PTS Feedback Thread for Dragonknight Balance Improvements

Extremely disappointed in the change to Dragons Blood. It's far to unreliable to use in pvp with this change. Not matter what heal you could "potentially" get from it, if I'm at full magicka and need health I'm dead.

Even if you had 15% magicka, healed yourself to full, then what? DK would stand there with d*ck in hand ready to do sh*t all to an enemy. Unless of course we are expected to pop an ult or potion every time we use coag blood effectively. Both of which are needed for other things, like regular resource management and killing people...

I noticed a bug Dragonknight Fragmented Shield morph. It only explodes when it expires now, not when the shield is removed or recast. This was not intended I suppose?

Pointless heal change minor 5% on skill offset by nerf to ult. Not quite the massive DK buff we were looking for.

Just tested dragon blood on pts...I manage to get 19.2k heals on light armor. The heal bonuses and the cp make the heal pretty good. Test it before judging

And what if u need to heal and u are not out of magicka? What then? Its literally punishing people for having good sustain.

Dragon blood is rubbish, tested it in duels. Just revert it back for the sake of PvE. Rest of the buffs are great.

My thoughts considering only the changes made:

Chains: Good initiative to increase the major expedition. Terrible that this is still dodge-able and reflect-able when no other gap closers are. This greatly hampers DK mobility and has not made this skill even remotely more enticing to use in PVP. VERDICT: This skill is still greatly sub-optimal and has no place in the current meta even if it got slightly better.

Coagulating Blood: The idea that it would scale off missing magicka is completely pointless, it punishes players for having good resource management and defeats the purpose of a self heal. A self heal is meant to allow you to save you from dying and be in a position to continue the fight, as it is if you want a reliable heal you have to be extremely low on magicka and thus even after casting it not having sufficient resources to continue the fight. Make it a flat heal, around 8k (4k in pvp) make it scale off max magicka not missing magicka.
VERDICT: This absolutely has to be addressed during this PTS otherwise DK will undoubtedly be in a worse spot than before this patch.

Standard of Might: Good idea to bring down the DK's damage for PVP as it was outperforming most classes. However, this reduction to standard should not have affected its mitigation as it has been crucial to pvp survivability for the DK since coagulating blood has been unusable. In addition to this, the crit nerfs have nerfed all classes across the board and therefore nerfing standard hasn't helped reduce this gap with other classes, for clarifications see @Gilliamtherogue on twitch and a forum post that I'm sure he'll be making.
VERDICT: came from a good place but needs more thorough thinking of game wide implications.

Whip: Thanks for 5% damage increase, makes this skill more in line with other class based DPS skills in terms of damage/cost ratio. Still not ideally on par especially in pvp, give flame lash (the PVP morph) minor berserk for 6 seconds on activation of power lash to make it more enticing, this will not affect PVE as proccing powerlash will hardly ever happen against bosses and greatly make rotation harder leaving molten whip as the better PVE morph.
VERDICT: good effort but again lackluster.

Ferocious Leap: Great idea to make it flame damage so that DK can have a kill mechanic for PVP. Unfortunately this ability can easily miss/ be dodged, the flame damage still does not hit as hard as Dawnbreaker of Smiting on a magic DK because the DoT from Dawnbreaker procs at the same time as the initial burst and has a higher tooltip.
Verdict: still not worth slotting this skill, this along with coagulating blood needs to be addressed ASAP!

Volatile Armor and Hardened Armor: Fine changes. Hardened armor is still outclassed by volatile by a lot. Make the shield ignore battle spirit or scale of max magicka.

Overall: Thank you for revisiting the DK class however, these changes have not helped the DK be more competitive in PVP and has not reduced the DPS gap between it and other classes in PVE due to the class wide nerfs through major and minor force.

P.S. Not related to the DK, the major and minor force buffs need to be functioning as they are on live not as on the PTS.

And nothing for the stamdks except a cut in our dps as pointed out on page 1. Total crap, looks like this game is reverting to Elder Staves Online where everyone rolls magicka for damage.

Im truly disappointed in your change to leap. The fire change sucks seeing as Im probably one of the few actually running it in pvp and Im stam. But the fact that you FAILED to address the underlying issues with it that I laid out here recently: Fix Dragon Leap for #^%@# sake. It mis-fires, is stun-able, ect. I'll probably run it even if its fire damage but for the love of god fix it because at the moment it is broken.

I don't understand what the *** they are thinking? Dragonblood was already hit far too hard by the Cyrodiil heal debuff so instead of improving it you pretty much make it useless?

Nerf to standard of might? You realise nobody uses this anymore right? the few players who do use standard use shifting standard because 250 ult is just too high.

Leap was a brilliant ult and quite well balanced and you decided to change it when no changes were needed.

It seems pretty obvious that our threads and suggestions are ignored so i won't bother anymore.

After Testing out Dragon's blood here's what I feel needs to happen.

If you want to keep this skill as a percentage then make it scale off of your max health while allowing it to crit. The fact that I have to be around 40% (that's when I was getting around 5.6k heals at 30k max magicka on a testing character) is pretty annoying. It makes me feel that I am to sacrifice around 2.8k magicka at 12k magicka to get a heal that if major defiled would be completely horrible and a waste of magic.
It would simply be better for me to stick to the current way of healing ward + burning ember spam.

