Just a simple heads up, OP:

Forums are either for whining, trolls or constructive criticism (rarely).
PVP is competitive environment. Thus, toxic by its nature.
You can meet *** in PVE too, since not all people are sunshine and rainbow.

I wish I could say something reassuring, but...pick your poison and suck it up.

    1) Toughen up.
    2) You're speaking in blanket statements.
    3) A significant majority of EP players are adults.
    4) Every alliance has idiots.
    5) The console and PC populations are almost identical. Neither community is better or worse because see point 4.
    6) This is a troll post.
    7) Everyone who responded ask yourself the likelihood that any person with a YouTube channel is going to flaunt beating a level 6, and then take note of the OPs name.

No one Alliance, system or play style is any more "toxic" than another. All of them are filled with 90% or more good, nice people just like real life. Then 1 out of every 20 people is a jerk who ruins things. ESO is no different.

Please stop calling everything toxic and continuing a nonsense bunch of blanket statements based on 1 encounter. Also, I'd bet my character's gold vault most, if not all of this, is made up.

That's not the reason, without a doubt. The more likely reasoning is that EP is the most enthusiastic about PvP and competition than the other factions. Take a google search here and there and you'll find that most of the toxicity stems from PvP players or players who are too enthusiastic about competition. Even on this very thread you can find this pattern.

Here are some examples in this thread:
casual players crying about "elitists", involved players crying about "noobs"

    nothing new, move along.
    self explanatory

check their youtube and you can tell they are a pvper

Now while I understand that there are players who pvp and do not act like this. It's pretty much a given that most of those players who are enthusiastic about PvP tend to be rather toxic towards their fellows. It's the same pattern in all games and not restricted to just mmos. So again, this isn't a issue with being "a skyrim fanboy" but more of a issue with the human psyche of those who care more for competition than anything.
    @1mirg
I do not PvP, nor am I competitive. My statement was about the number of threads we have on this forum about people complaining about generalizations of types of people they do not like.

Why are you using me as an example?

There is a problem with this post. Ever since One Tamriel has existed, all three alliances are in the zones. There is no way to be able to tell when someone talks in zone what alliance they belong unless they say something alliance specific and most players have characters in more than one alliance.

hmm... I don't even know you, but didn't you tbag me out of nowhere the other week? *suspicious*

But to the subject. All Alliances are extremely toxic. Just be unbothered by these kids in-game. If you took the time to look these people up online you'd end up like "wtf did I really just waste my time and energy on this fugly person" lol. That's what I tell myself every time to just not care about what some random person say. And it works :)

    AD is mature adults.

The first day One Tamriel hit live, I went over to Vulkhel Guard and in zone, said "Hello Dominion peoples!" And my first reply was a very nice, "F&$% off."

Well speaking of generalizations, back in the good old days of ESO, this is how many saw the world:
    • EP = medium faction full of dragonborn wannabe kids who play Nord Dragonknights with 7/7 heavy & 2handed, pervy Dunmer roleplayers all with the name Drizzt Do'Urden & underdog4life-minded players who created Argonian chars. 4 DDs enter a dungeon together, cuz no tanks or healers.
    • DC = tiny faction of pvp players, extremely elitest pve'rs and sometimes 4 healers had to enter a dungeon together, because small faction and selection.
    • AD = largest faction full of vegan roleplayers who played the only cannibalistic race in Tamriel: Bosmer. Tons of Khajiiti and Altmer roleplayers, very pve minded. This faction was known as the best and the worst faction of everything, because it was the largest, and had it's own trading zone: Reapers March, and it's own token pvp pug collector: BIG BOSS. 2 DD's 1 tank 1 healer was able to enter a dungeon, because we had all roles.
Now there was some truth behind those generalizations, however it was heavily influenced by the number of people who played on each faction. AD was told to be the best faction, because it was so large that it had many established communities for every purpose. However, all factions had established communities for every purpose and if you were in general a nice and rational person with minimum social skills, you could easily thrive in all 3 factions without any problems.

