Everything from gathering nodes to chests should either be 'all or nothing' or should de-spawn a minute or two from the first time it is tapped and re-spawn fresh based on the normal node spawn cycle.
It seems like an over-sight or just poor development to have nodes which can be cherry picked and then allow the cherry picked node to persist rather than de-spawn and re-spawn on cycle
I have a theory: People who leave the trash in chests are the same people who litter irl. I often wonder if in-game laziness goes hand in hand with real life laziness. I want data on this.
Gets a lot annoying to go through almost a whole area and find enchanting nodes that people have picked one or two items off of and left the rest. Kind of like leaving worms and crawlers on flowers only worse because it seems to happen a lot more.
What would be thought about making Rune nodes where you have to take it all or you can take nothing? People can always delete what they don't want and it will save those of us that DO take them all running around cleaning up after others. And they will respawn. Just a thought.
(Personally I think flowers should be the same way).
Third, NO NODE (it vanishes if i take anything) is worse than a "partially empty node" cuz that actually reduces the amount of goods flowing into the game?
First, zos cannot force someone to take everything - sometimes it wont be possible.

If the goods that are left are not very useful and the person who does clear them off only vendors/destroys them (or with craft bag they sit in there forever unused) I don't see how this is any kind of a redeeming point.
Interesting to note that they do respawn eventually, that's good to know. Maybe they can make that happen faster than it defaults to now. Does anyone know what the time setting is on this? If its true then it should be a set timeFirst, zos cannot force someone to take everything - sometimes it wont be possible.
They wouldn't be. The node just stands as a unit. Players can take it or leave it. But if the 'respawn once someone removes something' does happen and is sped up I think that's what a lot here are asking is all and then it wouldn't matter.

But lets be clear, if there is a map in the item that is in my inventory, you think i should not be able to take ANYTHING so that someone else does get to a partial node?
I get your point on this one, and I do run into it.
Hence I leave my maps in the bank till I'm ready to go harvest them. Unlikely to get two of the same maps on the same little farming trips.
The odd time I forget to do that and have it, I mail the one in my inventory away so it will return. I can pick up the one in the chest then. Its about being organized in what you're carrying. There are choices.
If you have the 'mobile' merchant and banker options the choices are even greater. Can sell it to your merchant and pull it back out later.
BUT just to 'be clear', I started the thread in relation to rune nodes, not chests.

There have been threads about the evil cherry pickers going back the the beginning of the game. I see both sides of the argument. No one likes to hit a node for something valuable like columbine and find only a crawler. On the other hand. if my bag is stuffed and all I can fit is one item, it ain't gonna be the crawler, and I'm not gonna leave a high value item behind. I don't worry about what's in a node so much since my craft bag sucks it all in. With the upcoming furniture crafting, it looks like some formerly worthless items will have some value. In the end, you cannot change human nature. There will always be those who cherry pick, and a good deal of the blame goes to game design in the first place.......extremely limited inventory and no mechanic to impede cherry picking. The ONLY thing complainers can control is their own attitude. You can choose to be annoyed by cherry pickers, or simply empty the node, move on, and leave the cherry pickers to their own karma. But cherry picking is not going away.
Yeah, faster respawns would be good.Ourorboros wrote: »LOL, I'm about as surprised by cherry picking of rune nodes as I am by a thread complaining about it. The intention of the thread wasn't to be a 'complaint' about cherry pickers, though obviously it appears from the posts that it does annoy some.
The thread is a suggestion as to how the node HANDLES cherrypickers - what you referred to as the mechanic to impede cherry pickers (I agree with that). I could care less if people cherry pick. Just make the node disappear/respawn when they are done. If it already does that, it would be nice if it does it faster.

I've gotten 3 aetherial dusts from rune nodes. The first 2 I got, I have no idea where. It even makes a different sound when you get them.

And this and other posts about aetherial dust have what exactly to do with this thread topic?
