with BOL. They can do it now on live.

Give them an ice staff and they're going to be the new alpha class. Now they can outheal your destro ultimate and block your burst. Good luck fighting them without a Zerg behind you.

I actually think the best class right now is mag sorc and I don't think that will change. The reason being mag sorcs have great burst and what should be bad sustain to balance out the class, but with a certain build all of that is ignored. The build I'm talking about is 5 piece spell weave 5 piece lich and 2 guardian. This build is ridiculously good. Lich just gives crazy resource management. And infernal guardian means that they are always offensive even when they go defensive because of how often it procs. Right behind them are magplars because of how stupid ready it is to survive on them and ask the group healing they bring. These 2 classes are meta now and I don't really see any reason it will change next update

This amounts to a MASSIVE buff to DPS magicka templar IMO.

Previously the major issue with DW/destro was that you don't have an efficient blocking bar for dealing with soul assaults and meteors, attempted ganks, and the like. You had to go DW/SnB for that, which means no more heavy attack sustain or destro ult on the back bar. There was a big tradeoff between full on DPS and having some defense.

Now we will get the best of both worlds. DW+frost staff gives you efficient blocking, DPS, and magicka sustain out the wazoo between elemental drain, the new restoring aura, and staff heavy attacks. On top of this you still get to slot EOTS. I am almost certain that I'm going to be able to get away with using max mag + max health food and NO magicka regen glyphs on jewelry due to all these new sustain toys which should gain me around 400 spell damage and 2k magicka/health when I dump my regen from 1800 to 800 (2x jewelry glyphs, and giving up witch's brew).

On top of all of this, you get to use Magicka to block on the back bar. This means your stam sustain can be dedicated purely to CC breaks and the occasional dodge. Or if you front bar SnB and back bar frost staff, you have the option to choose one pool or the other and let the opposite pool regen while you use one. Something like Amber Plasm, tri food, along with 5 piece heavy armor (new black rose set?), engine guardian could make for a sweet permablock setup.

Dunno about cyro but pet sorcs will absolutely dominate the 1v1 scene. Their single target pressure will be obscene with the new buffs to pets and destro passives.

I don't mind having minor main on frost staffs, but getting rid of the snare seems really dumb from a flavour/fun standpoint.

It'll be interesting to see if the changes on the PTS stick or not.

I'm not going to speculate on which class/build combo. I will say that I think ravager/air/senche, etc will see a huge rise in popularity, with the nerf to proc sets its viable to get your burst from elsewhere now.

Pet sorcs are annoying, because the tab targeting in this game is so broken, half the time you're hitting their useless stupid pets because they are LOS'ing behind them.

Fix that and watch them burn.

What makes pet sorcs so op is actually not that, it's, as reddington james said, the fact that it's a 3v1. With necropotence and insane shields you can basically choose if you should attack the pets (and let the sorc freecast on you) or attack the sorc and let the scamp freecast ccs and super damage on you. A pet sorc running 2 infernal 5 necro 3 ancient grace master+mael destro/destro gets to 52k max magicka and a 15k uncrittable shield. With the new resistance buffs on pets and the extra single target damage from destro the class will become untouchable.

For duels only.

A petsorc in cyrodiil is super vulnerable due to bad pet AI and pets basically not working in lag.

Edit: If you´re a sorc yourself - use mines.
The familiar instantly kills itself in mines every time when mages wrath is applied and you´re positioned correctly. You can watch this happen until the petsorc eventually grows tired of recasting that useless little talibanmonkey.