Ferocious leap is perfect but please do remember that the gap closers for both version of this ultimate is clearly broken as it will waste it even on PTS when rooted or if the target runs out of range you'll see the wings go off while the ultimate gone. It's also still being dodged if the player runs away from the ultimate (doesn't say the ability was dodged or missed but it just doesn't do damage).

Flame Lash is definitely strong and does considerable amount of damage (this was tested against a max CP player who used 5 heavy 1 med 1 light, not sure if it matters but he was a high elf templar using sword n shield for reverb). I'm on a 300 CP character still putting in the damage which was great to see even though it still hits pretty good prior to this incoming buff (IMO when using sets like burning spell + scathing).

Standard of Might did some damage increases that was noticeable but the damage received I didn't really notice a difference as it was a PvE mainly thing I used but in PvP still wouldn't use or recommend using it unless you're tanking for a group.

All other things I feel still need to be addressed.

Flames of Oblivion (more preference) needs to go back to an AoE, it does good damage now but 5 seconds for it to hit is annoying + I use to have it on my mag dk to find enemies who were hiding. I would like for it to go back as an AoE but if not an applied DoT would be nice too.

Cauterize - Please get rid of this ability and make it a different one maybe a life stealing ground AoE that damages an enemy while stealing their health when they're being damaged or maybe even giving back resources if they stand in the AoE. It could be a pool of lava similar to the destro staffs elemental blockade.

Unrelenting grip - Please make this a stamina taunt that applies minor breech/minor fracture.

Noxious breath - Please get rid of the delay it does also fix the issue where it doesn't apply a debuff on an enemy that isn't buffed and if somehow make it easier to aim with because it misses an enemy when I use it right in front of their face.

Talons and other soft CCs - Please apply immunity when using talons or encase or bombard (you get the picture) have you ever been soft cc'd in place so badly that you cannot move? I mean it's literally ridiculous that this still happens, it shouldn't be a thing whatsoever.

Ash cloud and morphs - increase it's diameter by 2 meters. While Cinderstorm could get back it's major evasion??

Battle Roar: Does it affect your health you receive while in PvP because I'm almost certain that it does + the changes said it will now display the values you will receive when using an ultimate. Has these values always been current ( 21 for health/stam and 54 or something close for magicka upon ultimate usage)? If not please return the original values.

Helping Hands - Please give 10% back in stamina when using an earthen heart ability, the class that's built around sustain currently lacks the best sustain just saying..

I do have a lot of unrelated DK abilities that I want to see changed but I will not list them here. The soft CCs was an exception as talons is considered to be one.

I think I can speak for everyone here ZOS. EVERYONE despises this patch, sustain is still bad, self heal is not strong and bases off of low magicka and low regeneration builds (which are used by almost no one at all) magicka dragonknight is still at the bottom of every other class regarding useful skills. We ALL want this fixed.

    I tested it in cyrodiil.
It's really not that bad as you might think.
I hav 43k magicka, my 19.2k heal was with around 25% magicka.
When I cast a shield at full magicka and then use dragon blood it heals already for around 5k.

Consider that you get crits now!

43k magicka - if I have like 50% its 21.5k magicka missing, 33% of it is 7095 heal.
    Now 50% less: 3547 heal
    +12% draconic ability
    +25% minor mending
    + 8% coagulating blood
    + 5% champion points
    =+50% --> 5321 heal
now it can crit, so +64%
    --> 8726 heal

    with heavy armor even more.

but believe me, somehow it is healing way more than it says...I am not sure if battle spirit is really affecting it. For me it looks pretty OP - test it. I had to logg out after an hour of testing.

Test it before hating Zeni too much.

Saw a crit coag blood for 11k, seems like a pretty good heal right now. Problem still remains of when you are at full magicka. It heals me for 1800 at 100% magicka

From what people are saying about it healing for 1200 or 1800 at 100% magicka I'm beginning to think it has a higher base value that is modified by the magicka. From what I recall from live Dragon blood would heal me for 1 health at 100% health.

The old dragonblood was a unique heal that wasn't a bad concept. It works when you need healing the most and doesn't work when you don't need it. Leave it the way it was, buff the burst heal slightly so that in cyrodiil it returns 25% of your missing health not including healing buffs, and then add a HoT. DKs get decent healing from embers/inhale/whip and all I want is a heal that will bring me out of execute range and then a HoT. Make the HoT significantly weaker than vigor, I don't care, but the extra health regen is worthless especially when mag DKs are pretty much forced into vamp.

The way it stands now a DK's oh s*** heal is really only going to work when you get lucky (or unlucky I guess). Why in the **** should anyone try to plan on having no magicka left when they also have low health? I pray that Wrobel has no more "pretty cool new versions" for anything ever again.

All we needed was either one of the following:

    - Gap closer ability (chains dont do the job)
    - execute ability
    - better sustain

None of those were actually achieved with the new patch.

How is a hot going to save you from getting bursted? It won't. Kodi did some testint of the new cDB. With 50% magicka (40k max) it was critting for 11k.. Up to 20k with next to no magicka. This skill isnt bad.

How to tell if your class is broken:
The gap closer on your bar is weapon based.
The execute on your bar is weapon based.
Almost all your damage abilities are weapon/guild based.
Almost all your buffs are weapon/guild based.
    Your heal is weapon/alliance based.

I do think they should add a 5-6k tooltip heal onto dragon blood. Just so even if your at like 80% your actually gonna get a heal that does something.

Then add the % based heal on top of it.

    2.5 - 3k non crit heal + whatever % your on.