Note: all factions have shared access to pve now, so a lot of these old problems have been solved.

So here I am you know leveling through stonefalls and then I ask a very simple question and 5 people start attacking me and calling me a scrub and I didn't even do anything wrong. So you know what I did? I deleted the character despite the fact that I wasn't supposed to but I don't care because I don't want to subject myself to being trolled. If I ask a question in my own server on DC I don't feel as pressured. I have a short temper and I will get angry enough to respond which is something I feel I should have more control over. Long story short AD and DC are more mature members and EP is just a bunch of edgy teenagers that have little to no respect for anybody in this game.

And then here I am, a guy with nothing but EP characters. lol Granted even though I have the chat box open I rarely use it, even if I do read it, but I'd like to still throw myself in as the exception to your generalization. Do you mind sharing what that question was?

Nicest gaming community I've come across was on the Gilrain(EU) Server in LOTRO from 2007/2011. Folks there were awesome but I also think this ESO community is pretty awesome and there's plenty of people willing to help and discuss things maturely. Find a few good guilds and build your community from them so you'll always have a good foundation to your everyday gaming.

A lot of gaming communities are going to have their toxic and rather disgusting side be the first one to be shown. If you don't have some friends to play ESO with at first, it can get pretty daunting. I've made it my personal policy to be a good-hearted person in the game. If people need help, I'll happily help em out. I don't let any ego or anything get the better of me. If some people are legitimately making it hard for you to play, just report them and ignore them. Most of the egotistical people refuse to stop being jerks, and often it's like talking to a brick wall with them.

ESO Forum is just as toxic to be honest.

I think the most hilarious aspect of this is most people on here point the finger right at the PvP crowd, whilst completely ignoring the dozens or so elitist threads that pop up here regularly from those PvE try hards that look down their noses at everyone and anyone who doesn't conform to their meta ideology overkill nonsense when running dungeons. Then they have the cheek to ask why there are a large number of people who choose to solo the game and refuse to interact with others.

I agree 100% that these forums aren't much better than what you find in-game.

To be fair, that's the internet for you. The toxic mentality isn't just an issue affecting the gaming community, you see it on almost every single site that allows their members to interact with one another. It's also rife on social media.

Generalization is bad but tbh putting it on the chosen faction is just stupid and makes me thing those that do it should chose to kids group because its where they belong.

    EP = All kids
DC = The best of the best but so niche its very small
AD = is most mature and nicest people that have it all.

Edit: i have most characters in EP because i started with a nord sorc ( yes i was clueless).
I made friends during playing her so all my characters apart from 1 in AD ended up in EP.

    Which platform?

I play on PC. My exchanges so far has been mostly positive. Only negatives I've gotten so far are people not responding... which can be subjective in its' own right and therefore considered neutral.

I've heard bad things about the console community. Perhaps try hopping onto the PC? My computer hardware is about 3-4 years now and I'm running this game very well at high settings, and max water settings.

There are no differences between EP, DC and AD. Thousands and thousands of players even have characters in all three alliances.

Players from EP, DC and AD don't live in different planets. There are good people in EP, DC and AD, and there are bad people in EP, DC and AD.

I've been in EP for more than two years now and worst treatment have come from DC and AD in PvP, honestly.

Though I have no experience with DC, there's a bit of a difference between EP and AD. Groups and guilds in EP tend to be tight-knit and exclusive, and if you don't know a friend of a friend who's in this one cool guild, you'll have a tough time getting to know people. AD's more so an open social gathering. People, guilds, and more are much more open to helping newbs and just socialize. Every alliance has its dirtbags and whatnot, but EP and AD are certainly different. EP's the exclusive nightclub while AD's the cool free concert. Unfortunately, after pvping in AD for awhile, I got to know some cool cats who pvp in EP a lot. I wish I knew them earlier on in the game.
