Make Rune Nodes "All or Nothing"

Gets a lot annoying to go through almost a whole area and find enchanting nodes that people have picked one or two items off of and left the rest. Kind of like leaving worms and crawlers on flowers only worse because it seems to happen a lot more.
What would be thought about making Rune nodes where you have to take it all or you can take nothing? People can always delete what they don't want and it will save those of us that DO take them all running around cleaning up after others. And they will respawn. Just a thought.
(Personally I think flowers should be the same way).

Same problem exists with chests, people (farmers mainly) leave junk in chests so they don't have to fill inventory space. If you leave something on a node of any type after using it that node / chest should disappear after 60 seconds. It would solve issues like this.

Alternate suggestion. If you leave anything on a node, it explodes when you close the interface, dealing 100,000 damage to you and destroying 17 random items from your inventory. It would allow you to drag and destroy items in the node if your inventory is full to prevent the annihilation of your body and inventory. If you choose to leave crawlers, Ta or Adamantine in the node, you will lose 17 times as much and a soul gem as well. Clean up your crap!

Yes, I'm sick of people leaving any sort of trash in nodes and chests.

Everything from gathering nodes to chests should either be 'all or nothing' or should de-spawn a minute or two from the first time it is tapped and re-spawn fresh based on the normal node spawn cycle.

It seems like an over-sight or just poor development to have nodes which can be cherry picked and then allow the cherry picked node to persist rather than de-spawn and re-spawn on cycle

So do the next guy a favor and destroy that unwanted junk. Don't just leave it laying there for the next character to have to deal with it. Such an easy thing to do and it helps your fellow players.

Don't blame the players. Blame bad container design that treats high and low value items as if they were valued equally.

A trove with a large container shouldn't have any lockpicks. A rune with a rekuta or kuta shouldn't have any other item. No chest ever should have a single piece of style material and I don't think anyone would mind if they retired Primal or Barbaric to crown store only.

But this is also basically the retail model for collectibles. Ship one rare chase thing with a bunch of *** nobody wants. The ability to cherry pick containers is just another way the game encourages you to keep looking for stuff. So it's probably working as intended...

Is it really that difficult to pick all then delete the thing you don't want from your inventory?

It helps you out because the thing will respawn sooner than if you leave t hoping a subscriber comes along.

This. Sometimes it just happens my personal inventory is full, so i gotta leave something. I wish it would just de-spawn after a set period of time, instead of going back to clean up after making some room at the bank or merchant.

Before there was craft bag we all had the same inventory.
I still never left anything behind and I'm an addicted farmer.
I just made sure to head back to bank/merchant OR
    BEST FIX?
Mail some items to a guildmate, a friend, make a deal with someone that if you mail them stuff with "RETURN PLEASE" in the subject line they just return to sender. I did that ALL the time and still have a few that mail me stuff to return to them constantly.
So sorry, I don't accept the 'no inventory room' excuse. There are easy fixes for that.

Then there are those lovely folk who just take the gold from chests and leave everything else.

I like the 'despawn after a few minutes' thing. The same way that if you look in a barrel or sack and don't take the item, if you go back a few minutes later after moving away its gone and the container is empty. Do that for all these things.

Aside from rune nodes, chests, alchemy nodes there are also those that will farm Nirm and remove the nirn but leave the ore/wood/cloth. That's not so bad as at least the mats are usable but it also keeps the node from respawning, maybe with Nirn on it.

Another question I have that maybe someone here can answer... are rune nodes 'instanced' in a way to the player? Example, if I look at a node, see whats on it and then step back without taking anything and another player looks at it, will they see the same runes that I did?
I ask because I have come across a couple of rune nodes where there was only 2 things on it. Something pretty useless and, in two cases, a Kuta. I would have to think that if someone else had removed something from the node they would have taken the Kuta.. unless it appeared as something else to them. Ta or Jejota. Anyone know?

PS. Those couple of runes were nice of course, but I still wish that either everything was taken or it despawns, because this is pretty rare and maybe a glitch idk.

Thanks everyone for inputting here, I figured it wasn't just me

First, zos cannot force someone to take everything - sometimes it wont be possible.
Second, leaving some stuff behind doesn't affect respawn.
Third, NO NODE (it vanishes if i take anything) is worse than a "partially empty node" cuz that actually reduces the amount of goods flowing into the game?

I agree. I despise cherry picking. If my inventory is full, I find something to destroy so I can take everything. Not so much a problem now that I have the crafting bag, but before I did, I never partially left stuff.

However, doing the above also bit me in the ass a couple times. R to grab all, leaves the last 2-3 items in a chest so I open inventory to clean up a few spaces and someone swoops in and takes the rest of the items, despite me standing directly in front of the chest, clearly not done. I've even lost a malachite shard this way.

Moral of the story; some people are jerks and have a selfish mentality, even when it comes to games. If it's not about them or doesn't directly benefit them, they don't give a ****, even if it screws someone else over.

Agree totally. It should be a 'take all' deal, so that the node can respawn. It's easy enough to just delete or vendor off any trash.

If the goods that are left are not very useful and the person who does clear them off only vendors/destroys them (or with craft bag they sit in there forever unused) I don't see how this is any kind of a redeeming point.

Interesting to note that they do respawn eventually, that's good to know. Maybe they can make that happen faster than it defaults to now. Does anyone know what the time setting is on this? If its true then it should be a set time

They wouldn't be. The node just stands as a unit. Players can take it or leave it. But if the 'respawn once someone removes something' does happen and is sped up I think that's what a lot here are asking is all and then it wouldn't matter.

One mans useful is another mans clutter.

But lets be clear, if there is a map in the item that is in my inventory, you think i should not be able to take ANYTHING so that someone else does get to a partial node?

LOL, I'm about as surprised by cherry picking of rune nodes as I am by a thread complaining about it. There have been threads about the evil cherry pickers going back the the beginning of the game. I see both sides of the argument. No one likes to hit a node for something valuable like columbine and find only a crawler. On the other hand. if my bag is stuffed and all I can fit is one item, it ain't gonna be the crawler, and I'm not gonna leave a high value item behind. I don't worry about what's in a node so much since my craft bag sucks it all in. With the upcoming furniture crafting, it looks like some formerly worthless items will have some value. In the end, you cannot change human nature. There will always be those who cherry pick, and a good deal of the blame goes to game design in the first place.......extremely limited inventory and no mechanic to impede cherry picking. The ONLY thing complainers can control is their own attitude. You can choose to be annoyed by cherry pickers, or simply empty the node, move on, and leave the cherry pickers to their own karma. But cherry picking is not going away.

I get your point on this one, and I do run into it.
Hence I leave my maps in the bank till I'm ready to go harvest them. Unlikely to get two of the same maps on the same little farming trips.
The odd time I forget to do that and have it, I mail the one in my inventory away so it will return. I can pick up the one in the chest then. Its about being organized in what you're carrying. There are choices.

If you have the 'mobile' merchant and banker options the choices are even greater. Can sell it to your merchant and pull it back out later.

BUT just to 'be clear', I started the thread in relation to rune nodes, not chests.

Meh. Not really an issue. If you can't be bothered to delete or vendor what someone else leaves behind why should they? Plenty of nodes, just move on to the next one.

The intention of the thread wasn't to be a 'complaint' about cherry pickers, though obviously it appears from the posts that it does annoy some.
The thread is a suggestion as to how the node HANDLES cherrypickers - what you referred to as the mechanic to impede cherry pickers (I agree with that  ). I could care less if people cherry pick. Just make the node disappear/respawn when they are done. If it already does that, it would be nice if it does it faster.
